Not everyone here is a phone geek.. *hint, hint* :p

Exactly, but is it worth for me to make a 3 hour drive to San Jose? :p;) How bout we meet each other half way, at another VZW store

Trust me, no matter what you may think, anyone who is looking at this thread is somewhat of a phone geek. Maybe not a geek in general, but still a phone geek. And, since I am calling myself out, I must saythere is nothing wrong with it.

Un-frikin-believable!
VZW's web site is slow but functional to enter the update [to the Inc, of course] but The checkout phase fails repeatedly. Finally called their internet support. Very helpful, the CS rep offered to do everything from his end. After maybe 20 minutes of trying, he gave up. In fact, he called in the phone sales group, but soon found that their systems could not place an order for the Inc [as reported here, but news to him]. Points for trying, but Catch 22!

The checkout pages take forever to load, and every time one of the steps is loaded incompletely. Little stuff like no submit button [doh]. Its almost funny that a major US corporation cant manage to deploy a functional shopping cart/checkout system. Well, it might be funny if it hadn't wasted many hours and still not managed to process a simple order. </rant>

OK, I know it's not my phone, but I got my phone cover in the mail today. It was nice to see how big it would be in my hand. My Dare is wider and only a bit shorter than it is. Nice size. Actually might be a little narrower than I'd imagined. NOW all I need is my phone to put in it.

I've got a Dare as well that I will be replacing with the Incredible next week. I just wanted to point out that the Dare is not wider than the Incredible - it may seem that way since it is shorter, so it would look wider in comparison. The Dare is a little thicker than the Incredible, though.

Incredible: 117.5mm x 58.5mm x 11.9mm
Dare: 104mm x 56mm x 13mm

They are pretty close in width and thickness, but obviously the Incredible is going to be noticeably taller.

If your source wasn't Verizon customer service I might actually take this as fact. Customer Service has clearly shown they don't know what's going on 99% of the time.

Looks like it's not in there according to the user's manual as well, and no Nuance software can be found by anyone.
Man, I hope I'm wrong.

Just stopped by my local store and sure enough . . . . they had an Inc.
They just got it in today and the employees have been playing with it since they opened. I got a few minutes in before the battery died.
I have to be honest, once the manager told me to take my time and stepped in the back, the thought of running out the door crossed my mind. . . . . don't judge me, I'm sure a few of you would have had the same thought. :D
Overall, I'm still in love!
My only "wish" is that it had a larger/wider screen.
I've got the Moto Droid, which also carries a 3.7 in screen, but if I remember the comparison correctly, the Inc screen is a little narrower and taller.
Not enough of a drawback to stop me from buy the Inc. though.
Other than that, not much to say that hasn't been said so far in the reviews (thin, light, super responsive, no lag between apps & homescreens, the back "ridges" aren't noticeable when its in your hand, little to no shutter delay with the camera, etc.)

Oh yeah, I posted this observation in the "Notification..." thread:
I have confirmed that it has green, red & orange/amber out of the box, so I suspect apps that introduce other colors will most likely open the spectrum (blue, purple, pink, white, etc.).

With all this excitement, I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep for a couple of weeks! I may just stop in their store every day to get my fix until Thursday.

PEOPLE either help someone out when they post the same question everyone has heard over and over or don't. You can easily just not read it, there isn't going to be a lot of useful information on this thread right now. There is no reason to be dicks, not everyone has the time to read all 900 pages of this thread.

This is a forum, where people will ask questions, sure you have heard it over and over again, oh well. Lets all be polite, just answer or don't it is that simple.

To whom it may concern, yes it is normal for your message from Verizon to say it is pending or waiting for phone availability.

Oh and Yes, I know in another page or two I will answer this again. Does that matter? No, I will gladly answer again.

END RANT!

That's one way of looking at it. Another would be to recognize that there is a great deal of activity in here, so the chance of something having already been asked and answered is pretty high, so maybe people could try using the "Search" function and spend their own time looking for something instead of having someone else spend their time repeatedly answering the same questions that people are too lazy to spend even a modicum of time trying to answer themselves. Not to mention, the same questions being asked over and over is one of the biggest reasons this beast is nearly 900 pages instead of 2-300.

I am not a person of faith, but the expression "God helps those who help themselves" seems to fit.

All I know for sure is when I put my Dare inside of the Incredible case, it stretched it out of shape width wise. The Dare is also noticeably thicker than the Incredible too.

Does verizon require a direct signature, or can i leave a note on the door when they deliver it?
Verizon does require a signature (even with accessories).
You can leave a note asking them to leave it with your neighbor or track it and pick it up at the local facility if you miss it.

That's odd, but I don't have that case here to try to put my Dare in, so I'll take your word for it. Is it possible that it is actually the extra thickness of the Dare that is causing the case to seem stretched out width wise? Because you are right that a 1mm difference in thickness, while it seems minor, could actually feel like a noticeable difference.

anyone know if this is correct? it is hard to find height/width dimensions of the screen itself. I always thought the moto droid's screen was a little too narrow for my taste and was under the impression that the inc screen was a little wider more like the iphones. either way, I have it pre ordered and will be happy with it, just curious...

never mind, found this quote from nashdroid in another one of the forums...

"No. It is not the same. The Motorola DROID screen is 480x854 on a 3.7" screen. The Incredible is 480x800 just like the HTC Desire and the Nexus One. So, the screen on the Moto DROID is actually more of a narrow and taller screen (in portrait orientation) when stretched to 3.7", where the Incredible is a wider screen (in portrait orientation) but not quite as tall."

I called my local verizon store this morning to ask if they had a demo I could play with. Of course he said no, and wouldn't you know it I got a complete idiot on the phone....again. First he said the launch was next friday so i corrected him. Then I told him I had a droid that i was not completely happy with and would like to return it for the incredible within my 30 days. He told me that the incredible was the same as the droid eris just with a faster processor. It seems like verizon would tell their employees to try and sell the phone, not to try and not sell it.

I'll answer the same question over and over and over since it'll help my post count go up, AS LONG AS THE ASKER THANKS ME WHEN I DO IT!

I'm getting that feeling too. Seems like the Verizon reps don't like the Incredible. Although I think the one I talked to just wanted to sell the Droid but the other said straight up that he hates the Incredible. I asked why and he said something about HTC came from this other company, don't remember the name, and he didn't like them. Sure must have a big grudge to hate the Incredible just because of HTC's way past..

oh, and I'm not posting a pic of me in a low-cut shirt guys...sorry. No Banlandia for me thank you very much! Next time I'll just post which VZW and you can go see for yourselves. lol

3,000 miles away makes that difficult.
Which store? What time?, I said difficult, not impossible.:)

TIP: How to find out what you need to know on this Incredible forum without having to read all the pages and therefore help yourself and others by not having to repeat stuff over and over again. Simply go to the "New Thread" box located on the main HTC Incredible page, 'click' on "New Thread", type in a few short words relating to your query, left 'click' your mouse and look at the previous threads and just click on the one that's closest to what you need. Saves a lot of time...

Does verizon require a direct signature, or can i leave a note on the door when they deliver it?
Yes, they require a signature, but it doesn't need to be your signature. A neighbor, co-worker at the office, etc. can sign for it.
Also, someone posted, waayyyyy back (by now), that there is a release form from FedEx you can download, print, and sign, that will accomplish the same thing.

yea he acted surprised that someone could actually not like the droid. and its not that i don't like the droid its just that i like the incredible 10 times better. i wonder if they are getting more incentive to clear out some of the overstocked droids and eris' possibly.

the tp2 has this. if you took movies you want to share with family, or if you ripped a movie to your phone and wanted to share it, it would be a great accessory. only problem i see is you can't charge the phone while using the cable.

Check out my post from yesterday. Your concerns have already been addressed by HTC.
