Official MetroPCS BYOD discussion thread

Does anyone with a T-Mobile locked phone have hotspot w/ $60 unlimited plan. CSR is telling me only metroPCS branded phones can get the $60 plan with mobile hotspot, I will have to downgrade to the $40/50 plan (which is not going to happen) to get this feature.

I am Windows Phone user and don't mind paying $5, for the hassle of calling them every time I need to switch to my rooted Android backup in order to use hotstop.

It will get EDGE/HSPA/LTE where available and once its the correct band. The phone has 1900 for EDGE, 1900 for HSPA, 1700 for LTE. Those are the bands that tmobile uses majority of the time at the current moment.

Is there anything specific I need to do to get the Verizon S5 working or do I simply pop in the simcard and call metro?

I assume a Nexus 5 ordered from Google Play in America, will work with MetroPCS. I checked the bands and they seem to be correct. Just want to double check.

One last thing, can I just remove my SIM card from my F6 and pop it into the Nexus? And not have to call Metro or anything?

I tried to look though the forum for answers. Can't find what I'm looking for. Can someone help me out. I really want to get the Sony Z LTE C6616 unlocked. It works off of 1800, 1900, 850, 900 on EDGE, 1700, 1900, 2100, 850, 900 on HSPA+ and band 4 on LTE. I went to two Metro stores and they said it's not a supported device, but B&H photo page said Metro works off of 1700 and 1900 band on HSPA+ and Band 4 on LTE? If that's the case why is this phone not compatible with Metro?

Thank you for your help in advance!

Your reps probably never seen a Sony device before on top of not knowing how bell Canada shares the same bands as att which T-Mobile uses in reframed area...pop in your Sim and pair your iemi give it a try

Yes it pulls it up on B&H page when I type it in. I got to find what the return policy is for B&H. Looking at it the C6616 is everything I want in a phone. The price is really good to. Thought about the Z Ultra. That's just too big!

i have a OnePlus One 64gb phone coming in...i was wondering if anyone else here has used this phone on metro and if it works well...data wise. because i was told by a metro authorized dealer that when u use a non metro phone that u wont get 4g lte speeds and that it would only be around 2g...any truth to this?
I don't have a One Plus, but there is another person here who does have it. However, I can't see that you won't get LTE, if you're in an area that has it. If I remember correctly, it is compatible with T-Mobile/Metro LTE, so you will be able to get LTE. Your phone will just have to be configured correctly; ie make sure you get the Metro LTE APN. That can be found on a sticky on the MetroPCS forum.

OnePlus One user here. Speeds are great. I've had download speeds above 50Mbps and uploads over 25Mbps. The one corporate store I was at did not have the brightest reps. I went to a different corporate store and got it hooked up fine. When I got a second OnePlus One for the wife, I just activated it over the phone with no issues.

what are its bands is it an lte device, (from verizion?)
No, its GSM + Unlockced. I took a look at the LG G3(flagship) and Samsung Galaxy Alpha and was thinking about getting one of those too. Would those be also be compatible? They are all Unlocked and GSM:

LG G3(D855):
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600

LG G3 S Beat(D722):
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
LTE 700 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 / TDD 2300

Samsung Galaxy Alpha(SM-G850F):
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600

They are missing that 1700 in the LTE so they may not work fully just 4g
