Very cool! I'll give credit where credit is due.
BTW to add to what someone pointed out already about the price. Not $1000. Starts at $499 per apple.com.
 
Still, for $500 I can get a decent laptop which is a real computer. Heck, my desktop quad-core computer is also only $500 when I brought it a few months ago.

What I want to know...why would I buy this over a netbook? No multitasking? Slower Apple processor than netbooks of comparable and cheaper price (and the Apple processor is a big deal. Switching to intel processors is what saved the Mac line of computers)? What purpose does this thing serve besides being an oversized iPhone that can't make phone calls or take pictures?

Also...software keyboards WILL NEVER replace hardware keyboards for those of us that have grown up and learned to type on a real keyboard. There are a multitude of sensory modalities important to typing that a software keyboards cannot mimic.

Not the game changer everyone was expecting. Microsoft Courier looks pretty cool though :p
 
This should about kill ATT &T' network. Thought it was bogged down before! Get out now while you still can. Add a few hundred thousand more users down loading content and that should freeze the network all together. Dumbest thing I ever heard putting that on AT&T;s network exclusive. Should have a CDMA Verizon verison to split up some traffic. AT&T's rep is so bad think thats a bad move to put it on there as well for that reason. Should not have even talked network. No USB no multi tasking, Iphone OS blahhh should be more Mac OS so it can be used for more than an I touch/phone. Will not take the place of netbooks. Wait for MS version maybe it will fill in the gaps. Oh btw no face forward camera WTF. Think Apple blew it on this. I heard this is being called the Itampon (Ipad) lol Who came up with that name? Sure wasnt a girl. Sounds like a femine product. We get an I douche next?
 
I just think iPad will take over the ebook reader market segment for sure. The publishers will eventually get on board with it whether they like it or not, especially once its been out for a little while and the price discounts come in to play. Who in their right mind would by a ebook reader for $200+ when you can get an iPad... bye kindle, bye nook.

Besides the lame azz 1Ghz cpu the only thing I thought of when I saw this is about 6 different scenarios where I'd drop this damn thing. Does anybody really think they can use this and not drop it one way or the other at some point??? lol

Last but not least god forbid they include a tiny stinkin microsd slot to allow more storage out of it. :mad:
 
Gotta say, this is probably the most useless device I have ever seen. Thousand dollar book reader anybody?
 
No multitasking is really going to kill apple. they sort of screwed themselves with the whole "lets make everything use the same OS and just update 1 piece of software" it worked for a while but now you have all 200,000 apps that can be run on any iphone/itouch/ipad but are not coded to multitask. even if apple wanted to introduce multitasking they couldn't because not every device, like the itouch, can handle multitasking so that meens some apps would only work on some devices and apple will never let this happen. so they are kinda stuck with what they have untill they cut bait and start again.
 
Well it does have it's place.. a casual surfer could use... it's just *NOT* revolutionary, mystical, nor "magical" as Steve Jobs said or all the hype tech blogs have been anticipating over the years.
 
Curious to hear some thoughts from the Android Community on the new IPad... Basically I want to hear everyone rip it to pieces...
 
I just don't understand the memory limitation of 64gb, thats the same as an ipod touch, in a much larger device and why each upgrade of memory is so much more expensive......oh wait yes I do, it's Apple.
 
wayyyy over hyped, as usual for an apple product... Super fast and super cool features on some stuff! But its not life changing, not gonna make me ditch my laptop ... let alone buy one! I'll pass.. It can't even multitask :cool: plus its just an over sized ipod touch.. whats the point? Ill pass... But still cool.. just wayyy over hyped!
 
I am really still researching it, and trying to construct a economical use for it and some of the benefits to it. Yet I think I have come to the conclusion that it is just another piece of technology that was made lol. No seriously I just really don't care about Apple Inc.
 
Many Apple products have been overhyped; In fact, all Apple products are overhyped. This one's different though. The hype has been so huge because in the past, Apple has released products that truly were revolutionary devices.

No multi-tasking? It's supposed to compete with netbooks! You've seriously got to be kidding me. It's depressing that people will be paying 1000 bucks for this thing, if I know Apple.
 
oversized Ipod touch or maybe a colorful Kindle... No SMS app so no texting, has a camera app soposedly but no camera, no flash support, and why so much power without multi tasking and heavy.

There are a few perks to it. The downfalls are the storage capacity, and no multitasking ability. If it had multitasking and some increase in capacity (For the lower price, $500 isn't TERRIBLE) I'd highly consider getting one for my mom. She loves to read, and I've been thinking about getting her an e-reader for months now...but with so many coming out and all the possibilities I keep putting it off. A good e-reader will run you nearly as much as the cheapest iPad. I understand that there are perks to both, but just my thoughts on the subject. I'll stick it out for a real e-reader most likely.
 
I think that the ipad is an amazing piece of technology, but i dont see what the purpose of it is hinestly, and with that said i will be buying one to find out lol, i already have a mac, and my birthday is coming up, and their is nothing i want that i dont have already so ill have my wife get me this unless that new android device with the hd2 specs running on android makes it to sprint by march 2nd.
