Root official gingerbread update soon.

Yea, where i live i barely get 300-400 kbps download, that is not enough for web browsing, well anyway im switching to tmobile as soon as i get my replacement from motorola in a week i think (camera doesn't focus). I'm probably going to get a G2 since CM9 is almost fully functional there.

Yeah I get somewhere in the range of 400-700 usually. Sometimes it's really good (up to 2.3MB in certain areas) but for the most part it's below average. Hopefully once Sprint launches LTE, it'll free up the network and their 3G speeds back up.

I have the Triumph, Intercept and the BB2go in my house here in the boondocks. Have the bb2go device in a cradlepoint router up on a shelf, normally get 24-50kbps, occasionally I'll get in the 100-200kbps range (according to steam).

Anything they do to increase my 3g will be good, except if they raise my prices again the bastids.

Eesh, I thought I had it bad :p

Not to pick but every thread on this phone has been derailed by new phones or new services so that's not good for a guy who just bought the mt I hope there are new blood that come around with the price drop.:-(

I'm sorry if this has been asked but I'm just wondering if you're in order to receive the update will have to be complete stock and if so will there be a post posted letting us know the steps to recieve the update. With the intercept it was actually quite fickle so approx 3 different methods were posted for pre update prep. Im seriously so elated and hopeful for an update :D

well just like you said the intercept had to be complete stock to receive the update. so more than likely the triumph would probably have to be stock to receive the update also not sure but if its like the intercept than yes. but i guess it easy if you have a nandroid backup stock you should be ok. but im sure someone will grab the update and post it so it can be a simple flash.

I don't care about 4g at all. I am from a small town in central Kentucky so 4g is unheard of. All I care about is good devices and the evo 3d would be a good one! And a fun one to dev with. They can keep the one v! Ill take the evo 3d

My coverage stinks in Louisville, Boyle, Mercer, Anderson. Florence, etc.. so Gannon and Brandon are not alone in Kentucky.. I'm hoping the evo has a better radio. Supposedly the pretriumph virgin phones had a better signal. At least I think I read that somewhere.

Ooh jeez lol I'm about to move from Tennessee to Kentucky for college!

So the airvana works for VM and the triumph? I know some of these have not worked for the VM phones before. I get NOOOOOO signal in the building where I work so this interests me a lot!

I didn't by this phone to be the maddest beast on the block. I got it because it has a flash for the camera, a big screen, and was on a cheap service that met my needs.

I thought the topic of this thread was "official gingerbread update soon", most of the posts are related to 4G (WiMax coverage) and phones VM may (or may not add)... After spending nearly $300 for my MT a few months ago I have absolutely no desire or the wallet to drop the MT and rush out to purchase another phone. An official GB push from VM would be a very worthwhile thing for quite a number of reasons. One being a completely supported set of device files for GB which would be very useful for CM7 and other GB based ROMS. Seeing how dismal the 3G throughput is do you guys really think 4G is going to be any different?

All that being said; Has anyone received any more information from VM or Motorola alluding to an expected release date for an update to the MT?

Kind of late, but...

I don't care if Richard Branson himself comes on TV and says they're moving the Triumph straight to ICS. I'll bet any one of you a dollar that even if they update the phone, they'll do a piss-poor job and probably manage to make the phone even worse somehow. Like somebody before said, it'll give our devs more to work with (and do things right), but I am remaining pessimistic until I am either pleasantly surprised or right.

Also, I really don't care about 4G. At all. Not that anyone asked.

end rant :eviltongue:

i was goin to say neither VM/Sir Richard, or Android has anything to do with the crappiness of this phone your speaking of lol

its a chinese phone, purchased and rebranded by motorola, then sold to VM

then motorola fixed nothing on the phone, basically abandoned it

so even tho sir richard branson is rich i doubt hes willing to personally pay for fixing our Triumph problems lol
