we all know the phone is fast and awesome but some people keep talking about the exterior and back of the phone being cheap as you said so i love positive reviews on this aspect of the phone. :)

It was the first thing I thought to check, as I was worried too.

No reason to be worried - I think people were just trying to find a reason to gripe.

I forgot to check - does anyone know if it features Swype functionality?

Hi all,

This forum has certainly been quite entertaining, and every so often somewhat informative. Much like everybody else, I have been anxiously waiting for the release of the HTC Inc. Much of what I know has been from 1) filtering out useable information from this forum, 2) online searches, and 3) Verizon (online and personal contacts). However, I am still unsure of many facts, and hopefully there are the knowledgeable few who can provide some enlightenment.

I've tried to search for these features in earlier portions of this thread, but by the time I read one post, there are at least 5 or more new posts, and I cannot spend all of my free time trying to catch up on the 44,000+ posts.

Directly from VZW.com:

- I am assuming this phone is either capable or upgradeable to 4G (whenever this rolls out in Verizon), and I assume this because it will be such a waste to send out a new phone that is not 4G-capable. VZW.com lists the Inc as EVDO Rev A (3G) with no info for 4G capability. I've talked with several verizon peeps, who basically regurgitated this info from the web without any definitive answer.

- Also, I wonder if they still plan to underclock the processor (to 756 Mhz?) to save on battery life.

- Does the Inc only have one camera? I ask because the Evo 4G coming out thru Sprint has two cameras (8 MP on primary, and 1.3 MP front facing for vid conferencing, social networking, etc).

- Has anyone else been frustrated with Verizon's "method" of organizing the playlists?

- Also, will we have to use VZNavigator with the Inc? Or can we use a 3rd party GPS program if it becomes available? I think this was an issue with some of the Blackberry devices in the past.

- Is this correct? Other HTC phones are capable of 32GB with microSD.

Thank you.

you just blew my mind

No, it won't upgrade to 4G. (LTE)

- Also, I wonder if they still plan to underclock the processor (to 756 Mhz?) to save on battery life.

No, it is not underclocked.

- Does the Inc only have one camera? I ask because the Evo 4G coming out thru Sprint has two cameras (8 MP on primary, and 1.3 MP front facing for vid conferencing, social networking, etc).

It does not have 2 cameras.

- Has anyone else been frustrated with Verizon's "method" of organizing the playlists?

I don't know anything about Verizon playlists.

- Also, will we have to use VZNavigator with the Inc? Or can we use a 3rd party GPS program if it becomes available? I think this was an issue with some of the Blackberry devices in the past.

Google Maps is preloaded and gives turn by turn directions.

- Is this correct? Other HTC phones are capable of 32GB with microSD.

Thank you.

It will work with a 32GB card, but they are brand new and as expensive as this phone ($200) so they don't advertise that capacity.

I screwed up the quote when I first posted, but now my replies are now in bold and italics.

As you can see from the multitude of quick responses - all this information was very readily available and you should have been able to find it yourself pretty easily.

"Can the Sense UI be disabled similarly to the Desire? - purevenge

Eh, look. here's where we stand on this. If you buy the Droid Incredible, you're buying a Sense device. If you just have to get rid of Sense, wait until the thing's rooted and ROM'd and do it right. Don't go trying to kill essential parts of the OS."

Ok, look. This question has been asked numerous, numerous times. And every time I've seen the response on this website (which I love), a straight answer has always been dodged. Am I missing something? Is the answer a touchy subject? Is AF sponsored by HTC? I just don't understand what's so hard about giving a straight answer? Can Sense UI be disabled and if not, what will it look like with as many Sense features disabled? Can anyone help me out here?

Disclaimer: I love this website, its staff, and the members of this forum. I am in no way bashing anyone, nor am I trolling; I'm just very confused.

Edit: And yes I will root when the phone is cracked. Thats not an issue for me.

while i was at the mall today i stopped by the verizon kiosk and asked if they had a demo unit...they did! but it was the "fake" version without the real hardware.

Either way, here's what I noticed actually looking, touching and holding the device...

- The weight is perfect, not too heavy, not too light.
- The quality seemed top notch, nothing felt loose, or cheap, etc, it actually felt like one of the best quality phones i've held
- the camera bezel is actually an anodized red metal, not the bright red plastic that it looked like from some of the pictures. I was happy about that.
- It's nice and thin, the back cover isn't distracting at all, and it felt nice.
- the optical trackpad is ugly, i wish it wasnt there, really distracts from the overall look of the phone, i wish this phone looked more like the Evo. Is it a dealbreaker? Nope.
- Phone seemed to have a slightly smaller screen than my droid, i agree with another member that said it looked more narrow.

that's about it, it was pretty much what I was hoping for... a few things they could have changed to make it perfect, but overall i think i will be pretty happy with it!

Does anyone else think that *611 should have a message that says "press X if you want someone to confirm that we do still have your pre-order and we will ship it to you next week?"

I actually thought the optical pad was nice.

It is REALLY small, and the button is rather small as well.

Took me no time at all to get the hang of it.

The camera function is really cool as well - the touch to focus, the options panel - it was all as advertised.

The touchscreen was very responsive - i'm coming from a BB Curve, and I really tested out the keyboard - I was able to type as fast as on my Curve with no mistakes - and the buttons are so much bigger than on my Curve!

My buddy picked up a mytouch at Tmobile when we were there, and that was my first introduction to Swype, and now I think it's the coolest thing since sliced bread - happy it will eventually be in the android marketplace.

@ Webflunkie, Thank you. Those answers were all I needed.

@ Hovercraftdriver25, seriously?! I sincerely did not think they were offensive or naive questions. These are just some things I wanted some clarification on. I've tried to search for these topics, and I've been trying to follow this thread. But trying to search through 44,000+ posts on a single thread? I'll apologize to you if I caused you any trauma. And yes, I found your reply to be harsh.

I'm just waiting to get the incredible into my little hands.....

Anybody have a google voice invite they want to get rid of????? Please, please..... :)

OK so I'm stupid... what is the advantage to GV account? And please be patient; at least this isn't about calling my CSR. Thanks.

If you will root it then the answer for you is YES, Sense can be disabled. Don't stress over it. There is a video on the web that shows how it can be done on a desire and you can see exactly how it works. If this same method does in fact work for the Incredible then you will be happy. If not then I guess you will have to wait to root it, which you said you would do anyway. :0

there are other places to find answers to your questions than a 900 page thread, thats all.

You can also set rules and conditions to block or forward to any phone number you wish. For example you can set a rule where when you're at home, both your home phone and your cell would ring.

I think the point is that there are official specs everywhere on the web for this phone as well as on the verizon website. it would have taken you exactly 10 seconds to google this and find all the info you could possibly ever want on this phone. it literally takes people longer to type out the answers than it would have to just done a google search. some of the questions you were asking have been answered for months. maybe it might be hard to find your answers on this thread but just simply by googling "official htc incredible specs" or looking at the dozens and dozens of reviews of the phone you could have found all your answers very easily

Oh, you can also send free text messages through your GV number. You should seriously try to get an invite. This service alone makes me want to switch to Android from Iphone.
