Official HTC HSUPA update for the Inspire 4G

first test not connected to wifi
download: 0.91mbps
upload: 0.15mbps
ping: 196ms
network: hsdpa
server: ashburn, va

not very fast.
H+ with the arrows underneath it


now if I connect wifi:
download: 10.68mbps
upload: 9.79mbps
ping: 39ms
network: wifi - connected to verizon fios 25/25
server: ashburn, va

H+ with the check underneath it.

turned phone off, ran test again without wifi
download: 1.08mbps
upload: 0.07mbps
ping: 167ms
network: hsdpa
server: ashburn, va

H+ with the arrows underneath.


so of course, my network does not say hsupa
disappointed :(
update did nothing for me


this is going to be a very blonde question... where do I go to check to see what 'network' it is? I went into wireless & network settings, & then checked under 'mobile network settings' ... but I remember at some point in time seeing my network status (E, 3G, H+, HSDPA, etc) .... minus the one at the top of the screen. it may have been on my aria though, not sure. lol
 
Ahh, finally! Thanks to 2manyphones, I was able to download the update (by unchecking mobile network, and then checking for the update). I run speedtests all the time. My last 5 results (before the update) averaged 1.794 mbps down and 290kbps up (310.8ms ping). The FIRST speedtest result after the update (and another reboot) was 3.11 mbps down 1.16 mbps up (114ms ping)! I'm ecstatic :D.

now if I had HSUPA would it say that?
 
how long does the update take to complete? i downloaded it an hour ago and my phone has a black screen with three arrows and an icon if the phone...is it stuck? anyone had this issue?
 
Altima, I am right there with you. Seems like it froze up on me. Anyone else had this, have any ideas on how to fix it?

No, it wouldn't. I suppose the only way to tell is through speed tests. You should see over 399kbps, which is what I think it was capped at. The average I've seen is around 1 mbps; that has been my average as well.
 
Downloaded, said that I had successfully upgraded, pulled the battery and so far no difference in speeds :mad:
 
Altima, try pulling your battery and then putting it back in. I did that and the update went through in less than 10 min.

I updated my phone yesterday, restarted the phone, and still as of today I'm getting the same exact download and capped upload speeds as before (Manhattan). It very well could be that AT&T is waiting to flip the switch on the network here in NYC due to the overwhelming amount of 4G phones waiting to download and upload at maximum potential. Nevertheless, my phone is still struggling to watch Youtube videos without stopping every 30 seconds to buffer.
Sheesh.


UPDATE: Did another speedtest this afternoon, and I'm getting on average 3.27 mbps download and 1.7 mbps upload.

Nice....My most recent speed tests have been hit or miss, but the upload has been fairly consistent (about 1.2 mbps up).
 
Ok I was wrong. This is the update.

Just got 4.3mbps. I live around dallad/fort worth and always have good signal

I wish you could take pics of the phone screen without having to root.

Now remember Dallas is AT&T's headquarters and known HSPA+ upgraded market. Your phone is 14.4mbps HSDPA capable, you should be seeing 10mbps+ speeds at least late at night. could you test this?

yeah ill test it a little later when there isnt so much traffic

the signal is WAY better at my work, we have a cell tower on the roof :D
 
How am I supposed to know if the update went through. It said updated. I don't see the HTC's in the status bar like some do. Speed is still slower than before too.

Did you reboot after it applied and all that?

On another note. I have the .zip file of the update, but no way to install. Will work on it and see what I can come up with.

XDA folks are being their normal selves when asking for help "root and you can get a ROM with it"... Uhhhh.. No, not everyone needs every phone rooted... :P

Lol, I know. I get so tired of hearing that. Feels like I'm the only one that's opted NOT to root.
 
I did the update and I noticed that the "Quiet Ring on Pickup" function doesn't work anymore. Did anyone else notice that?
