Official Remove The Verizon Branding Thread

No. I (and anyone else) would have to pay full price to keep yourself from signing a new contract.

But if you have to pay full price, couldn't you just get an unlocked version without the Verizon logo if you want to? Or does it not work with Verizon because it is CDMA? I know you could use the unlocked version with AT&T and Tmobile.

Were you able to get discount on the Note II AND kept the unlimited data plan? My coworker wanted to upgrade his Droid Bionic but was told by Verizon that he could either get discounted new phone or keep the unlimited data, but not both.

Nope, didn't get a discount. Had to pay full freight if I wanted to keep my unlimited data. I'd only be able to get a break on price if I signed a new contract which I wasn't about to do - and this was through VZW corporate.

For me, T-Mo and AT&T are awful where I am - Verizon is king reliability wise, so that's why I bought it at full price.

Well hopefully someone who doesn't want it can report back on how easy it is to remove lol.
This works :D

Great phone but all of the carriers suck and as to the VZ Logo on the button that is the very least of Verizon's B.S.

All that said unfortunately Verizon is overall probably the best of the bunch from my experiences with 3 of them.

I would love to know if its able to be scratched off.

Why not just get the button cover? It makes my head hurt to think people are willing to attack that button like it's a scratch off ticket. $300 or 700.... ain't no way I'd do that..... but that's me.

I was very upset when I saw the pictures of the logo before the phone was released. Now that I have the phone, it doesn't bother me. It is fairly small and looks ok....

The only time I even notice it is when I read this thread to remind me it's there. :D

@ Harplayr..... I feel you. It's such a non factor you don't see it any more.

I guess I'm just surprised by the deal breaker responses. Just about everything we own has a label or branding of some sort. I couldn't see someone hacking the heck out of their $2000. TV because it said Samsung/LG/Toshiba on the front.

If anyone should be upset it should be AT&T customers- they got the orange box. :p

You're missing the point. If your Samsung $2,000 TV said comcast cable company, direct TV, or Time Warner Cable across it. The issue is not the manufacutre putting a lable on it, it's the service provider putting their lable on it.

It would be like your nice new Ford Truck having a Smith Car Dealership bumper sticker across the hood.

My laptop has Dell on the bottom of the screen, and intel core 2 Duo and Windows Vista on the keyboard. That didn't keep me from buying it, nor do I recoil in horror everytime I approach it.

Now the slow performance and need to reboot a couple of times a day does make me want to take a sledge hammer to it :D

If all carriers had the logo button, few people would have complained. Before the GN2 I don't think I had seen any threads of complaint about carrier branding on smartphones. Verizon doing something others chose not to do set off a nerve in a lot of people. The button hardly bothers me as the Droid Bionic I previously had displayed the verizon logo on the front. Nobody seems to be complaining about the Samsung logo at the top though.

seriously i bought the decorating buttons (black, silver and pink) from Spiegen, i put the silver one one but after one day, I HATED IT WORSE than the Verizon logo, so i took it off....i dont mind the logo now.....
