**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

Lol this is lame. I haven't gotten anything to my phone. They should totally send it out in the order people bought their phones...I'd be one of the first!

I even fast-booted a clean phone last night, just in case.

Virginia Beach here

I did this on my old Nexus when it was on droid forums and it worked..
Go to manage apps-> go to running (all)-> find google framework one, force stop, clear data,-> go back to check for updates. Some aid after clearing the framework they would restart I didnt have to and I got my update on the third try.. Im going to give this a try on my Maxx see if it works on this device worked wonders on the Nexus. Many reported they got it after just a few trys.

Just a FYI... Motorola typically does SOAK tests before releasing this software. I think that given the scope and magnitude of this release they will be doing a SOAK test for this upgrade. If you received this update you are likely either part of this testing program and probably should not be talking about this update on a public forum where Motorola can see your comments (or you were lucky enough to get the update early).

My guess is that the official release will take place sometime next week after the testers finish putting the release through it's paces. Be patient! We'll get the update soon enough...

Just for fun, I signed up for the feedback network just now. But, when I tried to register my phone, it said my serial number was not in the database. I got the serial number via several methods:

  1. From the VZW store receipt I got when I bought the phone.
  2. From settings->about phone->status->IMEI
  3. Looking on the inside of the SIM/SD card door.
  4. Dialing *#06# (which dropped the last digit)
All were the same number except the last which dropped the last digit. Tried it both ways and neither worked. Now I'm wondering if there's a chance I won't get the update.

I thought the same thing, so I signed up for testing a few weeks ago.

I plead the 5th....

I woke up to the update notification on my Razr Maxx this morning. Frankly I don't see what all the fuss is about it's not THAT different so far from what I can see.

I don't like how the Favorite Contacts widget expands now, it used to open very smoothly. Now the animation is different and it just opens up to a full page.

I rather liked that if you long press on an item in the app drawer you'd get a popup allowing you to uninstall right there. Now you have to drag it to the top of the screen to the "more options" icon to get that. Still better than going into the app manager menu and waiting for items to populate.

What is that?

Members of the feedback network participate in the soak test - They get the new releases a few days before the general release. I've heard conflicting reports if what is going out now is the soak test or the general release. Figured it couldn't hurt.

FYI I never have and never will sign up for a soak test. I'm too chicken to be beta on an OS update.

That being said, I highly doubt they'd soak someone without their permission, so I am 99.999% sure mine is the real rollout.

Yeah, but they don't call it a soak test. You sign up for the Motorola Feedback Network From the page on what this is:

It includes owners interested in participating in a test of approved software as well as other projects gathering feedback on our products and services.

Maybe you signed up for that.

I guess I haven't been clear.

I have not signed up for anything.

Put it like this....there is a soak test for it. I am absolutely sure about that.

if they are doing anything else with folks not in the soak test....i don't really know.

Try playing with the animation settings in the developer settings. See if it helps.

I also believe it's the soak test. I got this email on June 19th. I chose not to receive update since I was on the road and didn't have time to mess with it.

"Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon to participate in an early preview of a new software release, and provide feedback. If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx, please excuse and ignore this email."

I did not get the soak test, I did not get any email from Motorola, I didn't even know how to sign up, nor would I.

I got a notification from Verizon only that they were rolling out the update.

Then I got the update.

I don't think I can be any clearer, that I am not a participant of any soak or early release.

The Razr with ICS is now THE device to have on Verizon. It completely makes the Galaxy Nexus seem like junk and beats Touchwiz on the Galaxy S3 by a great margine. The Lite Blured is fantastic.

Sorry had to say it after all the Razr bashers the last few months ;).
