Official Release Date Rumor Thread

Geez, Today! That sucks. I guess they finally smartened up and have become Verizon Jr.. :)
In the immortal words of Emily Patella ....... "Never Mind!"
Some people think the trial policy changes are because they are getting the iPhone, but I wonder if it is because they got the GS2 and AT&T hasn't yet. I would have done a "trial" run of their GS2 until AT&T came out with theirs. Come the release of the GS2 on AT&T, they might have got quite a few returns all at once ;)

I went with a few other people from work to the Sprint store during lunch. They were just putting out their GS2 when we got there. It is beautiful. I need that phone...... but on AT&T.

So, At&t is turning on LTE this weekend in 5 markets:
http://techcrunch.com/2011/09/15/att-to-officially-light-up-lte-network-this-weekend/

and as some here have already said, it seems there exists an LTE version of the Galaxy S2:
4G LTE Shootout: Droid Bionic, HTC Holiday and Galaxy S2 LTE Version - International Business Times

So that gives potential AT&T users another reason to skip out on this SGS2. Ridiculous.

Now that the smallest texting package on AT&T is a ripoff $20 if you aren't already grandfathered in to a lower one how much do you want to bet that AT&T will be charging an extra fee when LTE phones start rolling out (or shortly thereafter) and Verizon will be right behind them.

I still think that in the US the GS2 (or any top end phone) is absolutely meaningless to all but a small specific group of buyers. The average smartphone buyer off the street who doesn't frequent boards like these has never heard of it and doesn't give a sh1t. The only exception to that is the iPhone.

Costco did not have the Sprint model today.

You guys are still waiting? I, finally, just canceled my AT&T service and switched to Verizon with my new Droid Bionic. LTE = 20mbps, and no more dropped calls. :)

I had an IPhone 3g for 3 years and paid an extra $10-$15/month over that time(instead of the edge data plan). I only had 3g coverage for 50% of my work commute. I've only gotten 3g at my home and another 40% of my commute in the past six months. I have no desire whatsoever to pay for LTE and not be able to consistently use it.

My plan is to get the most advanced phone that isn't LTE. It's not really looking like it will be the GSII although I would like it to be.

^ Sept 18. What is the deal with that date?? Jeez! No wonder there are so many rumors - there's a metric shitton of stuff happening on that date.

So, I guess while I'm waiting I'm going to buy a new TV :)

I had my eyes set on one with Allshare. I found some cheap ones that are DLNA certified, but does not have Allshare on it.. Was wondering if anyone knows the differences and if I will be missing out on anything/making it more difficult if I do not get a TV with Allshare

If possible, please provide an explanation you would expect to hear if you wanted to make an educated decision

If anyone is interested this is the latest rumor on the SGS III

Samsung Galaxy S III
Rounding out the rumor rumble are alleged details on the Galaxy S III. The Samsung rep didn't have a device on-hand, Anonymous says, but he/she did have slides with info. Reportedly set for a debut at MWC 2012 and a worldwide launch in mid-2012, the GSIII is said to feature a 4.65-inch "Super AMOLED III" display with a resolution of 1280x1024 and 352ppi. Other features slated to make it into the Galaxy S III include a 2.0GHz quad-core processor, 32GB storage, 1.5GB RAM, 10-megapixel camera, 1080p video capture at 60fps, 2,250mAh battery, and ICS beneath "TouchWiz 5." This new version of Samsung's skin is supposedly co-developed by Google and is less "intrusive" than previous versions of TouchWiz.

I can't wait til "mid-2012".... I need a new phone in the next 30 days... Sounds like good specs tho.

Asked an AT&T rep how much an exception upgrade is today.... Apparently it is $250 bucks on top of the 2 year contract. So to hell with the GSII. I'm gonna wait for my upgrade in November of 2012 and get an LTE smartphone with probably 3 times the specs the GSII has.

$250 doesn't seem bad an in-contract early upgrade. I wonder how they quoted you that because one of my lines is in contract for another 5 months and they said you cannot upgrade early unless you want to pay FULL price on the phone.

So this is what the release has come to eh?

Us getting so bored and tired of waiting that we spend most of one page in this forum discussing a different phone.

lol yes sadly its come to that, a bunch of ppl sitting in a forum discussing SOME OTHER PHONE... guess that what happens when a company will remain so tight lipped they make Russian Spies look like "blabbermouths"...lol

I'm no marketing genius but how is this not just "bad business"?

its also come to ppl just getting so frustrated they are about to giveup, OR if they do "hang in there", it will be so anti-climactic" becuz they had to sit around a MONTH or more having the anticipation build.

Its so sad they cant keep the public more informed, they set themselves up to fail in a way, cuz if we KNEW when it would be here, we'd plan accordingly, and not allow ourselves to build up an anticipation that ALMOST no device could match... Them doing it this way ALMOST insures when the &^%$#@! finally gets here, ppl will almost certainly focus on every little disappointment on the phone, becuz the buildup was so HUGE...

tsk tsk AT&T

I fully expect it. Sprint charges $10 more for 4G devices, even though nobody can actually use their 4G...and their 4G is barely faster than everyone else's 3G....

Just get the unlimited texting plan and take advantage of the free mobile to any mobile.

A friend of mine just posted on my wall on facebook about getting the Epic Touch. He came from Evo. He's in LOVE with the phone. He also said he gets much better reception with it than he did with his Evo.

This makes me excited about GS2 again. :)

I'm also going to be trading in my Beloved EVO 4G for this. The EVO 4G was an amazing gamechanger, for sure, and while i am sure your friend is head over heels in love with SGSII Sprints version, i just can't get over this video, till i see them both side by side i can't commit : )

Not sure why, this video isn't even HD quality, but it just looks sooo much crisper than all the up close & personal videos i've seen of the Sprint version

This phone does not currently exist by the way...but I think it is in the plans

all this talk of the evo :( I really miss my Evo...but don't miss Sprint at all lol.

BTC, I think it's just a matter of network vs network and 4.3" vs 4.5"..both phones I am sure will be/are amazing!

Well, i'm not so sure : (

I JUST got back from Sprint store and played with the ET and i gotta tell ya. That screen is JUST too dang big, just like my Infuse was. I am now TOTALLY BANKING on the At&t's version being jussssst right (feelin' a lil like Goldilocks & The Three Cell Phones right about now... (Infuse too big, LG Thrill too small...lol)

Fingers crossed At&t's version is going to hit all the right marks... (plus that NFC chip has me drooling), i don't care if the technoloogy isn't quite here yet, when it gets here me and my AT&T SGS II will be ready! lol

uh... the screens are the same size. it might even be .02" (big whoop) bigger. why wouldn't you expect it to be as big as the infuse?

So many small internet sites still reporting tomorrow as the AT&T launch day....for instance:

Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date: Available to Sprint and AT&T Users This Weekend, Christian News

Makes me wonder how this date ever got picked up in the first place. I think it originated from the "big event" (ha whatever) a few weeks ago. But I remember seeing a samsung rep state Monday Sept 19th....NOT the 18th.

I guess if this sunday and monday go by, the next rumored date is Oct 2nd, which Mr. Ed's inside man claims it is.

Is there some kind of direct contact address or forum where we can express our opinions to AT&T, b/c they need to hear it on this one.
