No one answered because there is no one answer. It can range from months down to 2 weeks. The nexus one was about 3 weeks time I think and one blackberry (tour I think) was only 2 weeks. Technically a phone could go on sale the day after its approved.

Anyway, right now I'm really leaning towards the Nexus One, because let's face it, it will get a Sense UI ROM and run just as nicely as on the Incredible. The Incredible's looks just aren't as good. I do, however, hope that the incredible does come out looking great so I don't have to root right away. I like to make sure that everything is working before I root.

Verizon typically releases phones no earlier than 4-5 weeks after FCC approval. That's just based on recent history (last year or so). Nothing to say it couldn't be even longer, but I wouldn't plan on any earlier than that. The Nexus One released 3 weeks after approval, but that's Google, not Verizon. Exception to the rule for Verizon: Blackberry Tour was released 14 days after FCC approval. Hope that helps.

Here is an interesting article, especially for those of us who are thinking that they want the Nexus One over the Incredible. I think the Nexus is a great phone, but geez...not if it comes to Verizon with these same problems. Read this article and watch the video.

So...here's the question: If it came down to deciding between the Nexus One and the Incredible and the only features that you had to decide between with the two phones was either choosing a phone with 256 RAM (Incredible) or a phone that basically has an extremely difficult/near impossible time connecting at 3G speeds (Nexus One)...which one would you choose?
Sure the back on the Incredible is kinda an eyesore, but I think we'd all have to admit that, assuming the Nexus One version that comes to Verizon has the same 3G connectivity issues, we'd take that ugly red back plate and half the RAM over a phone that isn't able to conveniently use 3G.
Just food for thought. I sure hope the Nexus One version that comes to Verizon doesn't have this, seemingly, hardware related problem (as the recent software update didn't fix it.)

Yeah, I am hesitant to go with the Nexus just because I won't be able to drive to a Physical Verizon store and replace my phone that day if I have an issue (At Least I wouldn't think I could).

The problems with that would definitely make me hesitate, but it would just be one of those things that you would need to look into, or, give it some time. Judging by all of our patience, its tough enough to wait. 
Personally, I think they wanted the update to "fix" the connecting problem. And when it didnt, has to be the hardware? Its still on Tmobile coverage. Willing to admit this just may be wishful thinking that way the N1 is still an option for me. However, I dont see it happening with Verizon.

Reading about the phones other people are using while they hold out for this phone made me want to tell everyone what I'm using: Moto V710!
I had an HTC Touch, but I put my service under "vacation suspend" and when I re-activated it they wouldn't let me keep my unlimited data. The touch (Vogue) doesn't have wi-fi and w/ the data rates telus charges, it became a paperweight. So i sold it and hence the moto.
I've been waiting for a phone like this since i got my touch (larger screen, HTC UI) that I could use on Telus but now that they've transitioned to HSPA, my dream is dead
Here's to hoping Sense gets ported to the N1, and that AT&T gets the N1 soon so I can get some Android+Sense/Snapdragon/3.7" AMOLED goodness!

I wanted to say something to all of the members who have been posting in here. I don't claim to be an authority, but I'm just a member like all of you who is grateful:
Thank you all for being so respectful, friendly and courteous to one another, and mostly, just for treating other people how you would like to be treated. This thread has been going for almost 10 pages and everyone has just really impressed me. Sometimes it only takes one apple to ruin the bunch. I'm glad we have such a great group of active members participating and contributing in here. Welcome to the new members who are now contributing and thank you to the veterans who have been here for months and have always constantly stood up for honesty and decency in here. This is the best thread I've seen since I've been a lurker, and then a member, of this forum. Keep up the great work. It's great to be part of something with so many great people involved.

Just wanted to chime in and break silence...as this wait is really tough. My wife and I are holding out for either the Nexus One or Incredible...so we can switch to Verizon and join most of our family members that are already with that provider. We have been waiting a long time....almost bought the Droid...and then got in the waiting game a little longer to see how this shakes out. We're still using our 3 year old Katana's on Sprint! I originally thought the iphone would go to Verizon by late this last year....and so this is another reason I got into the waiting game. Not much that I can add to this conversation...except that I saw a Nexus One in person today. It's actually a better looking phone in person! I didn't use it...but the TMobile Rep at my Costco showed me pinch to zoom. The display is beautiful...and it looks like the answer to our long wait.
I won't repeat all the other deliberations...except to say I agree with most people....the Bravo looks the best...followed by the Nexus One. This latest bit about 3G connectivity is a bit troubling. It looks, from the video, that it has to be a hardware issue since the the way you hold the phone surely has nothing to do with software. Would this keep me from buying the Nexus One? No....but the Incredible might! If I end up with the N1...I'll just be sure to hold it with my left hand.
Finally, I think one of the most interesting parts of the discussion here is the speculation about how important it is to have Sense UI....or stock Android....now that pinch to zoom works....and the mention of faster updates with Google....and the fact that the N1 may be able to utilize the Sense UI at some point. All the other reasons to go Incredible make perfect sense. Anyway, I'm another guy dying over here...hoping that one of these phones is available by at least May! Hopefully it's the Incredible and it looks way better than the pics lead us to believe.

This really doesn't worry me at all with the Nexus One. CDMA and GSM based 3G standards are totally different and the antenna problem that might be plaguing the T-Mobile Nexus One won't necessarily be carried over to the Verizon Nexus One. Now, what you might want to worry about are things like the touch-sensitive buttons along the bottom and the fact that they're off-center high, too close to the touch screen. I hope that gets fixed. Anyway, I'm hoping the Verizon gets to be involved with CDMA Nexus One testing because we all know they're one to give due diligence.

I agree. I was watching some of the other threads and this one has been nice. The way it should be.
To those getting tired of waiting...stay strong. I'm lucky if I get a signal at all from my desk at work and it's really tough to wait. I don't want to switch to Verizon until I can get a phone I'll be happy with for 2 years.
At this point, I'm also leaning towards the nexus one based on what we know of the incredible. But of course that can change once HTC officially reveals the phone. I personally don't see the incredible releasing with that ugly back cover. I really think we are gonna be pleasantly surprised once we see it. Hopefully Verizon realized how underpowered the Eris is and people who want a smart phone, want the most powerful device they can get. It really will be incredible!

haha, mine is up at the end of Feb. i got the Eris for my mom and my brother for Christmas and they love em, but they don't care about Ram, processor speed, amoled, or anything like that so it's perfect for them. hopefully with the NE2, the rebate (most likely gonna be one), and my company discount ill be able to score the Incredible for like $80-90. now that would be incredible

Ya know I didn't think it was really that big a problem, tho I know there's been lots of complaining about it going around. The Eris definitely has the home/back/menu/search capacitive buttons mounted higher towards the bottom of the screen, but after a day or two i never ran into missed button push or accidentally selecting something on the screen.
Maybe it's the WM training...trying to use a touch screen WM device without the stylus will make your inputs accurate
