Not only am I setting aside time to enjoy the Evo on day one, but I have a trip planned to a nearby city dripping in wimax to visit a few friends for a couple days. They're iphone slaves at the moment, but by the time I leave I'm betting they will have bought Evos! I don't get a free sandwich though, lucky.

I don't know whether the Sprint store employees will be able to answer detailed EVO questions. A few weeks ago, I took my TP2 because it seemed to hand when trying to change ring tones. Sprint store employees ordered a refurbished one for me and then I realized that the phone was not hanging but scanning through songs on my 8GB micro SD card. Once I mentioned this "feature" to the Sprint Store employees, they seemed perplexed and thanked me (I don't think they understood what I was saying). So I suggest you view sites like this one if you have EVO questions.

Just my 2 cents of experience with the technical staff at the Sprint store next to my house in Austin.

The post also says that the EVO's 4 navigation buttons are part of the display. I think the person is confused (or is it me?). I think I saw 4 touch sensitive buttons at the base of the phone, outside of the display.

Wow, that's some serious resolution. When I zoomed in on pic 13, it looked like I saw a bean aphid on the third bean to the right on the second row.

I have 2 jobs n i only work Saturdays at one and i asked for it off just so i can play with the evo all weekend.

Here's a question to all of you that have the phone in hand. What's the word on the battery. Is it the same as the Hero? I'd like to order a couple of extra batteries. Also what's the charge jack? Will it accept a "standard" mini usb charge connector? I've got a HTC Touch Pro with several chargers both A/C and car that I could use on the EVO if they continued to use the same connector for power.

I did too - on arrow electronics as well as the auxiliary cable for the car at 3.5mm AUX AUXILIARY CABLE CORD FOR iPOD MP3 CAR 3.5 mm - eBay (item 320521888776 end time May-23-10 05:32:13 PDT) for $0.99 and the 32gb micro sdhc at 100% NEW 32GB 32G microSD micro SD SDHC - eBay (item 230476927200 end time Jun-18-10 06:54:41 PDT) for $21.28, all including shipping. I guess the 32 gig card is worth a buy even if it's a Class 2.

Now trying to find an inexpensive, yet sassy car dock!! I don't like the ones available on fleabay and want something similar to what was shown on the purported accessories powerpoint released on engadget some weeks ago. Any suggestions?

Just a side note concerning high capacity SD cards off eBay. There has been a big ripoff going on with standard and micro SD cards sold on eBay from Chinese and Hong Kong sources that end up being fake for the last couple of years. They take memory modules that fail to pass and re-process them and package them as Kingston or Sandisk, etc. Or they take 2GB modules and some way re-program them to look like 16GB or 32GB and all they do is keep re-writing 2GBs worth of data onto the chip. So if you wrote 6GB of data onto the chip you'd end up with the last 2GB actually on the chip. You can get a lot of information on this problem with fake memory out of China by Googling.

Cable A is Mini, Cable B is Micro. Phone A is a Touch Pro that uses Cable A. Phone B is a EVO that uses Cable B.

Inference and reason would then tell you that in fact, no, your EVO cannot use the cable from your Touch Pro. This is pretty clear and easy to understand.
 
What are the chances the Evo drops this Friday the 28th, one week ahead like some other Droid phone recently did? Incredible ... I think?

Yea, they are most likely identical in terms of function. The dock will keep your phone propped up, which looks neat. It probably also has HDMI out. However, you could charge and use HDMI out with two cables too. There's no need/advantage to a dock - just aesthetics.

Hey RSA - I wanted to cut out the boring tech details, but here's all the info to reassure you it's the right one:

MOLEX helped design the new micro HDMI standard and here is the data sheet where that order site came from:

And yes shipping is the same amount as the cable. So total is about $16 for 2 meters. $8.00 a meter still not bad but I'm sure monoprice will beat it sooner or later I bought 2 so that it's $27 for 2 cables including shipping - one for me and the wife
