Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

There have been a lot of people complaining about the $10 Evo charge/tax/whatever, but that's going to seem like a steal by the time the other carrier's plans start hitting reality.

100% Agree....if you feel Sprint is trying to capitalize on us with the $10 charge...that specifically removes data capping.....just wait til what AT&T and Verizon do.

And when you are capped...you better believe Verizon & AT&T are going charge out the whazzooo for over usage.

VZW CEO's been saying this since '09 so it's going to happen. It will happen with ATT who's also said almost the exact same thing. I believe they will all end up with something like it with Sprint, again, winning space as the value option.

If there's normal growth or stagnation in the economy though, tiered plans are going to work against the higher-priced carriers. This is where I think Sprint staying the course will make the most sense.

I just wish people would just stop with the EVO tax crap...nothing towards you Rig.... just a general comment. I mentioned in a earlier post that I wouldn't root my phone and essentially steal tethering rather than pay the $30, but I did call and explain that I don't live in a 4g area and if my 3G usage remains the same I don't see why my cost should go up; however for those of you in a 4G area put up or don't buy an EVO plain and simple... I know that'll be easier said then done, but remember the $10 is still cheaper then the cheapest alternative!;)

Thanks TS for putting me over the 100 mark on thanks!

And the way you can surf on 4G, overages easily can giveway to termination which then leads to more money grubbing.

I love this..... The more concerning issue was the battery. It pooped out after only a few hours of general use, or well before the business day had ended. (To be fair, my iPhone 3G battery failed around the same time.)

Sorry, I don't know if I should simply edit my earlier posts to add new info I find or what... please combine if necessary....

chrissy, I doubt HP is too broken up over it. It's not uncommon at all during a merger for the buying company to force out some people and replace them with their own guys. Not saying that this guy was forced out, but HP will have no issue replacing him with their own.

Yeah, if they really wanted to keep him they would have. I worked for IBM in the '90s and when they bought Lotus, part of the terms of the deal was that Ray Ozzie (creator of Lotus Notes, which was a Big Deal until a few years ago) would have to stay employed with IBM for x number of years. I am sure he was well compensated for this, also. As soon as his agreed time was up, though, he bolted.

By the way, he is now Chief Software Architect at Micro$oft, taking over that position from BILL GATES.:eek::eek::mad:

Time will tell whether HP loses with the departure. Depends a lot more on who else if any others follow him. In the corporate world, losing top people isn't always the problem. It's losing the loyalists to that person who help bring the thinking and execution to completion.

HPs biggest concern is defining itself as a player in the mobile industry. It's not clear what they're going to do. I'm not sure they should take on the task of OEM and OS creator. IMO HP would be best served trying to use Palm OS to make HP PC and Mobile seamless. Otherwise, I can't see why the combined company will make any sense. And they need to make it happen yesterday.

i am going for the all-you-can-eat plan with sprint for the evo ($99/month). i got $70 credit for reupping for 2 years. i got them to remove the $10/month for the 4G data. i also got a 10% discount per month.

anyone know how much an unlimited voice + data on the ihpone with ATT is?

sprint should've bunded the $10/month data into the monthly cost. gone to $79, $99 and $109 instead of $69, $89, $99.

These sites still don't show that other plans do have 5GB caps so the comparisons are really never apples-apples. Oh, and what about data - include that into the plans from the others and now it's not looking like this at all. Typical slant.

If you get a 10% discount due to where you work or something like that you cannot use a simply everything plan ($99) they will not take your monthly 10% discount off of that plan. I get 23% off and tried to use it for that plan and they would not let me.

why can i not use a 10% credit union discount just because it is a simply everything plan? when i called sprint, they said they could do it.

thanks for the info.

Yes that is why, They will not discount an unlimited plan. Talk to another rep. I don't want to see you get ripped thinking you will get a discount and then they don't do it.

new business.....have been doing some reading & it seems that a few phones, Shadow to name one that has 2.2, saw another, did not notice name but it is being released with 2.2. Does anyone wonder why the EVO isn't being released with the same.

I just got done reading that the Tmobile MyTouch 3g Slide will have 2.2 out of the box. So that may have been the other name you were looking for. Anyway I am just hoping we get it either once we turn it on OR within a week or so of having the phone. In reality however; I set my hopes to have within the first month of owning my Evo.

Ah, I see you didn't click the link.

" Please note that all of the plans listed are for unlimited data plans."

Because they aren't coming out in 8 days. Another thing that makes me think we'll get Froyo sooner than later.

Is it just me? Or the people giving negative reviews on the 720p recording were just expecting to much? I have seen various video samples, and all of them are way better that what I have ever seen on a PHONE! I mean come on what were they expecting? Some Hollywood production HD video camera quality. IMHO I think the quality is not perfect but very acceptable, better then my HTC Touch Diamond LOL! 8 more days baby!
