I stopped into one of the best buy mobile stores last night and they said on the 18th you can pay the $50 to reserve the phone and on the 29th there will be one waiting at the store for you. They specifically said you cannot take one home on the 18th.

Correct. Just a pre-order, but confusingly worded as "pre-sale". There are some BB employess also wanting the phone where I live (store two miles from my work). They WISH it was the 18th too ;)

Thanks! So I could get the incredible at a 1 year price and get my discount then ($50 for me)

Based on what he told me, yes. He mentioned that if you buy it outright then you will not renew your 2 yr contract but using the discount results in renewal of contract. Sounded as if they only have 2 yr contracts. Clarify when you go in and pick up your incredible on the 29th.

Thanks, will do! I'm not payin' $550 outright, but I'd pay like $269 if the 1 year ends up being $70 more than the 2 year price.

Actually, if what you are saying is true, it could be - $369 1 year price - $100 online/mail-in rebate - my $50 = $219. vs $150 on a NE2 contract.

No, this is through our Rep through our corporate plan. I was expecting her to say the 29th, so you can imagine my surprise when she said the 26th. I asked her again to be sure and she said Monday the 26th.

Nice! Thats pretty exciting, sounds like a good time to be on a corporate plan with Big Red. So we can look forward to pictures on the 26th?

I don't doubt you.

From my personal experience, if I charge or with past phones, have charged the phone before it was past 50% battery life, the battery would die quicker. With past phones, if I did it for a long time or constantly, the battery turned to crap. Again, just my personal experience. I have had my enV2 for over 2 years and I am still on the original battery and it works pretty well. Ideally, I would like to wait until it is at 35% or so battery life before charging fully, but that is hard to do sometimes. I also, never put it on the charger for a little while, then take it off and go. I may be absolutely wrong, but I think (and from past experiences) effs the battery up big time.

I always charge with the phone turned off and wait until it gets to 50% or less though. Just my .002 cents :D

geez... compared to you guys, I'm a battery abuser.

Good morning, everyone! This thread never sleeps

Yeah... I'd hesitantly pay full price. Way to addicted to this phone to let anything stand in the way!

ME :( I get no discount till Oct 2010

I tried getting everyone here to send me $1 but so far nothing.

Question: who in this thread is paying retail for the Incredible?

Another question: If you aren't paying retail for it, would you if you weren't upgrade-eligible?

Out of all of my 5 lines, none of them are eligible for promo pricing until next year. $600 makes me a little sad, especially considering I'll be lucky to get 1/3 of that for my Eris on Craigslist or eBay. :(

Glad I'm not the only one. I'm NE2 eligible in October, but I don't want to re-up since I plan on doing 1 year contracts from now on. I'm guessing you can't get the manufacturer's mail in rebate on an unsubsidized phone, correct?

They have had a overwhelming amount of people wanting to use their new keyboard... So they are no longer accepting new beta applicants at this time.

In other words, you can't get swype right now unless you root your phone, they reopen their beta, or they release the full version of their keyboard on their website or in the market.

Sorry!

noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Here you go, you can sideload the application onto the phone, no rooting necessary. Android = awesome.

Which is the best purchase option:

1) Verizon $199.99 + $35 activation fee with in store training etc.
2) BB $199.99 + $35 activation fee, potential early release date
3) Costco $199.99, includes no activation fee and cheap A$$ accessory bundle

Without knowing much about Costco, I'd go with BestBuy since you get the $100 rebate instantly (in the form of a discount). Verizon mails you a debit card a few weeks later.

im thinking I want the standard 2.1 gallery instead of the Sense gallery. I like the 3D look with the tilt view. I dont like the film strip look on sense. What do u guys think? This phone is gonna be sooo sick.

Have KNOW it comes with 8gig internal...has anyone confirmed if it comes with the 8 gig sdhc card? Or was that just a rumor?

Actually, I'm looking forward to the HTC Gallery - the reason people were saying that the Nexus One's screen was bad was because the Gallery 2.1 application was reducing the color depth (number of colors displayed) within the gallery. Hopefully the HTC one will be free of this problem. That being said, you may be able to download it from the Market.

Also, re:the SDHC card - not sure due to conflicting information, we'll see once this phone gets in the hands of testers/experts/reviewers.

I'm so psyched for this phone. There's a BBM nearby at the Pentagon, so I'll given them a call a little later to get clarification of the "pre-sale".

Sorry if this has already been answered ...

Did the FM tuner make it to the release phone? I have yet to see it in the spec sheets that have been released so far. Though I have read user comments that it is definitely in the phone.

Thanks

yes, it's in the specs. listen away, but you need headphones to use it.

Ok so here's a great question. I have only been on Verizon since last August, and I'm not due to upgrade until this August (obviously). Would Best Buy help me finagle an upgrade or would I have more luck begging a VZW rep over thephone? Also, when can I start begging a VZW rep over the phone?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but looking through all the pages, I don't think we have an answer..
Has it been CONFIRMED (yay/nay?) that the 8gb of onboard storage is able to handle the apps? Or are we will limited to the smaller mb?
Thanks:D

I think yay

Please pardon my ignorance, but are you saying I don't have to go to a VZ store to switch phones/lines? I'll be using the wife's upgrade to get this phone and trading phones with her. Could I actually order the phone with her upgrade and then activate it to my number online?

Thanks in advance. :)

Yes, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to use another phones new every 2 discount and when the phone's delivered, I dial *228 send and the press option 3, then follow the directions and the phone is activated on my line.

Begging a VZW rep (or possibly even visiting a VZW store in person) will probably yield better results.

Is their an App to get around that or would you have to root? Or is it not possible?

The headphone requirement is because the headphone cable serves as an antenna. Without it you'll get little to no signal.

It depends, I've heard of people getting upgrades with up to 2 months left on their NE2. Personally, I have 3 months left by the time the 29th rolls around. I'd advise you to just give it to them straight and see what they say. For myself, I'm the main line on a family plan that has been with verizon for a long time and I still have younger siblings in my family who go through about a new phone every year and pay full price for the phones normally. I also want to eventually set my dad up with a smart phone as he's had the same phone since '04-'05. You just have to sell them on all the business you'll bring them instead of the other way around ;)

Maybe. But I'm sure we'll be flooded with pictures and videos before that.

Yeah, maybe, if Anon ever admits he an Incredible on him...

Hey Guys, Long time....First time - and all that!

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but the Best Buy Mobile stores can only have 3 carriers in each one, so you have to make sure that the one's you're looking at actually HAVE Verizon.

If you're in GA, the Mall of GA BBY Mobile does NOT have it, but the one in North Point Mall does.

You can change plans online pretty easily on VZW website. You just need to register. After I get my Incredible, I plan on changing from two individual plans (mine and my wifes) to one family plan with my number as the primary (this saves me $5 per month). This can all be done online per the CSR I talked to last night so I'm sure you can do it too.

I'd try begging VZ. I dunno if they'll listen though.

I assume you signed a one year contract since you're saying you're eligable this August? The upgade eligability is actually 11 months for a one year contract, so you'd really only be officially waiting until September.

Having said that, Best Buy can't touch your upgrade dates. They're very clear that if those dates are going to be fudged that'll happen from VZW and VZW alone. I'd recommend walking into a store, personally; but you're probably not going to have much/any luck with that until July at the absolute earliest (and that's really pushing it). Sorry for the overall bad news.

You may want to consider opening a second line and paying an additional $40 (as opposed to $30 [if you don't have a smartphone at this point]) a month if you just can't wait.
