I've activated/changed phones online a few times it's easy and quick.

People need to go read Kappy's INCREDIBLE BATTERY thread.

I know everyone is excited but as soon as you get your phone you should turn it off and charge it fully before ever turning it on and doing anything.

It says it in the manual and I have ALWAYS been told that. I know it's impossible if you get it in store because they turn it on and activate it, but for you guys/gals having it delivered I would charge it first!

If you buy in store, turn it off as soon as it is activated and go home and charge it fully (turned off). Make sure that first charge is a good one and that it is turned off. From my past experiences, I really think this makes a difference.

I know it is hard to wait, but be patient :) You can always check out www.androidzoom.com and look at the APPs and pick out ones you want to download once the phone is charged. I already created my APP list! It might save you all some time (and battery life) because you will know what APPs you wanna go get first!! ;)

EDIT: The link to the battery thread is in my signature. It is lengthly and I copied stuff from the user guide, the eris battery thread, and used my own opinions, so take the info. for what it's worth. I just wanted to provide everyone with some info/tips. Thanks!

I stopped into one of the best buy mobile stores last night and they said on the 18th you can pay the $50 to reserve the phone and on the 29th there will be one waiting at the store for you. They specifically said you cannot take one home on the 18th.
never mind

Wow, post #1500. I am glad I reached it on here before this thread closes...

I just want to say to everyone that I hope you all enjoy your incredible's! I have no doubt that this phone will be awesome. I also want to thank everyone in this thread for making it interesting, informative, enjoyable, and most importantly, FUN! I know there are several people (I won't mention any names *cough* Absolution *cough*:p:D) who dislike my posts and think what I (and others) post is useless and just clogs up the thread and I apologize for making you feel that way. It was all in fun and not meant to be disrespectful or pull down the thread (or make it so your lazy @sses have to read a little more  JK/JK!!!!:D). As for the people who I have pissed off :o I still like you guys/gals and value your posts and appreciate the information you have offered.

Even tho the majority of my posts are on this thread and probably 90% of them aren't even close to as important as NKT's and Anon's, I hope they made some of you laugh or at least got you thinking about something.

Lastly, I want to especially thank Steven58, MM, NKT, Nash, Woody (I know there are a bunch of others) who have kept this thing going through the rough times and offered some quality comic relief. Finally, Anon, thanks a lot for being a good guide and helping me out with some advice on the battery thread.

Oh, I should probably thank the MODs for not banning me too! Thanks!:D

I have just called 1-888-bestbuy and it is confirmed that they are do a Pre-Sale meaning buy and take home not pre order. so yes you can get the phone on the 19th :) and will also go to any best buy with a mobile department hope this helps everyone :)

ok guys/girls these two statements directly contradict each other...

SOMEONE TELL ME THE TRUTH DARN IT!@@

so its nice to be a Best Buy silver rewards member. I just got a bunch of coupons and one of them was for 1000 bonus points if you activate a smartphone with Best Buy. But the coupon expires on the 4/25 prior to the release of the phone and I told her I would pre-order it on 4/18 and she said that if I dont get the 1000 points ($20 rewards check for Best Buy) that they would still give it to me since she doesn't know and noted my account that they would do it

I always thought you were supposed to drain the battery first and the charge it. That's what i've been told on other phones and devices. Kappy, what you are saying is that true for all devices or just the incredible?

There's ALWAYS been a lot on confusion about battery charging/care.

With the old NiCad batteries the rules were much more clear because they had a clearly defined "memory"

Some people still try to apply those rules to new batteries...

NEW batteries the "rules" are mostly anecdotal, other then the owners manuals of "most" new phones recommending that you fully charge phone before first use.

Its very subjective and most people use theories and black magic rules...

The ONLY scientific information I've read, suggests newer batteries like a Li-ion battery perform better the closer their kept to a full charge. BUT that was YEARS ago and may have changed....

Its so sad but I actually got work done last night while the site was down...

Is it safe to say that we have officially surpassed the ominous "two weeks" milestone? ;)
T-Minus 13 Days

Hi guys I just got home from work. I have only posted 2 or 3 times cause I mostly read but been waiting for Verizon to come out with something this size since the iPhone. Girlfriend has the droid and its bad ass.

I work at best buy and if you look at my couple of posts I have been dead on.

My theory unless there is a secret shipment or something I don't know about but I could be wrong here is the schedule I have been given

Pre orders start 18th.

25th we receive shipment and goes in that Sundays best buy mobile buyers guide.

Night of 25th goes on display with sign saying available 29th and will also be in 29th's best buy ad.

Sorry but don't know how we can sell it if we dont stock it till 25th. Hope this helps sorry to be the barrier of bad news

Dont know if this is relevant anymore, but my corp Verizon rep just emailed me to let me know I can preorder from him on the 19th and he will ship on the 29th. he gave full details on the phone and their internal marketing that went to all Verizon reps. Guess this is all done now.

I am not contradicting the BB preorder of 18th. my Corp rep doesn't work on Sunday ;) So for him, I can't order till 19th.

Congrats everyone! I am getting one for my GF and I am waiting for he Evo, so we can have the best of both worlds.

For all the complaining I did about the chaos of this thread, I want to say I appreciate those that tried to keep it in order and especially to those that found so much awesome information.

Well done!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Which is the best purchase option:

1) Verizon $199.99 + $35 activation fee with in store training etc.
2) BB $199.99 + $35 activation fee, potential early release date
3) Costco $199.99, includes no activation fee and cheap A$$ accessory bundle

Actually, #1 is not correct...should read $299.99 + $35 activation fee with $100 rebate (2-6 weeks) and training that you can find on YouTube.

I go by what the manual says. I also follow the tips (the best I can) that I put in the battery thread with my cell phone, iPod, and any other rechargable electronic device I own that has a similar type battery. I typically get pretty good battery life out of my devices. I also do not use them as heavy/much as most people.

I think a person's usage patterns really determines the battery life and if they don't abuse the battery. If the manual says charge first, I would do it. Now if you don't charge it fully first, will your damage the battery? No, probably not (otherwise why would they activate the phone in store without a full charge?), but I have read where the first few full cycles (like 3) are important for the battery...

Again this is stuff I have read/practiced and it seems to work for me. I am just offering my opinions and views on it. I know everyone will be different. I hope that helps.

not sure if anyone have posted this already, but does anyone have any idea how many phones they will have in each Best Buy Mobile store?

I'd love to pick it up Sunday, but just the thought of getting to a store hours before it opens just to get in line and pray you'll be there early enough to get one turns me off.

How to prolong lithium-based batteries

I don't doubt you.

From my personal experience, if I charge or with past phones, have charged the phone before it was past 50% battery life, the battery would die quicker. With past phones, if I did it for a long time or constantly, the battery turned to crap. Again, just my personal experience. I have had my enV2 for over 2 years and I am still on the original battery and it works pretty well. Ideally, I would like to wait until it is at 35% or so battery life before charging fully, but that is hard to do sometimes. I also, never put it on the charger for a little while, then take it off and go. I may be absolutely wrong, but I think (and from past experiences) effs the battery up big time.

I always charge with the phone turned off and wait until it gets to 50% or less though. Just my .002 cents :D

Is this battery a Li-Ion or a Li-Poly?

No brainer, brother...they made the sale, majority are clueless, and they don't give a 5H1T...just sayin

Very good point, the tool who works behind the counter usually doesn't care. Plus if they eff up the battery, they can sell you another.

NOT SAYING ALL VZW EMPLOYEES ARE TOOLS, but the ones who work at my store are
