[OFFICIAL SOLUTION FAQ] Having trouble with your EVO 3D? Click here!

Now the green guys are showing up when I insert the smileys but no explanation why they weren't before. Seems like i have to constantly tweak my HTC 3D or reload it because the apps rarely work right... Might have had something to do with It. Still i wonder If anyone else that cares Is having this problem? Also has anyone ever actualy been able to use 4G on htc EVO?

Did you install any emoticon packs?
I've never had this issue and my 4g works flawlessly

Did this issue start after you installed any new apps?

I havent installed any emoticon or sms apps. Now my EVO will only show green Droid smileys when I receive a text from someone. The only green smiley i can get to show when i send a text is the teardrop smiley. Not the mist important function on the phone but still annoying that some smiles suddenly don't register.

Uh...why? Why us the phone inconsistent with showing the green guys? Now it only works from insert smiley but not the preset keypad text. Why? I just want to understand. Also why can't I go online during a phone call? My 3g icon disappears from the status bar and I'm told I have no connection whenever I try on speakerphone. Thanks in advance.

The smilies should work but are dependent upon being typed how the phone's programming would recognize them. IIRC, :-) should produce one... :-( another. If they don't have the dash, they don't show up (and even then, some of them are just plain odd).

In regards to internet during call, that's the limitations of the CDMA network that Sprint uses. If you were in a 4G area or had your wifi on and connected you'll find that they will stay connected during a call. 3G uses the same connection that a phone call does, from my understanding. GSM networks (such as ATT or TMob) don't have this issue.

Oh wow, I forgot this thread even existed :p

Thank-you. Most helpful.

Glad Kelmar could help. But something I've noticed is with the default HTC keyboard, it can be frustrating to do the emoticons. Actually, I find most of the stock HTC keyboard frustrating. Other keyboards, like SwiftKey X, Swipe (I think), and the one I use (Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard) usually have much easier ways of inputting emoticons. Usually holding enter or shift will give you a key of all available emoticons. Showing what they look like and/or how to type them.

I was deleting my cache files in clockwork mod recovery and it seems in my tinkering I deleted the system cache folder located in the advanced section. Now when I try to boot the phone it stays on the white HTC screen and will not do anything.

System Restore does not work, reflashing the rom does not work, I need the files for the system folder located on the SD card.

It's a Evo 3D that has been rooted and flashed with Android Revolution HD rom. I can still access the Fastboot, Recovery, and ClockworkMod.

What do I do now?

You deleted your /system folder, which houses your ROM. Reflash your ROM and you should be OK. Remember to use fastboot to flash your kernel if you're on HBOOT 1.5.

This might have been covered before but does anyone use FM Radio app or widget? Mine force closes EVERY time I plug in my speakers. Boo.

Got my FM radio widget to work but it only works right after I power up my phone. And only once. After that if I plug my headphones back in it always force closes until I power off and on again. The only thing I can think of is for some reason I get into the habbit of clearing out a lot of data on Apps (some of which I have no idea what they do) (rosie utility???) under 'manage applications' and it seems to keep my phone constantly re-updating Apps and starting from square one everyday.

Anyways, I'm just wondering if there's something I can do or stop doing to make the radio app work every time instead of only once immediately after a power off. It's just annoying is all...

Rosie utility is a part of your Sense framework. What that means is that you're clearing data on the foundation of your operating system. I would really recommend that you don't clear out the data/cache on Rosie Utility unless you think something is wrong with the way Sense is running.

As for the radio widget, I don't run Sense launcher anymore, so I can't verify. Try clearing it's cache and data in Manage Applications.

No luck with that. No matter what I do it just force closes unless I power off and on. Maybe when I get rooted and go with a non sense based ROM that'll work. Hopefully. Thankyou for the rosie info.

Will do. Here's a dumb little question...When I go to change vocoder settings under ##data# what's the option to check USB charging about other than the obvious? Is that just another way to set the default to charge only when you go to connect to pc under settings? Or is it used for performing a different function?

As far as anyone can tell, that USB option does nothing. You can check it or uncheck it, nothing appears to change.

I just want it to be known that as of today - I have no thinking of upgrading to another device at this time. Tried them all on Sprint.. and I'm back to my same phone. (Htc Evo 3d.) I just love this bad beast of a phone. :)

It's to allow app developers to change what the phone thinks is it's actual location, so to test location specific apps. Like lets say I was developing a weather app and I want to make sure it pulls the right data for other cities, like San Diego, Seattle, or Oklahoma City. Using that feature, you can trick the phone into thinking it is in those cities.

Interesting.

So here's my latest doosey...I can't call Sprint customer service from my EVO. Not by dialing *2 or the 888-211-4727 number.

I remember reading somewhere on here about this but I can't find it. So I apologize in advance if this has been covered. I changed the vocoder and proxy settings via ##DATA# as per forum advice but I'm convinced this is why I can't call Sprint.

Either way, customer service says the only way to fix this is by doing a factory reset. I like having better voice quality, streaming quality AND being able to call customer service from my phone. Is there another way to fix this? If I do a factory reset, im gonna want to change those settings again and if l can't call Sprint as a result, I'm not sure what to do. I don't have a landline. Anyone?
