**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

are all these people/companies/blogs, etc just guessing? I am so disappointed. I've delayed rooting just to get the update....

Just go ahead and root. When the update comes out I guarantee you will be able to download and install the update as a ROM. It will be the exact same software as the OTA, only with root. Honestly you'll get it faster this way, you have Titanium backup/etc that makes the update process much safer and you will have root. With any OTA update, there is no certainty that there will be a root method after the update.

Well I did learn a good lesson. I simply made the mistake of listening to a store rep...thinking he knew what Jr was talking about. I didn't think he would flat out lie or state a guess as fact. Silly me

I'm starting to think that there will never be Official ICS for the RAZR/Maxx.

And that the end if unlimited data was planned to move phones that were not selling!

Just an FYI to everyone..called verizon today. Phone rep told me the ICS update is coming "this week". Not sure how much credibility there is behind his statement..but just figured I would pass it along.

I hope we do get ics this week!!! Getting tired of the BS. I've got a question maybe y'all will know the answer to. So they say old customers don't have to convert to the new plan right... well what if we add a line? That's what I did to get the RAZR cheap and switched it to my main number to have unlimited data.... will this still work?

I suspect we will get ICS before the end of June. I am okay with that, phone works fine as is. I am sure we still have some issues when we get it.

I'm a salesman as well. I work in the finance industry. All my calls are recorded and all my sales are kept in a fully detailed audit ready file that is retained for 7 years. Yes..a little off point here, but guessing or lying to get a sale would have disastrous results for me and my company. I don't understand how these salespeople are allowed/encouraged to say anything to get a sale, and there are no regulations or recourse against it.

I doubt that's happening, again no reports on the soak test nor have we even seen the official update page that Verizon usually puts up a few days before releasing updates.

As far as I am concerned, I will be excited to play around with ICS when we get it; but it's not disrupting my world without it. Personally, I think the Razr as is on the current build is a pretty dang good phone, battery power withstanding (although even that has improved).

I have way too many other things going on to get indignant about ICS being here or not.

Many (myself included) are unhappy the 12th came and went without ICS update...on some sites there was speculation that ICS wouldn't come until after the next wave of phones were realeased to coincide with the new Verizon data sharing plans on June 28th. If there is anything to learn from Verizon it is simply that they will go to any lengths to make an extra cent....which is why I think ICS is coming SOONER rather than later. Verizon did announce that the razr would become compatible with GSM in Europe and several have suggested that this update would be part of the ICS package. The Europe travel season is about to begin and I doubt that Verizon would want to miss out much longer on another opportunity to charge their exorbitant per minute voice and data rates while people are traveling to Europe this summer. There is far more revenue to be made with the summer travelers than for the few that will get out of their contracts to buy a new Verizon phone (just for ICS etc) on June 28th. Given a choice people would likely bring their razr to Europe rather than purchase a cheap European cell phone and sim card (with different phone number etc).

I hear you and agree, but these are usually hearsay and usually not challenged in a court of law.

The reason I am itching for it is that I am tired of data drops on my AOKP.
It's manageable, but annoying. I just want the finished product, ICS kernel, and then the devs will begin creating some killer roms.

It's like if santa wasn't sure what date he was bringing gifts. How would that go over with your kids, lol. And let's face it, we are all nerdy kids deep down inside, which is why we are discussing this.

Well, we don't have long to wait now. According to Moto (officially), we will see it start to roll out (somewhere) by or before the end of this month which is pretty much end of Q2.

It's not even in "testing" phase for Razr, just Development.
Unless I'm missing something, it says Q2, but that's not solid, nor is it a promise to the end of June.
And this info is as of May...

Which tells me Verizon is so busy "upgrading " their pricing structure that they have had to idle their own development of ics.

Yes, because their software developers also do pricing analysis. Ok, they actually don't do any development for phones. Motorola does, Verizon just tests it and gives feedback to Moto.

Of course it's not a promise. You can't guarantee anything in this sort of development process. At the best, they can make a good guess when it will be out but it's impossible to know how many problems will arise in the development process.

Yes, it's info from May. Saying we'd get the update sometime before July. If even they miss the mark, we can still expect it in a few weeks at the most.

I never said the same people do both jobs, did I? I was simply stating that is where the emphasis lies at Verizon....

Let me rephrase that then. Those two things have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other. Different people do that, who report to different supervisors, who report to different managers, directors, etc, who report to different vice presidents. Saying they aren't working as hard on the update because they're busy changing their pricing model is as crazy as saying the 3rd floor mens room in Best Buy's headquarters is flithy because their putting an emphasis on expanding sales at Best Buy Mobile stores in the 3rd quarter.
