Welcome to the party! I guess my three weeks of being one of the few guys in the USA with a Gnex are over...but still one of the only on GSM.
OK, so I said earlier that the important things to me are battery life, phone reception, data reception and the display. I went to Verizon today to play with the RAZR, Rezound and Gnex. THe GNex's display was not so much better than the other two that I couldn't get past it. I did notice that the RAZR and Rezound (both within a few ft. of the Gnex) got a better signal, and I am hearing in here that the phone does not sound great and is not that loud. Battery life has yet to be determined. So, after weeks and weeks of great excitement, it is looking like 3 of the 4 things that are most important to me (and seem to be very basic items) are not very good on the Gnex. How in the world does Verizon/Google/Samsung release what should be a flagship 4G phone with such a poor radio? How does a phone of such caliber have such a poor speaker? I wanted sooooooooooooooo badly to walk in, try all three phones and be like "F' yeah, Gnex kicks butt!! All that anticipation and excitement was warranted!!" To me any smartphone should start with doing the basics well, then accentuate that with some additional awesomeness like ICS and panoramic camera and face recognition and all that stuff. Reception and speaker quality should be baseline items. I really don't want to pee on anyone's parade, but does anyone feel remotely similar?
I owned a rezound for 2 weeks and i can honestly say that if the rezound had ice cream sandwich it would beat the g nex in every way.
What is there for visual voicemail options on the Nexus? I do not see a standard version on the phone.

I just noticed that there is visual voice mail nexus in the market. Of course it's 2.99 but I was already paying for that on my x2 so it doesn't bother me. I have never tried google voice, but I would like to know if it is just as good.

I'm not rooted, works like a champ.
I did get the paid version, so, I don't know what the free version offers. I saw it mentioned in "the mega thread" last week or so and looked into it then. Thought it would be worth the price. Give the free version a shot, it can't hurt, then, you can always upgrade later.
Get Google Voice. It's free, gives you a second free number that you can use with your phone, and you can set up your regular voicemail to go to it also.
The only complain I have is the transcript feature is pretty inaccurate, but otherwise no complaints.

The Nexus is capable of HDMI out through the MicroUSB port. I don't know the technical specifics, but I'm sure someone will fill you in.
