Root [Official Root Guide] Kyocera Hydro Vibe

SuperSU fails everytime to install. Still seems rooted though. However I can't do anything with root permissions... no tether, no cpu control...

Definitely still have superuser running the show, so you are only 1/2 rooted, . Try going through the steps again and se if that helps. You won't be able to overclock this phone, need a custom kernel for that, haven't tried Tether yet. Basically rooting allows you to get rid of bloat, much beyond that not much you can do. There is no recovery so careful what you get rid of or you could end up with a brick.

As Lpen21 says without the superuser (or app like SuperSU to update the super user Binaries) its only a half root. You'll have limited root abilities, pretty much limited to what the Kinguser app lets you that the root adds.

Certain apps like the app checker in my photo without SuperSU cant get a prompt to get permission to check. So without it its a half Root. If you have Kinguser on your phone after part of this root, and SuperSU wont install. Might try again to install SuperSU. Make sure its SuperSU and not Superuser.

What do I do if it says my phone's hard to crack? Do I keep retrying?

I don't know. never heard it being hard. would try again from the top, and when you run root Genius, make sure your running it as a administrator. Most people that tried this got it to work smoothly and was effortless.

Good luck.

My phone went into a boot loop. I was putting things into build.prop file to make the phone perform better, and I must have put something in there that shouldn't have been, because when I restarted the phone, it went into a boot loop. I opened the recovery mode and tried wiping all user data/factory reset, and wiping the cache partition, but neither of those things worked. I thought I could connect my phone to the computer and edit the build.prop file on that, but the computer didn't seem to detect my phone. It started to at first, but then it stopped, and now it won't detect it at all. Do you know of any way I can fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Without a back up you maybe screwed. there still very little we can do to this phone. you able to mount the system and add files to the phone? if so i added my build.prop to see if you can replace it with a unchanged one.

factory reset only formats the cache, and user data. The build.prop is located in the system. which would be bad if that was formatted. If the build.prop is the issue. you need a way to mount the internal storage. Then navigate to /system/ and back up the build.prop there just in case. and replace the one on the phone with the one i attached. safety unmount it. and reboot the phone.

Let me know how it goes if you can.

As it turns out, I didn't have to replace the 'build.prop' file after all. I went to Wal-Mart, and they replaced the phone for me and gave me another Kyocera Hydro Vibe for free. Thanks for your help anyway. I appreciate it. If I ever edit the 'build.prop' file again, I'll be more careful.

Hello everyone! As of yesterday ive had my Hydro Vibe rooted and i was doing some pretty sick things with it. And lets just say i got power crazed and wanted the kitkat dialer so i deleted a lot of vital .APKs such as phone.apk, dialer.apk, messaging.apk, and telephoneyprovider.apk.......i really screwed up and now i dont have any messaging or calling function. I backed up all those apps before I uninstalled them but i cannot install them to /system/app/ even with the permissions changed and ive tried everything! Can someone please help!!! Or upload those 4 .APKs for me???? maybe mine are bad idk. I JUST WANT MY PHONE TO WORK

also is there anyway someone could just completely take the stock rom and back it up and then upload the rom to mediafire or something so then i can have a fresh new clean ROM???? Thanks in advanced!

Hey thanks for the quick response! Sadly it did not work. If I cannot get this to work j will probably just tell virgin I have a charging problem and then get a new phone for free since they have a 1 year warranty. Hopefully I can fix it though

No recovery or Rom for this phone unfortunately. Maybe try resetting permissions the reeboot

Maybe re manually adding them from another phone and doing a reset via the backup & reset menu in settings. maybe that can help. but i dont know.

OK I'm having issues with this. I just got this on sale at target about 3 weeks ago. As cheap phones go, its a really good phone. Anyways, I've tried the above method multiple times and after rebooting the third time, it always fails to root. I put SuperSU on it anyways with no luck. It never installs kinguser. I'm very experienced at rooting android phones but this one refuses anything I throw at it. Its running Android 4.3. Any ideas?

got 4.3 on mine as well. Did it say on the computer it did root?

really its hard to say. failures on this have been pretty low. about zero.
Make sure all the proper debugs are in place as per the steps. i know you said you tried more than once. just covering bases, make sure in device manager that the driver is properly installed and not showing it as a unknown device or says there a problem, then run Root Genius as administrator, and give it another go. if still nothing. MIght back up the phone, factory reset it. and try once more.

if no luck it leaves me puzzled, for just about everyone thats used this method have had no major issues.

Good luck.

Basically it says "install complete" and reboots at about 77%. After the phone reboots it says unsuccessful and that my phone is tough lol. So, I mean, its talking to the phone OK and I did try with admin rights. I'll try maybe screwing with the drivers. I dont care to factory reset but I will if you think that will help.

I dun know if it will or not. i haven't heard of it really being unsuccessful. any issues i ever been asked have been around step you install SuperSU. they would see successful and think there done. then have to tell them to re read the steps. but not happening in this case.

One other thing i may say to try is a different computer. See what might happen from another system if you can.
