**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

What is it soak or general release. The reason I won't to know is I'm in a real bad signal area ant I have my phone turned off so that I do not get update till I get in better signal area.Thank's

Just for fun, I signed up for the feedback network just now. But, when I tried to register my phone, it said my serial number was not in the database. I got the serial number via several methods:

  1. From the VZW store receipt I got when I bought the phone.
  2. From settings->about phone->status->IMEI
  3. Looking on the inside of the SIM/SD card door.
  4. Dialing *#06# (which dropped the last digit)
All were the same number except the last which dropped the last digit. Tried it both ways and neither worked. Now I'm wondering if there's a chance I won't get the update.

The same exact thing happened to me.

Did everyone get the ICS email from Motorola? I also received a update status message on my phone refereeing me to Motorola.com/icecreamsandwich. Both messages were basically touts for the new ICS features.

please expand on these comments!!

Webtop on gingerbread gave a full Firefox browser that worked great and you could add many plugins. There was also some popular apps that function very nicely. With the change to ICS all you get now is ICS extended to a larger screen which is no different than having a tablet. Since I already have a tablet it made my lapdocks pointless.

I still don't have the update. Does anyone know how long it takes to roll out to everyone? Glad it's not "if", but "when".

Yeah, they really dorked that up. I wonder if dropping Mozilla was part of the "chroming" of Android.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the update that some are getting a part of the soak test? Then after that has been out for about a week the general public will get ICS?

DROID RAZR and MAXX ICS Soak Test is Live – Droid Life

That now appears to be the case, but it certainly wasn't clear when this rolled out. Adding to the confusion (read: annoyance) was that there were some people here that were not part of the soak test who were getting ics; giving us false hope that that it was a full rollout.

Me too. However I ignored the pop up and just went on to complete the rest of the form and it appeared that it was accepted. Was it registered, I dunno?

It may be that you are registered for the feedback network but you also have to register your phone so they know which one you have. That's my situation. I'm registered with the feedback network but I still need to register my phone.

And like some observant folks noticed in one forum.....alot of ppl that said they got it....all of sudden went missing...lol. Or those that said they got it....didnt post any details through out the day....lol.

I believe some got the update before getting the email or checked for the email from Motorola forums. That also caused some confusion. I know my power was down right when all this happened, down for almost a whole day.

There is definitely a soak test for it.

FWIW, I got ICS this weekend, without being part of the Developer Forum or whatever. It just showed up on my phone.

Not as big a deal as I had thought. Not exactly a life-changing event.
