[OFFICIAL] Froyo OTA downloading/received - w00t!!!

Anyone help with how to magnify a page using Browser with the new 2.2. I tried tapping bottom of page with no results.

Use the volume button on the left side of the phone to zoom in and out. Or use two fingers and stretch the screen out (if that makes sense)

Anybody else having trouble with the default camera app after the 2.2 OTA update? It opens, says "Please Wait..." and after about a minute, it just closes.

YAY!!! Keeping an eye on this thread to see what other little "gotcha!"'s appear with the OTA. I've waited this long... I can wait a couple more days till 1) most people have it and the servers are cooled off and 2) any major issues have been revealed (thus causing me to not want the OTA right now).

My battery life seems to have gotten really bad. Factoring in the "new toy" factor it still seems bad. In 4 hours it has gone down to 25% from full.

Everything seems to work for me. I'm ticked that the search button uses bing. That's a big disappointment.

Kudos about the screen shot feature with the holding back and pressing power, I love those cool small things!...anyone find out about the secret menu's yet...do those still work?

Kabob, i've looked over the menu's and setting, haven't found anything nor have a ever got that search soft key to ever work with google, I also thought i read somewhere that even tho they were adding google search into Froyo update, this still wouldn't allow the search soft key to be used with google...

I also noticed that the lowest setting of system volume [bar up before off] seems louder than 2.1 and also is there a setting to turn down the volume of button click on swype? I know you can turn on/off the sound, but for some reason it is super loud when its on and doesnt seem to change volume with the system sound settings. You either get on or off....?

Can't remember if I asked this either but is there a way or an app that would give me the ability to keep my screen on when its charging? I hate that they took that option away....

Lastly, i love the font changing ability and the fact that even on UnRooted [such as myself] I have the ability to install my own custom fonts to use!

I was just curious, does anybody use or know of anybody that actually uses the Block Buster thing that is STILL forced on us?

Something odd i caught was i got the pop up that said 100% full battery [on my first charge from 35% after installing the update] when I was charging it over night but when I took it off the charger it immediately went to 96% so i plugged it back in and it continued charging to 97%, 98%..etc so I dunno what that was, but maybe let your battery die and keep it off and charge it all the way full then turn it back on and see how long you get, i did this [before 2.2] and it actually seemed to help me a LITTLE bit, but over all besides that little mishap i haven't seen MUCH difference in battery life, maybe like 5-10% decrease and the same amt of time/useage between 2.1 and 2.2....

I dont even know anyone whos even opened it up to see what its all about...I have no desire and since i'm not rooted I try and to forget its there using ADW Launcher so I can remove it from my apps window lol

I am also having the com.google.process.gapps problem w/ random vibrations. I saw someone said to uninstall google search, but it doesn't seem to be an app you can uninstall.

Any tips / revelations?

Update: Uninstalling the google search and Gmail apps (through application settings), restarting the phone, then reinstalling them fixed the problem...all good now!

Did you have google voice installed? I don't have gmail apps (that I know of) or google search on my phone. I was thinking of uninstalling google voice for the update just as a precaution.

I didn't have voice, but the google search app is automatically added as part of the update

This isn't meant to discount those with issues, but I had a smooth install and couldn't be happier with the upgrade. Things are faster overall, I like the new data toggle, and my camera is at least twice as fast as it was before. I doubt this matters, but I'm using dxTop as my home replacement.

I've always just gone to silent mode by holding down the power button and selecting it. My wife always did the "drop the volume all the way to the bottom" but I think it takes more effort.
yeah I've done that before, I try doing it now. but the vibrate option is either always on, only when it's not in silent, never, or only in silent mode lol. so basically you can have all sounds/vibrate off & vibrate on when there is sound, or you can have vibrate always on with sound & without sound. can't have a completely silent option & vibrate option at the same time like 2.1 w/o going into the options and turning vibrate off.

I updated OTA last night and so far, so good. Skype works (the real Skype on the market, not the Verizon piece of junk), Flash works fine, and the build seems stable so far.

The only nitpick I have--and a very minor nitpick, at that... I noticed that if you lock the phone via the TouchWiz UI (where you see the puzzle to unlock) that the clock shows an added "0" in front of single-hour times. Thus, instead of showing "6:55 AM" it shows "06:55 AM". Has anyone else noticed this? I assume it is a bug.
yeah. I just noticed that now that you mentioned it. lol

One more note, FINALLY the Google Talk app shows up in the task manager! That is worth the upgrade alone! haha!

mine isn't working, can someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?

I downloaded it just fine and when I try to install, in the middle it will stop and just restart the phone.

i also can't delete google, there's no option for that and i'm rooted.

Ugh, a new gripe. On Eclair if I had headphones in and received a notification it still played the notification through my phone speaker. Now it's played through the headphones and even at the lowest volume its painfully loud.

You're rooted? That's your problem. You can't install an OTA update on a rooted phone, you have to return it to stock first.

I've just tested this [as i use my phone in the gym a lot], as for the notification playing through the phone on mine when im playing music it still plays the notification noise thru the phone speaker as well as the headphones for me, but i agree with ur statement about the volume, im gonna miss how it made the notification noise soft while headphones were in. Ive also noticed that the key press on swype was much louder again there was no option to adjust the volume just on/off and the lowest setting [before off] seems to be noticably louder than it was with Eclair

I think I mentioned the same thing above, clicking on your screen or on the capacitive buttons is MUCH louder than it was in Eclair. Now, when I first made the upgrade I went to my sound settings and there was no option to change the system volume. I checked a few minutes ago and it was there (very odd, similar to how the first time I clicked the search capacitive button it took me to a selectable search window).

I'm rooted and the update went just fine (other than losing root).
I just have a basic root though. No mods/roms or anything like that.

I use ChompSMS for text notifications (since the default messenger doesn't light up the screen when you get a text). When I read texts on Chomp's popup, there is still a little red "1" flag on my default messenger as if it weren't read.

It says I have a message, but it was already read. Anyone know how to disable these notifications? I didn't see anything in the messaging settings.

Everything went smooths last night, I LOVE IT!!!!!

GPS lock in less than 10 sec / Youtube filter option

btw, Flash is still not latest?
