WOW your right.....In this corner, Fascinate. In the other corner, X.
It's a race. Will Fascinate get OTA Froyo before X gets OTA Gingerbread? I'm taking Fascinate comes first. Whose with me?
P.S. I never win anything.

Yea but my BIG complaint is that I am stuck in a 2 year contract. I had a $100 credit waiting since 2006 and I used it to get stuck with this unsupported phone. Mine is rooted and I have had a TON of roms on it but that is beside the point. I would like to have the original like I was promised.Fact of the matter is, eventually all of us will move on to other devices and the complaints will go away...
well....I have 18 months left on my contract. Next time - i'll buy my own phone from outside sources, screw them and their insurance and warrenty. I'll go month to month IF i stay with them that is.

At this point...that is sadly in jeopordy. I have been a long time (15 plus years back when it was Bell Atlantic cellular) customer and its a shame how bad customer service has become such a back seat issue for them.
My bet's on the DX. Samsung forgot about us somewhere along the line![]()
So I have check the update service on my phone today multiple times. It has been saying "service not available" does that mean they are updating the service with an OS update for my phone?

Sorry, turns out that my phone decided to stop communicate with the cell network. I shut it down and restarted it and then i got a flood of text messages and missed calls. That is pretty poor that my cell lost it's connection to the cell network with no clear warning what had happened. What if a family member had problems and they couldn't get me. Strike 2 (strike 1 being the slow update to Froyo or Gingerbread). Just for the record I switched to Verizon in December because of this phone. 11 years with Sprint before with issues but quickly resolved by Sprint customer service. If history repeats, I'd say no![]()
Maybe if someone who has a strong and crafty command of the English language were to draft a strongly worded form letter to Verizon and we were ALL to send this same letter they would see that we all stand united in the same dark corner. Power in numbers.

Verizon Wireless:
The Samsung Fascinate was released in September 2010. Many customers bought the device by either extending their contracts another two years or by buying it outright for nearly $600. As with any new device, bugs were present. Bugs such as the car dock/desktop cradle sold by Verizon not being functional, GPS issues, call quality and reception issues, etc. Many of our fears were assuaged by Verizon floor reps and technical support personnel who stated several times that the update to 2.2 will fix many of the bugs and bring added functionality. They also said with confidence that the update is “just a few weeks away.” The phone was even advertised by Verizon, on and off a few times, to have 2.2. If one were to make a trip to a Target store today, The Samsung Fascinate is advertised as having Android 2.2.
October passes, then Verizon personnel say the update/bug fixes will be ready by Thanksgiving, then the end of the year. It is now April and yet, Verizon maintains that the update/bug fixes are a few weeks away.
Delays are sometimes unavoidable as many Android users work with software as evidenced from the web forums. Even the people that do not work with software can appreciate the immense task of producing and implementing a major software update. However, the manner in which Verizon has handled the Fascinate since its launch has seriously jeopardized its credibility in the eyes of its users. Here is a short list of items which are of particular interest:
- The lack of information regarding the update. It would be difficult to be more non-committal and vague when “soon” is the only information given.
- Blaming Samsung for the delay. Samsung may have been responsible for the initial delay but since the Fascinate is the only Galaxy S device without 2.2, this is obviously not true. Some Galaxy S variants are on the eve of Android 2.3 in the next couple of weeks as announced by Samsung and the respective carriers. The Galaxy S is after all Samsung's flagship device with over 10 million sold.
- Many users call for information about update/bug fix availability. Verizon always ardently refuses to claim any responsibility. Many have been told several times that Verizon does not have anything to do with the software. Again, this is blatantly not true. Verizon is the obvious final authority for what the finalized update will look like. It is also inconceivable to think that Samsung is responsible for creating all of the Verizon applications that are so prevalent on all Verizon devices.
- The Motorola Droid X, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC Thunderbolt, Motorola Droid 2, Motorola Droid (original), LG Ally, Motorola Droid Pro, and Samsung Continuum all have 2.2. The Fascinate is absent from the list.
In my experience, when this information is presented to a representative of Verizon, some will concede that the issue lay with Verizon but most vehemently deny any responsibility for any issues that we Fascinate users are experiencing. Most continue to blame Samsung. The only solution recommended is to upgrade to a new device. Its an insult to our intelligence for Verizon to think that we ought to lock ourselves into another two year contract and spend another couple hundred dollars with Verizon is a valid solution.
To continue to withhold this software update and any information regarding it for whatever reason when it is highly probable that Samsung has already delivered its share serves only to continue to corrode Verizon's faltering credibility and desirability. As contracts expire, many users (who can corroborate this experience many times over) expressed their intent to leave for a different carrier, myself included.
I don't know if this is what you were looking for but... I typed this up and sent it off:
Remember, it's "Berizon" now or "Birizon" if you prefer. You can't forget their marriage with Bing. That's likely what the holdup is now. Samsung has been sending VZ test builds for quite some time now. I was personally holding out for the LG Revolution, and was willing to overlook it's bulkiness AND its lack of a dual core processor AND it's inclusion of an LTE radio I won't be able to use in the phone's lifespan ... but now the Revolution has been confirmed to receive BING.
Something I have noticed is that any phone with the "Droid" branding does not receive Bing, as well any device from Motorola or HTC as of yet. I have a feeling that Samsung may of been forced to put Bing on the Fascinate to bring it to Verizon. Samsung and LG both have come to the Android game later than Motorola or HTC (when it comes to Verizon anyways).
*Edit* I spoke too soon without doing full research the Motorola Citrus includes Bing but with that said the Citrus was a year newer and had worse specs than the HTC Droid Eris.
I borrowed your letter and sent a copy to everyone listed under Executive Leadership and Region Presidents.

I'll be curious if I get a response from anyone.
Looks like you non root people got your wish. Looks like a real Froyo release today.
