Official "I JUST ORDERED THE NEXUS 5!!!" Thread

There's a lot that I like about the Nexus 5 that I don't have on my iPhone and I think that I'd be fine with using the Nexus 5 as my regular phone if I had an iPad Mini for the iOS Apps that I like to use. The Nexus 5 gets more and more impressive as I use it (which I don't very much as it belongs to my wife). I'm on contract for another year and I'm sure that there will be a new iPhone or two and a new Nexus as well.

My order shipped yesterday!!!! I placed my order on 11/1/13 around 4. I got the 16gb black.

When I placed my order is said leaving warehouse in 3-4 weeks

No one really has to wait that long. I believe that's an estimation of when they won't be backlogged anymore.

Ugh had to sell my Nexus 5! Verizon is the only carrier that gives me the coverage I need in my area. Loved the phone too. Oh well back to my s4.

My 32 black, ordered evening of Nov 1, is shipping today (had been estimated by the 22nd, like everyone else)!! I saw the pending charge on my bank account last night, so I was relieved to see the shipping email this morning! Should have my new TMo sim by the time the phone shows up... just wish Saturday delivery for the phone had been an option! :)

ETA (update: everything showed up at my doorstep on Friday (sim card included)! Nexus 5 on TMo!!)

I showed a pending bank charge on the 12th, now there is no record of it in my bank account. I was excited thinking I'll get it early but know it doesn't look like it.

Ordered Nov. 1 with a leaves by warehouse 11-22 message. Received shipment notice tonight. I will potentially leave Verizon; contract is up 12-14. I'll be trying Go Phone.

Don't do GoPhone. Out of all the prepaid carriers it is THE most expensive. $50/month for 250min and 1gb of data PERIOD. When you can get AIOS wireless which is from at&t so its the same service, but unlimited everything for $55/month.

I am currently using the straight talk att Sim, which is again the same service but through Walmart for $45/month unlimited everything. Next month I'm switching to T-Mobile for 100min with unlimited text and data for $30/month.

Explore your options man. There are many prepaid services with many options, but I personally suggest to stay away from GoPhone, especially when the same company runs the same prepaid service under a different name for cheaper.

GoPhone currently offers unlimited talk/text with 2gb of data for 60 a month with no speed throttles like aio does.

I've used Gophone for years, from when they were actually about the only choice for prepaid, non-contract data (2009 on a Nokia 5800). I like the reliable service, I like the fact that customer service has actually always been good and pretty well informed and I like that I don't have to mess with settings... just pop in the SIM and go. I also like that you buy the data and it's yours. You can do with it pretty much anything you want, hotspot, whatever. Saving $15 a month just isn't enough motivation for me to switch, especially when I see so many people struggling with ST. The T-Mobile plan is great, but I don't get sufficient coverage (don't believe their coverage maps).

Definitely do research and get the best deal you can, but I'm happy with my AT&T $60 Gophone plan. If I need more data in a month (haven't ever yet) I can add 1Gb for $10.

Thanks for posting this. I currently have an old AT&T plan - from when it was Cingular. I pay roughly $90/mo but it's one of the truly unlimited data/texting plans that they don't offer anymore (only get 500min/mo though). I want to save money and change to a prepaid plan (it's why I got the N5) but have been really scared of making a bad choice because, once I do this, I can't undo it. I've always been happy with my coverage - I simply want to save some money.
Maybe going with AT&T GoPhone will be the easiest transition for me to start with. At $60/mo that's a significant monthly savings.

Though, I have looked at my last years phone records and there are a few months where I am right at the 2.5gb mark for data. I might need to add the extra mb for $10/mo. Still, cheaper than I pay now.

Better late than never. Ordered 11/16 ships 12/11. Owch, it's ok though it will be here right when my Verizon contact is up then I'll be switching to AT&T shared. I'll probably sign a two year and get a G2 to sell and pay for the Nexus.

Thanks for the suggestions.I considered Straight Talk. However, after several considerations, reading reviews, talking to people who have both providers, I like the option of adding data if required through Go Phone.

My Verizon contract is up mid December; however, I will test drive pre-paid plans before I cancel with Verizon. So, I will compare both services and decide which service best fits my needs. Although, I switch phones often and I really like the idea of not signing a contract.

We have three GoPhone setups in our family and it works well for my son, wife and daughter. They have WiFi most of the time so they can make WiFi calls when they need to. The coverage is AT&T and it is excellent in the areas where we travel.

I have a $75 AT&T plan: 5 GB + hotspot. I don't need 5 GB but I need the hotspot and you only get the hotspot with 5 GB. My contract is up in a year and I will be looking at other options then. If Google can fix the shutter lag issue, then I could see myself with a Nexus 5 on a prepaid plan if I can get hotspot on the cheap. Or I could see myself with a Nexus 6.

BTW, the discussions on various plans here is great!

Just ordered mine. 32 GB black :D ships December 3 apparently, which is my birthday :D I was originally going to get the white one but it now says 3-4 weeks. So I just settled with the black :)
