There are many Verizon customers who are eagerly waiting for Verizon's launch of the HTC Incredible. The high-end Android OS model has yet to be officially announced but many details are already available, including some new images.
They show the Incredible from every side, and apparently are from HTC because they do not include Verizon branding.
The images are renderings rather than photos, but offer the most detailed look so far of the upcoming smartphone's exterior. They appear to match earlier pictures of the smartphone that also came from unofficial sources.
A Preliminary Overview of the HTC Incredible
According to HTC and Verizon, the Incredible is going to run Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz processor, but it may be downclocked to 768 MHz.
The model is going to apparently include HTC Sense, the company's alternate user interface that enhances Google's standard UI.
It is almost certainly a version of the HTC Bravo; other versions of the device include the Google Nexus One and the HTC Legend. If so, the smartphone is going to use a tablet shape with a 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) AMOLED touchscreen. Below it is going to be an optical touchpad.
The Incredible is expected to support Verizon's 3G mobile broadband network, and include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a GPS receiver.
Other features supposedly include 6 GB of internal storage, a microSD memory card slot and 512 MB of RAM. In addition, it's going to have an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flashes, and FM Tuner and a 1300 mAh battery.
Coming in Late April
According to an internal document from Best Buy, the HTC Incredible is going to launch April 29. The chain is apparently going to carry the Incredible in stores.
So far, no source has revealed a potential price for the smartphone.

NKT, I know April 29th. has been thrown out as a BB release date. Do you know if there is a possibility of it being released earlier than that by Verizon stores or through online ordering. I've also seen the 25th. mentioned as a possible date for that. Thanks, and thanks for all you have contributed to this thread.

Only date's I've seen is in reference to Best Buy. So anything else would be pure speculation on my part.

got a question guys. I have 2 phones on Verizon, my droid and another crappy dumb phone. the dumb phone is eligible for NE2 in a few days. I wander if I can get the Incredible with the NE2 and then immediately go back to my old phone without the data plan. Then I could activate the HTC in place of my droid on my primary line and keep the Droid for backup. Anyone know if this will work?

Yes, you can do that.

NKT I am assuming that the fact the manual says load apps to the SD card is a typo but do you know if this is a possibility?

Loading apps on the card and running them are two different things. Any Android phone lets you load them on the card, you use an app installer, and install them to the phone. I'm sure that's what it means.

Make the decision once you have the phone in hand and the reviews are out describing exactly what comes in the box and how it looks and how it behaves.

.
I've learned not to care what the reviews say about a phone these days. So many reviewers claim to be impartial, but 90% of the time they are closet Apple Fan Boys and will always find something to dig at on a device that doesn't live up to the smug Apple regime. Don't get me wrong, watching review videos is a nice way to become familiar with your device, but they opinions coming out of their mouths is usually tainted by apples dipped in peanut butter (if you get my meaning).

I was a rep for 4 years. Yes, you should be able to do this. You are buying a new device and VZW is getting a new contract, that makes them very happy. If you own your devices (which of course you will), you have the right to place them on whatever line you would like. Net Ace (the system used for POS and plan changes) will not physically permit a data package on a dumb phone, so no worries.

Putting it a bit easier to understand, what you will be doing (and can ask the rep for) is an "alternate upgrade." That means you are upgrading on the dumb phone's mtn (mobile telephone #) but placing the new device onto you other line. Reps do countless alternate upgrades every week.

If for some reason you get some grief (which I doubt) ask to speak to a manager and show them my post. However, I do not think that will be necessary. :)

hmm..page 17 "Store your pictures, music, and applications in the microSD card (sold separately)."

I'd take that with a grain of salt. They may be referencing how some apps store info on the microSD card.

Until Google releases an upgrade to Android I don't think you'll see instaling apps native on the removable storage.

Sure thing. Let me know when you want to do it.

I just contacted my Account Manager-Indirect Sales and asked to get the phone a little bit earlier so I can start using it and promote it.

I would like the phone -- about 2 weeks ago but this Monday would work ...

I am with you on this one. I just don't see how they would not allow you to store pictures on the internal 8GB memory. What is it there for then? Will apps be stored on it and that folder locked down to protect from piracy?

Anonimac, if you're listening, was the Incredible Rendering an official rendering, or just one of the forum members Renderings?

HTC Incredible Specs Unveiled

Meh these guys managed to get rid of the android water mark and put in there own. Check it out they didn't even credit android for the leak.

What's with the resolutions(3264x1952, 2592x1552, 2048x1216, 1280x769, 640x384)? Am I to believe the device has the worlds greatest display(insane pixel density to show that on 3.7" screen) capable of resolutions in for excess of the laptop(1680x1050) I'm typing on?

Who has time to make this crap up?

In my four year in wireless I never saw a phone release on a Sunday in a corporate store. The 25th is a Sunday.

If indeed the device launches earlier in corp stores than at agents like BB, I would place my money on Thursday the 22nd. VZW likes to release & launch on Thursdays.

Of course, the 29th is a Thursday, so the device may launch the same day at corporate as BB. Still an open question I believe, maybe today will bring us new info.

This source lists the Legend as a form of the Bravo. The Desire is "a form of the bravo" if you want to think of it like that, but not the legend. Sounds like someone is just regurgitating news.

That's camera resolution, not display.

With 8 GB of on-board storage, do you think it would be necessary to store apps to phone?

I was under the impression that apps are loaded onto the ROM in that case only 512mb

Resolution options for the camera. Its an 8MP camera.

I believe that refers to the picture resolutions and not the screen
