I am not necessarily looking for easy, just not rooting. I see places where people say its possible; however, no instructions or link to the appropriate file.

Waiting is for the dead. Just sayin'! :p

I wouldn't worry about that. Once the update is "sent" to your phone it is sent. The next time you turn on data it will be there.

Just out of curiosity why do you turn data off at night? Why not just connect to wifi a leave it on?
 
Hey fellas, (Android 4.0)

Any way I can push Ice Cream sandwich to my Droid 4 or my wife's Razr Maxx now, since Verizon is dragging their feet like a bunch of procrastinating goofs?

Cnet said it would be out June 12th 2012... although an anonymous tipster said it would roll out June 27th, at least before June 30th according to sources.

I have not seen any reports of any follow-up emails from Moto about the soak test. I can neither confirm nor deny that a "friend" got the first email, filled out the survey, and has heard nothing since.

Good question. If it was scrapped after the first email was sent, I think that would be a first.

I just tried to update. Got a message saying update is unavailable at this time, to try later. This could be a pre-cursor to the ICS update. Ironic since I was thinking about doing a factory reset this weekend to clean some cobwebs.

90% of the users have no idea what a 'soak' is, so probably not. Dont forget, the members of this and other Razr forums make up only a fraction of the number of Razr users out there. We all here know what a soak test is but if you say that word around the average joe who simply texts, Facebooks, and plays some games, they are gonna sit there trying to decide whether to ask you what the hell your talking about or punch you.

hehehe.. you prolly got that because of the traffic. everyone and thier brother is hitting the update button every 5 minutes ever since Verizon put out the announcement. i got it a few times

I use smart data at night because I like the fact that it kills my ringer except for my favorite contacts. Also I really don't need it pulling for email and facebook junk at night, even if it is connected to wifi. That's my lil spurt on smart data.


I tried to clear the google frame work and then check for an update and it didn't work. but Like others have said verizon pushes it out slowly.
 
My hope is that once ICS is installed I will be so satisfied I won't keep coveting the S3 and I'll be satisfied just keeping the Maxx for a while.

Let's put it this way, I'm seriously considering giving up my Nexus for the Razr. There isn't much that would make me consider a Samsung device on Verizon after the luck I've had with 3 of them.
 
I felt the exact same way about Samsung phones that was until I had the S2. That phone was awesome Sprint wasn't but that's beside the point. If the S3 is an improvement over the S2 then it's a tough choice. I briefly had the Nexus and couldn't get reception at my rural home. I think the Razr definitely would be a wise decision over the Nexus

Don't get me wrong, as a device the Nexus is great.:D As a phone, not so much. :( If Samsung could figure out a way to make the phone part of their phones work as well as Motorola they would be great.

Then again, Motorola's main source of business in the mobile world is Verizon so they had better get it right. I'm probably going to wait and see how ICS is on the Razr Maxx and make the switch. Then again, I just may wait it out for the Razr HD.
 
Just got a odd message from Verizon saying i would receive the update within a week and listed the improvements. I'm not the only one according to the Motorola forums. Wasn't like a text message tho if you dismiss it it's gone.

Got it too... didn't get a chance to read it as it popped up on it's own and I had to make a call :(
