Official Metro GSM device/network/Tmobile-ish discussion thread

interesting because teh network on tmo slows to edge normally, and doesnt teh metro terms only say throttled and not to a specific speed?

Metro doesnt say a specific speed but it was 120kbps at first then was bumped up to 170kbps when they started giving the markets 5x5mhz

They throttle 4G and they consider HSPA 4G they throttle anywhere from 90-200kbps from what I've seen

I was of course hoping that "throttled" might mean from FoGee! to HSPA+. I might could live with that and go off of unlimited data.

that was my point is metro never set a certain term for their speeds while tmo did, so chances are when you get throttled it will be to their levels....
 
Since 2011 I have never been throttled, Dont normally run over 3/4GBs a month either but I know for a few months I have gone over significantly. Home internet out, no problem lmao.

I have a question? So as of right now, I have the LG esteem and was thinking of getting a new phone. I currently have the $30 dollar a month 4g promotional plan and was thinking on getting the gs4. Now my question is, if I get the gs4 will I keep my plan? I'm not a heavy internet user so this plan fits me well.

That's not our network so it doesn't really have any affect on it and why would it on BYOD? They had actually complet ed Miami with 4G about a month ago but the official launch was on Wednesday

They cant refarm CDMA if their is still CDMA customers they can only combine the spectrum for the LTE network and if your not hitting those speeds they didnt combine yet so that has nothing to do with our network otherwise those networks are separate you only run on both those networks if you have a metro GSM and BYOD

I agree on the CDMA, but I thought our LTE was being reframed.

According to Metro you have to be on a current rate plan to go to GSM. (Ie; NOT you old, no longer offered plan)

That's what several of us are PO about.

Let them hear about it on their Faceplant page.

I'm visiting from California. I am quite impressed with the speeds here when i do have 4g. Averaging over 14 mbps D/L. Just wanted to share my experience with you.
 
Hey guys got a question for you. As you know San Francisco is one of the cities that is part of the new network, and one that has the S4 available. Does this mean just SF, or does it mean the SF area? For example Im in Napa, Ca. which is about 45 minutes from there. Thanks


Just called a few local Metro's and one of them answered and said they are getting the S4 most likely next week, and Napa and the Bay Area are all under the new network.
