I will be all over this phone!

NICE!! It looks like the new EVO's "HD Voice" feature is pretty effective!

(scroll to the second video down)

Here's the fine print on HD Voice.

HD Voice requires a call between two HD Voice capable handsets on an HD Voice capable Sprint network. Sprint expects to deploy HD Voice capable networks in the future as part of its Network Vision upgrades.

So, word on XDA is that you can drop a 64 GB card into the 3vo and it just works.

Any takers that the same will be true of El TEvo?

El TEvo, hah. That's the best nickname for the phone that I've yet seen. Still not as good as MoPho, though. :D

Man, you people move fast, I need to pay more attention to this thread! I have to say I'm very impressed by this phone so far. Still not a fan of the weird two-tone, but it's not as bad as the early pics suggested, and in exchange for getting brushed by the ugly stick we get a slew of awesome bonus features. I'll take that exchange.

Anyone else struck by the "pin drop" imagery of the commercial drexappeal linked? Fun to see Sprint return to their roots. Now all they need is Candice Bergen as spokeswoman. :)

Buy an Evo, 'cuz Murphy Brown said so! :p

Going back to the pin drop is a nice move on their part. The spot they created had a really good audio score. Someone did a great job with the thing overall. Clean, Simple and elegant. Not too in your face or obnoxious like a variety of other phones and companies.

Was just skimming the comments on the Verge post about the El TEvo, and someone brought up an interesting question: does Sprint LTE require a SIM card, like Verizon's? I've looked at the few pictures of the upper guts of the phone available, and I don't see a SIM slot. It looks like they converted the One X SIM slot to the MicroSD slot.

I really like the look of pure ICS and not Sense. Is there any theme you think I can get that will look more like that? I am talking pre root.

So sick of the HTC alarm clock looking home screen.

This may have been answered already!? I look but didn't see it? Now that the E4GLTE (<==To long..Evo One) has a mirco sd slot, will this phone come with dropbox!?

so.. HD Voice is useless in the situation where:
are not talking to another HD voice device
and not in a good data speed area.

well I hope the daul microphone will help in all other situations..
but what if you want the other party to hear what is in the background???

From what I've gathered the SIM card is either embedded (not user accessable) or they may not be using one at all, and using a MAC address.

The copper fingers sticking out on the left and again on the right connect to antennas afixed to the inside of the upper cover (and why that cover is plastic).

Do you mean the structure to the left of the label?

it's hard to tell from the few pictures provided of the internal.... but from this image there is SOMETHING that sticks out, look towards the left edge of the uncovered plastic... you see a silver strip that COULD be a slot for SIM card, but honestly it could be anything.

Oh yeah, I see that now. That could be it, but it's impossible to tell due to the short depth of field of that image. I haven't been able to find out if Sprint will use SIM cards, though. No one seems to know for sure, but they assume so based on Verizon. If Sprint LTE does require one, it makes you wonder why HTC did not include a MicroSD card slot in the One X. Obviously there's room for it.

Edit: Yes, we're referring to the silver thing next to the label. :)

Wouldn't an embedded SIM card defeat the purpose? :) A MAC address could be possible, but I'm honestly not tech savvy enough to say one way or another.

Believe that's the charging port.

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Skid.
Been with Sprint since 2003. I haven't had an issue with them, they are reasonably priced and their customer service is above average in my experience.

I have been reading everything I can get my eyes on about the One X. Researching the Sprint variant lead me here. This forum, unlike others seems to be laid back and pretty calm, which I like. Kudos to the members!

The design doesn't keep true to the AT&T/International X, especially with that back. The trade-offs are worth it though IMO. Frankly, I've never stood/sat and stared at the back of my phone. Doesn't matter to me. I've never been a fan of Samsung hardware, so this will be my upgrade from the OG Evo.

A couple of questions if you don't mind.

Advantages and disadvantages of pre-ordering and purchasing through Sprint or their website and Best Buy?

Do you expect that the LTEvo will come loaded with Swype?

Thanks, I appreciate the vibe and feel of this forum.
