[Official] Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE Pre-release thread - Sprint official launch is Saturday, June 2

There are a ton of folk who jumped from iPhone to One X, for the first couple of days after the release of the International version, there were a load of iPhone -> Android threads.

Incidentally, the same question was asked there too: http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x/547334-why-so-many-ex-iphone-users.html
Could you IMAGINE how many converts there would be if google ran a promotion to allow iphone converts to get 50% off all comparable replacement apps that the customer had purchased on itunes? It would be terribly complicated to accomplish without forcing people to turn over their iTunes accounts... but if they could... :)

:) I just got off the phone with Account Services. Once you placed the pre-order you were given a pre-order number. When the order then went to the warehouse a new order number was generated for an HTC X325C Bar Phone - which is the EVO 4G LTE. I was given my true order number and told that I would receive it tomorrow. We shall see!

Before posting this I called back and confirmed the above information and the new Order number I was given - all verified. Again, we shall see tomorrow!!

Were you able to get a tracking number to go along with that order number?

So you were given a new order #? That's strange why wouldn't they give everyone the new order # if that were the case because I still have the original order # and it keeps switching the status like everyone else and still no shipping email or tracking # has came through yet!?

Because this may happen to you below....

I was told the order number would be generated at midnight and emailed to me at the same time.

And my old order number still says the same thing as everyone else's says. I am not sure why except I was told on pre-orders, once it is received by the warehouse, the order number is changed - I can only repeat what I was told. And, as I stated earlier, we shall see if I was told the truth or strung out.

Relax...it'll be ok!
Do what I'm doing...go play Diablo 3 for a while and forget about the frustration/anticipation for the new Evo for a bit.

:thumbup: Exactly what I am going to do except the Diablo 3 - relax, have an adult beverage of some kind and go forward. Backup plan, I have an appointment at 8:00 a.m. at my local Sprint store in Arlington.

Just checked my pre-order status...this better not be true...

Here is the response I received via email today in response to my inquiry about that message.

I have fully reviewed your order, and it has been booked for shipment.
No tracking information is available, but at this point we do expect
your order to be delivered on or before 5/18/2012.

And my status has now been changed back to:
Status: Thanks for pre-ordering. You are one step closer to getting your phone. Keep an eye out for a shipping email with your tracking information. We will do our best to get it to you before others get a glimpse on Friday, May 18. For questions, visit sprint.com/preorder.

Hurry up and wait!!

This is exactly what happened with the 3D launch last year with temporary numbers and new numbers. It all came out fine and phones arrived the day before launch day.

I have to wait until launch day this year since my upgrade day is June 1st and they will only move it up 2 weeks which happens to be May 18th.

It would be terribly complicated to accomplish without forcing people to turn over their iTunes accounts... but if they could... :)

Imagine the number of converts there would be if they found out that many of the apps they pay for are either built in to Android or Sense or come for free from Google or are available as freemiums?

Imagine being able to run a full browser and not pay for a site app when there's Flash content?

~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway - I think that anyone who gets their phone on or before the 18th will have had their expectations met.
And I doubt that calling Sprint because your order status did or didn't change due to an automated system running a program set in place days ago is going to change anything except stomach acid levels. ;) :)
That is just what I was told and she said it shows up on my account as a promotion just like some people's accounts for promotions showed up as buy up for 115 which is what my friend did to get his.
I find it really odd that this promotion requires you to call Sprint to get the fee waived once it hits your bill. I would think that the logical course of action would be for them to prevent the charge from ever hitting your bill. It also seems like they are not actually publicizing this promotion either.
If this is in fact the case, it would seem like Sprint is trying to take advantage of the people who haven't heard of this promotion and are ok with paying the $36 fee.
This doesn't make much sense to me but I've heard stranger things so this may very well be the case.
The sky is not falling(I just checked) even if the date is pushed back I'm sure it is for good reason. I personally would be more upset if I received a phone tommorow with a major bug and had to wait a week for a fix over receiving a functional device next week.
And it is all still just rumors no official press release stating this s4gru has been wrong before even with a inside sprint source it doesn't mean much. Have you people never delta with Sprint? One department will tell you one thing with another stating the complete opposite. So let's take a breath step away from the keyboard enjoy the beautiful weather(well here in Columbus anyway) and wait for an official statement.
I did read the responses prior to mine after I had posted mine then those showed up :( sorry I originally didn't see there replies :( lol
Hey anything is possible but according to that article I could see one thing being extremely plausible and I mentioned it above. There could have been an issue with how many phones Sprint received from HTC, they put the correct number in inventory and quickly realized they oversold. Thus they would send out a blanket message again "just in case". I'll bet that's what it is. Hopefully if so my local RS will have phones in.
