I got a gift card, the second half of your post is true... You may consider taking a closer look at your paperwork, the gift card ( at least in my case) is the deposit
 
Bah, maybe I misunderstood what he said? Yes, I do know that they are to hold my (2) pre-order(s), but he made it sound like you don't actually get a physical gift card, which I did. AND, in the event that I didn't pick up the EVO's, I could still use the gift cards at Best Buy.

Hey, that's a good idea Cary. I'll try YouTube when I get a chance.

Edit: Okay, I just tried again with the YouTube thing and it doesn't work, but I'll experiment more later. The good news is I tried again with the gallery set on slideshow and it worked perfectly. That means you can see your pictures on TV and your videos. I might also point out that almost every picture I've taken came out really good and they look just about as good on the TV as they do on my computer screen (which surprises me a little). I think the 8 megapixel camera is great and I have no complaints with the camcorder either.

LOL no he was just saying that (for people that misunderstand) these aren't free giftcards.. your $50 that you deposited is on the giftcard :)

You already knew that tho ;)

I have to ask, Did you preorder at Best Buy?

I did and I got an actual gift card.

After getting home from Google I/O I went back to Best Buy and was informed that the gift card could be used for anything at Best Buy.
 
So much confusion! Earl was suggesting this to the person worried about pre ordering through BB and worrying about wasting fifty bones... By getting it through some other means...
Yes you paid for the gift card
No you do not need to use it on the phone, if you decide not to pick it up, for some crazy reason

When I pre ordered the Hero and then changed my mind They me my money back for the Gift Card.
 
Just for the record I pre-ordered my EVO through Best-Buy as well and I also received 2 gift cards... No idea why because I know I only put down $50 cash. Any idea what the other one is for?

One thing I REALLY hope they add support for is video conferencing using the HDMI out, so you can conference on a larger screen. Seems like it would require a lot of juice, but it would be absolutely AWESOME!

Good point. That way the whole family could be in on the conference in a comfortable setting.

Funny I was thinking the same thing a little while ago. It would be convenient and would also make sense for business users who may be in a meeting and want to make the conference available to everyone in the board room.
