Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

new business.....have been doing some reading & it seems that a few phones, Shadow to name one that has 2.2, saw another, did not notice name but it is being released with 2.2. Does anyone wonder why the EVO isn't being released with the same.
Because Sprint loves letting other people steal their thunder.
Not that the phone needs 2.2 now but realistically they should've released the phone already or started some advertising to counter these leaks.
I'm already hearing from the Verizon camp about the Moto Shadow.

The lack of advertising and secrecy/prevention of allowing customers to even see the Evo in stores that have them (despite the fact that there are already hundreds, if not thousands of Evo's in the wild) is making Sprint look more like a "NOT now network."

I have no idea what they're waiting for. Either they're hiding something really big, or they're not interested in building hype. Judging by the fact that they've already released so many Evo's I'm guessing it's the latter.

Not bad for a beta app. I hope they make it run a little smoother on their full fledge version. I own a sling box and a sling catcher that I primarily us for my laptop. Great piece's of hardware it might add. Being able to use it on my EVO is going to be sugar on top of the icing on the cake lol! ;)

So the slingbox is that good huh.... Sugar on top of icing don't know how good that would be... could we go with the cherry on top or something traditional like that... I mean if it's cool in all:D

I've been thinking about slingbox, but just never had a real use for it or at least not til now. Who says you can't watch a little tv on a camping trip...

oh and for you facebook guru's

careful.... this kinda talk will get river yellin at yah...:D I said the same thing... more or less, a few days ago. I don't understand why Sprint just doesn't allow it's self to shine a bit....

on another note... is this thread slowin down a bit or is it just me

LOL..... I first read what you posted and giggled a bit.... I pictured a techy in overalls... playing Red Dead Redemption so everything's Cowboy related now... :D (Now say this with a good ol' fashioned hill-billy accent - The Evo anit no traditional phone ...... remember your southern drawl :D)

Sprint Playbook: EVO 4G is a high-end, awesome device

Lots of stuff here, don't think I saw it posted.

Edit: Also, it confirms NO 5GB data cap for 3g or 4g.

Hey Hopalee... I think I'm contagious :) Everyone's gotta little Mr. Linky in em

The sling box is ACE, especialy if you are a road warrior. Its like mobile dvr on steroids (there I go with my silly analogies again) but I really enjoy it. You should look in to it. Its all that and a bag of chips. OK OK I'll quit :)

No i've actually noticed it for a few days its been slow. And speaking of advertising, my dad was watching the Golf channel earlier, and I walked by and caught a last second glimpse of a sprint commercial, had the boxes, and the big yellow 4G in the middle. Was thinking it could have been an Evo commercial, but viewing this video:

I sent a request to HTC asking what class of MicroSD cards are supported in the EVO. Here is their reply:

"Hello Daddo, I understand how important it is to know which types of MicroSDHC cards are compatible with the EVO 4G. Each class, 2, 4, and 6, are compatible with the device; you can use whichever you like, depending on your preference. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us again. You can find additional support at support forums at community.htc.com. There is also a customer satisfaction survey for you to take if you are interested. I'm still not clear if there's a performance benefit for using class 6, or a penalty for using class 2. I would think if there's any impact, it would most likely show up when playing HD video from the card or when files are transferred to/from the card and a computer.

Anyone out there with real world experience in using the different classes in the EVO?

These sites still don't show that other plans do have 5GB caps so the comparisons are really never apples-apples. Oh, and what about data - include that into the plans from the others and now it's not looking like this at all. Typical slant.

I know that Sprint includes Sprint Navigation in the Everything Family Share plans and I use it frequently, but does Verizon include that at no cost in their plan? I thought they were charging another $9.99 per month (or $2.99 per day).

Are there other free features provided by Sprint that others charge for?

Am I the only that finds it weird how they have the EVO on that little stand in the Slingplayer video? Seems like an obsolete piece of hardware.

I thought that was pretty weird to. They probably thought the kick stand was just a decorative accent. LOL

Hey, got a question. I own a Palm Pre and to close an app., you just flick it away. How do you close apps on the EVO? Pre ordered my EVO at both BB & The Shack. Which it the best to go with? Thanks all.
