So, I guess my other question is, will the N5 have OTG with root. I was never clear whether the N4's OTG problem, due to lack of proper voltage, could be overcome with rooting since I never rooted it before giving it to my son. Is the N5 capable but requires rooting or does it suffer from the N4's problem? Maybe this is something we don't know yet.

Well, Sprint is only up for pre-order so it won't say anything else. The phone is officially out on the 8th through Sprint.

Yes. They both actually have the feature but is turned off and root allows it to be of use. I'm sure it will be of use once rooted.

Update here is the method of getting it to work on the Nexus 4 http://www.androidcentral.com/android-advanced-usb-otg-nexus-4 . I'm sure a similar if method will be out for the Nexus 5. This feature is rather popular. Google likes to remove it for some reason. Their head is in the clouds.

That's what they say on the order status page. But when I called and asked to be sure they said it would ship on the 8th. Either that agent was clueless, or they don't know their ass from their elbow!

I never trust the agents. I believe tech savvy customers like us know a lot more then them when it comes to these devices in what they can do and in general. Usually when you pre-order anything it arrives to you the day of release. That's been my experience with pre-ordering in general and once before with Sprint. I guess you shall see. I look forward to you updating us all with the arrival of the device come the 8th.

Can you buy a Nexus from google and never activate it on any provider or do you have to tell them your provider? I might get one for wifi only.

I bought it from the playstore, and there's no mention anywhere of a wireless provider.

When you get the device in hand you just pop in your Sim and you're good to go.

If you want WiFi only, just don't pop in a Sim :)

It's unlocked so it will only work on the providers it's provided with. Being unlocked requires no mentioning of what carrier you want to activate with. It's just buying the phone and that's it.

Does anyone know if it supports DC-HSPA? I've been looking everywhere and I can't find anything apart from the GSM bands. Im hoping it does as Three have HSPA speeds at almost 4G :D

The North American Nexus 5 does, and since the only difference between the NA and European model seems to be LTE frequencies, I would assume yours will as well.

That is the regular price on eBay. it seems like they have the sale several times a week. Check slickdeals.net periodically and you will see the sale on their front page.

I work for sprint they have not officially told us yet they just sent out an email letting us know of release date and so forth. I will be asking around and post as soon as I hear something.

Yea I hate it when they do that well any reps do that. I am getting the phone as well and am very curious as to when it will be shipped.
