While at Boston earlier this week, during my failed attempt to purchase the s4 from incompetent 'reps' i did get to ask her this:

Is there the possibility of you selling me a few sim cards, and then me calling back at a later time providing you with the acct info and phone info(IMEI etc) to finish the activation process?

Answer - No that is not possible we dont just sell the sim cards they must be activated in store, we must complete the setup here to perform a few tests and make sure everything works okay.

So honestly i think youll encounter this same answer yourself, im hoping you're planning to go to a Mom-and-pop stealer in a BYOD market, there i see the possibility of you walking out the store with the sims, and have them expect to receive calls to complete the activation of the previously sold sim cards(to you) remotely, thats all ofcouse ONLY IF you find a 'rep' who wants to make the sale and is willing to work this out with you. Dont try to buy them just to buy them, as they'll be useless if people cant actually call back and have the rep add the IMEI into the system and complete the activation. Basically, tell the rep what youre trying to do, and hope he's willing to work with you/others. At the end of the day the change must be done on that POS computer.

Just a friendly heads up, i appreciate the fact you're tryna help out fellow members, as i had in mind when i inquired about purchasing sims in Boston, but you'd rather be a bit more on the safe side...gas isnt exactly cheap nowadays haha ;)

BYOD is expected to make its way to MANY paces in August, which is only a week later..
 
I have been doing a lot of research on what phones can be used from AT&T to T-Mobile service.

I have a pantech burst.. which i love. it's on att.. i keep hearing about the 1700/2100mhz band is needed for current hspa speeds since i'm sure my area isn't refarmed out yet.

I looked at the popule LG Optimus L9.. and that phone being sold by TMO... doesn't have the 1700/2100MHZ on UMTS either... does have the 2100 though. Just like the pantech burst.

My problem is that I'm finding alot of information stating my burst won't work unless it's been refarmed already. any knowledge of this stuff out there?
 
The burst can work with our LTE but can only get refarmed HSPA but I dont think theres any refarmed area that doesnt have LTE because they started installing the panels around the same time

Will the merger with T-mo use t-mo's hspa+? or will it use 4g? I was planning on getting a google edition HTC One but it doesnt have the AWS band so no 1700mhz spectrum for it, so which spectrum will the merged tmobile and metro use?

The ones they've been using

1700/2100 AWS for LTE & HSPA and 1900 for HSPA in refarmed areas
 
so if i buy a tmobile s4 and put it on metro, since it goes for 400, will it have the same functionality as the metro s4? will it get tmobile lte?
 
the metro one is literally the T-mobile one, so my guess would be yeah if your city has the T-mobile Metro merger coverage
 
Hmmm got some rumours for everybody
More BYOD markets near the end of the month probably after the 26th and spectrum combine very soon. Emailing Legere about some other technical stuff, not likely but will see if I can get any confirmation on that.

Thanks for the update, greatly appreciated. Hopefully that will include Florida. Either way, glad to see new info regarding this.
 
Florida and Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Los Angeles are the 4 biggest markets they haven't gone to yet, I'm hoping we get it down here in Miami finally.
 
So all of my ninjas have confirmed that SIM cards and BYOD services will be available here in Michigan on Friday, but S4s will not be available. Personally, I am done waiting so I am considering buying a T-Mobile S4 from eBay and bringing it in for a SIM CARD. Everyone says they're the same model anyway and a brand new S4 is only $560 tax-free on eBay, cheaper than Metro after taxes and insurance is only $82 for 2 years. My question is, and I know it's been addressed before but I can't find it, will there be any problem with them pairing the S4 to the SIM since the S4 is not in the BYOD compatibility list from Metro's website?
