i hope i get this phone in may. I cant handle my crap battery life anymore. My EVO simply can't last past 8 hours even with minimal usage.

i Don't think anyone who plans to pick it up day one has to worry, our phones are likely already made

I am also starting to think this will get released next month.
Sprint releases LTEvo middle of May.
Samsung has the Unavailing of the S3 May 3rd but probably wont be launched overseas until end of May. Now rumor has it this time around Samsung is releasing the S3 worldwide same time.
So makes sense Sprint will release the LTEvo in May and the S3 sometime by end of June.

The transcript of the conversation tells a far less extremist story -
QUALCOMM Incorporated's CEO Discusses Q2 2012 Results - Earnings Call Transcript - Seeking Alpha
So: supply is within the projected demand from when Qualcomm placed their orders. Looking through September, it's at the low end of the demand projections but within bounds.
The supplier, TSMC, didn't fall short due to their inadequacies, the demand increased beyond expectations. The impact is across a range of 28 nm products, not simply the S4.
How is the S4 supply limited?
According to Qualcomm, the June quarter revenues will be very much in line with expectations.
My personal thoughts - could we be affected? Maybe. The supply shortfall will hit a lot of Qualcomm products distributed over hundreds of devices. If I were Nokia, I would be very worried. TSMC is physically close to HTC to say the least. The Taiwanese refer to their land as "The Island" - if you talk to people in the industry there about supply and demand, they talk about themselves and the world and then they talk about The Island.
I could be wrong, I often am, but I am not terribly worried about Qualcomm.
I am more worried about who didn't provide them with reasonable order expectations in the first place. Remember the Evo shortage? That was Sprint's fault, not the suppliers.
If Sprint screwed up again, I promise that they and the blogosphere will chalk it up to the sensational versions of this story.

Personally, I wouldn't go betting real money on that.
And in this case, the popular version of this story is going to drive preorders up.
If there wasn't going to be a run on the LTEvo before, there may be now.

can anyone shed light on if there's a reason phones like the OG and 3vo for example have the black border on the left and right sides of the screen? why not go all the way to the edge and gain the extra room, or at least it would so appear...would it throw off the aspect ratio or something similar? some of the gs3 rumors speak of the phone screen going edge to edge from left to right so I was curious why this isn't pretty standard already...
...yet they kept with capacitive buttons...
speaking of that...know of any alternatives to using the long press search button for voice commands??? since if I'm correct the search button will be gone, is there another way to simulate that process??? I use that a ton and am gonna miss that. I'm hoping there's another way without having to place an icon somewhere on my home screen
I guess Pocketnow is reporting possible launch May, 18th. I don't see this making any sense. Most of our contracts are not up until June?
Anyway, here is the link to the article for some reading material.
Could Sprint Get HTC's EVO 4G LTE As Soon As Next Month?
EarlyMon will we be able to root the LTEvo the same way as the One X?
I preordered the OG EVO as soon as I could (which happened to also be when my contract was up. Now, two years later, my contract was in April 1st. Why is my contract up before everyone else's is in June? Am I missing something? lol
That's what I figured. I hope Sprint releases the EVO LTE before June. I think June is way too far away since pre-ordering is May 7th. But who knows. The 2 year contract term is actually 22 months, though everyone usually just says "two years" for convenience. People saying there's is up in June probably generalizes it and actually means April, or they picked up the phone later than launch day.

Ahh, I forgot about that. :turtle:Original EVO pre-order was 1 month apart from release.
