The I9020A uses a different radio from the I9020T and I9023. The A uses 850/1900 UMTS while the T and 23 use AWS UMTS. The only update out so far is meant for the two AWS UMTS models.

It is possible to force the I9020T update to install onto the I9020A (as shown in the original post), but it involves rooting your phone and flashing several different files. I wouldn't recommend it for novices. Plus, we don't know how stable the final result really is.
 
I used to be able to fully edit contact details. I frequently copy & paste things into contact fields. But there does not seem to be a way to paste anymore.

And the address edit does not seem to allow field by field edit - i.e. street, city, province/state, country, etc as separate fields. It's now one big text field.

This is disappointing. How can you take out features?
 
I know some people are saying the phone is going faster with the update - I've noticed mine being slow. To load contacts it takes quite a few seconds, much slower than before and to the point that it becomes frustrating to make a phone call.
 
Another issue I discovered is that when I plug it into my car charger - it will no longer charge! could this be an issue with ICS or probably not?
 
Strange that so many people are having issues. I seem to be the lucky one in all of this. No charging issues, no internet issues and no call issues.

However, one problem. Opera Mobile can load webpages from the history and speed dial but the search and URL barl doesn't work! I type things in, click search, it tries but then fails every time. I'd use the default browser but I'm really used to Opera. Anyone else know how to fix this?

You are right about that, i havent noticed untill now. But i found a workaround, it works if you add www. infront of the adress. The google search bar didnt work either, but then i just type something random then pressed space, it worked, and after that the search worked for me :/

Funny how everyone has a different issue with a "STABLE" official version of the OS ... NO ??? I'll run CM9 nightly as soon as it is available and still be bug-less..ier then official versions :| THAT'S JUST ... Google ,i think.. & i'm beginning to hate them !

Try uninstalling Opera Mobile and then re-installing it. I don't have any problems with the search bar in Opera Mobile, but I came from a custom kernel and had to do a wipe before updating.


For anyone having issues with specific apps, try uninstalling it and then re-installing it.

For people who are having system issues (freezing, random reboots, slow performance). You may want to consider doing a Data Wipe/Factory Reset from the recovery console and reflashing the update.
 
For those having wifi issues, make sure your router isn't in channel 11 or 12, the nexus a uses a low power wifi radio which has been known to have issues.

after I turned off the phone for about 7 hrs last night, there are no reboots anymore but Wifi doesnt work and the battery is draining fast, media storage has 56% of battery.
 
Guys, are these issues with the official carrier OTA updates? Or did you guys do so manually?

If OTA, then we've got some big issues. That would be a major tech fail by Google.

I'm got the OTA update and like I said, no issues except one or two with apps. But that is most definitely a compatibility issue of the apps rather than an ICS issue.
 
Ok, I would recommend a factory data reset if you had issues after the upgrade. after wiping it and reinstalling all 80 apps (through google backup) the wifi issue, phone number not being shown and general unresponsiveness got a lot better.

I am now a much happier ICS bunny :D

I whole hartedly agree. I have absolutely no issues with ICS - only a very few apps aren't quite working as before. Reinstalling has resolved most. Everything is quicker. Features from previous GB, like voice dictation, are just so much better. Contacts are much neater and more. Love it!:)
 
Update: After talking to my carrier the two problems below were rectified (it was a proxy issue). The texting problem is still existant but they think it might be SIM card related. I guess that means that so far I don't seem to have issues with ICS itself, however I haven't really tried much!

Since installing ICS on my Google Nexus S I'm no longer able to :

* Download apps
* Login to websites as it says 'cookies are disabled' but in the browser settings they are enabled.

I'm also having trouble texting out, but this has been a recurring problem.

I've done a factory reset to try to solve the problems after the installation, but no success!
My phone seems to be running faster and smoother, but if I can't do anything it's worthless. :(

Any suggestions? Should I try rooting it? (note I'm a n00b at rooting; never tried it!).

Compared to wifi and UI issues after the ICS upgrade this might be an even bigger issue - after the upgrade, I for most of the time cannot make any outgoing call - it says "call ended" instantaneously after pushing the call button. The other times - after uninstalling GO Contacts dialer, making a number of reboots, killing apps via TaskKiller - I sometimes get lucky to make a call, but it almost always end abruptly after some 10 seconds and says my SIM card needs to be replaced to connect to the GSM network and offers to reboot. After rebooting it sometimes allows to make a call, and sometimes does not, but generally problem persists.

Additionally (perhaps related to this issue) I noticed that I cannot APN/Data on (widget does not work, I turn it on in settings, but - no effect), and the battery seems to drain a bit faster (I suspect that could be because of antenna/GSM connection issue).

I do not know how widespread this issue is, but it seems to be happening at least for some unhappy Nexus S owners, I started a thread on Google Mobile help forums and a few persons confirmed the issue.

I am a bit confused where I could/should report the issue to the ICS developers - I have registered the phone to wherever possible when I got it, but I had never to report a major bug (apart from Google Mobile forums) so maybe someone more experienced would advise if and where I could report this issue.

I got my OTA update the other day, just a couple of bugs ive come across so far...

1) Contacts names dont show up when i get a Text message, just there phone number , which can be confusing.

2) Sometime when i click on "Combined View" in the email app to view multiple (2) inbox's, it force closes.
 
Was this update for all the Nexus S as announced by google, also includes the I9020A, in the period that google said, or is it never going to happen??
