Well at least with the attitude came some information. I know that it was really hard and so you've done your charity work for the day! ;)
 
Hey Bill, I'm glad to see you back too. I didn't read whatever posts started the whole thing in the first place. At that time the posts were generating 5 pages or more a day and lots of times I'd just skip a days worth of posts.

I'm really glad you got a phone early. I've got one pre-ordered through BB and I'm just counting the days. :)

I try to do at least one good deed a day, and two on Sundays. This was my second - I also told some dude about the car widget.
 
will sprint let me have a number from another state so that i won't have to pay the ridiculous new york state tax and fees of 23% ? or it might be even higher than that according to some others. lets say i give them a fake address in nevada, where it has the lowest cellphone taxes in the country and then ask for the paper-less billing. thx in advance.:confused:

Question for some folks:

I'm moving soon and will probably be strapped for cash for a bit. If I decide to use the EVO as my internet connection via USB tethering for a while, does that $10 charge ensure totally uncapped and unlimited downloads/uploads? Because I do a lot. Of both. A LOT. I just don't want to get a bill that says I owe $6,000,000 dollars because of it. :p
 
It says that when you try to install it on the EVO or whe you downloaded it to your computer? I have the file saved to my dekstop but I won't install it if that's the case. Someone said just use the other one that is on App Brain I forget the name but they say it's similar just not as good.. Thanks for the info though..

The USB size on the EVO 4G is different than on the HTC Hero. The EVO 4G USB is thinner. I *believe* the EVO 4G has a more universal size, what I had become used to with my HTC Mogul and HTC Hero is fatter than the USB the EVO 4G uses.

Yep, I did a little googling and noticed the same thing. There are female <=> female connectors so you could get a regular size connector cable of some length for cheap and put them in series. If the cables and connections are good I think HDMI can be run for quite a long distance, at least long enough to go from your laptop to your TV.

My TP2 is Mini USB and I was told that this is Micro USB. HTC said most phones now a days are going Micro. I have an old Micro cable from my Lotus but can't find the wall charger part. Cause I wanted an extra charger for work. I know you can charge it via USB on a computer but I always got an error message saying not enough power consumption switch to AC. HTC told me some car docks come with the ability to charge the phone also but I don't know how the EVO's car dock is going to be so I'll probably get a car charger online..

I'm putting an HDMI Switch next to my bluray player, so the length won't be an issue. For anyone else though, for $3 on monoprice you can get the extension adapter you mentioned.
 
Bill, Very nice pics!! Not to change subject but do you have any light leakage at the bottom of the screen when the icon buttons are illuminated? Saw a couple of reviews the had that fault. Thanks, Steve

Bill, says it's the same battery and on Sprint.com if you look at the hero battery it says also fits EVO 4G.

I went to the local Sprint store to ask about car dock, home dock, and the like. They said they didn't have them yet which I fully expected so I asked when they expected them in and he said they usually get them in 5 to 7 days before the phone. To me that means that sometime towards the end of this week we should be able to get our sweaty little hands on some "official" gear for the beloved EVO!! Then I asked about price and he said he didn't know. So I asked who in the store had the phone and he pointed to the manager. I asked if I could see it and he said "There has already been 2 people fired in the district from letting people handle the phone" so I said "I guess that is a no, huh?" That close and no joy. Well less than 2 weeks, I can wait. :mad:

I had the same issue with seeing the phone. An employee invited me to come see it, and before i got there his manager said he would get fired if he showed it to me. I understood, i'll wait.

EDIT: I'm edited this post because I think I misunderstood LSI. I thought he was questioning the cable length but apparently he received a cable that's shorter than 2 meters. The ones I received are exactly 6.56'.

LSI - I'm sorry. I don't really understand what the issue is. I ordered a cable from arrownac that is 2 meters long and that's exactly what I got. I misunderstood what you were referring to when you said "1.5 meters"

Hi Steve. I guess I don't really understand the problem. The only time the buttons are illuminated is when the phone is on. For the heck of it, I took the phone into a dark room and I can't see any leakage with the phone on or off.
