**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

Funny thing is.... the 21st of December is the winter solstice.... coincidence? I think not

Annnyhoooo... Has anyone heard whether or not the 12th of June has been confirmed or is it just another in a long string of poorly founded rumors?

I was thinking the same thing, but I've run across a few sites that are claiming this is true... only time will tell, I guess. Just trying to figure out when I need to flash back to GB and get on the "official" update path...
I really don't care all that much about the official update, but it is holding up our developers from creating anything new for our device. I wouldn't want to build a ROM for an outdated version of android either...

Well, it's said that it's based on truth (isn't that what they all say though) but until it's here or VZW says the date or loud... it's just a rumor IMO.

Agreed, I'll have to do the same. Won't happen until confirmed rootable though! :)

The sad thing is ICS is NOT all that and a bag of chips. About the only real improvement I've seen is the phone never gets stuck in landscape anymore.

Badly over hyped, no way it can live up to expectations, unless folks are delusional enough to convince themselves it utterly rocks.

Nope, just thinking the ROMs that will come from the source of ICS will rock, though....

Bugly you bring up a very good point.

Are there any devs working with the stable ics leaks to bring roms to the razr?
Im not asking for a timeline or eta. Just wanna know IF its being done.
And what kinda enviroments are devs working in, or what kinda setup are you running? Looking forward to seeing some of your hard labors.
Thanks for the time

Yes ive tryed the cm9 ports from the gnex.

I want to know if anyones working with the official razr leaks for a better customized ics rom, not a port using the gnex source code.

If or when ICS does come out, should you do a factory reset? Is it necessary?

I ask because I have so many ringtones for certain people, faces for particular phone numbers, alarms, etc.

Thanks.

Doing a factory reset is never necessary when installing an update.

However, it's always a very good idea, especially with a completely new version of the OS. Doing so will give the system a clean slate to work with. Not only will the phone operate more smoothly, it will also limit potential issues and conflicts.

It's not necessary, but it's a really good idea.

Latest word is Tuesday the 12th.

Which has been obviously not true for a couple days now since there hasn't been a soak test.

Yeah, that rumor was mentioned in the past week or so but I've heard nothing since. I think someone did mention something about VZW needing to upgrade some servers first. From what little I understand, doesn't VZW do a soak test a few days ahead of the general release where they let some selected test users get it first? If so, you would expect to hear about the soak test first. So, I wonder if the soak test might go out 6/12 (tomorrow as I write this.)

Considering my MAXX says that Software Update is "unavailable at this time", they ARE definitely prepping the servers. Your 6/12 soak test theory might be spot-on.

That seems to be the problem, when working with other devices, you can ROM from several different builds to get to the desired one. _with the RAZR, however, it seems we have to be on a specific build (like .75, for example) in order to "upgrade" to another ROM. The new ROM has to have the build you are coming from in the file name, from what I've seen so far in order for the device to recognize it as valid for "upgrade".
I could be off, but it seems that is how it works. That would be why you have to upgrade in stages when doing official updates after fastbooting. Complicated and time consuming...

That doesn't necessarily mean they're prepping the servers. It says that from time to time even when an update isn't expected. Any number of things could be the cause of it.
