Does anyone know how the screen will compare to my MoPho? I love how easy it is to see and read the screen, as well as look at pictures in sunlight on my MoPho.

Thanks

The MoPho has, I believe, the same display as the One S which is qHD with super AMOLED and is 4.3'. The new Evo will have the same screen as the One X. The screen on the One X easily beats the One S. Due to the higher resolution the One X does not have a "grainy" look. As to being able to view outside, I can only give you what reviewers have said and they thought the One X have one of the best if not the best outside viewing they have seen (not to mention the best screen they've ever seen). If you have an AT&T and a T-mobile store near you like I do, go and check them out.

Since my upgrade is not due for a while, I am considering waiting to get the new LTEVO in October, November, or December.

So question....

What do you think Sprint stores will have a large stock of LTEVOs by October....after the dye down of the frenzy ?

The Photon isn't Amoled.

Yes! I think that will be plenty of time! This time around Sprint will be ready!

All going to be getting our new LTEVO's soon. The very least around the 18th. :) Probably going to try out Google wallet. I can't wait to pay for McD's with a swipe of my LTEVO :p GW might not be silky smooth as we expect/hoped. (w/LTEVO it could be) I read through the Sprint GNex thread. The Sprint GNex thread had some helpful insights when it comes to purchasing your BigMac with a swipe of your new LTEVO :D

Just opened the Best Buy ad from today's paper, shows the ELTevo as being available on Friday the 18th. Free $50.00 gift card with purchase and 2 year activation. I hope that's true.
Also.... the Otter Box Defender series will also be available on the 18th. :-)

The day before (hopefully) we start receiving the emails about our new phones shipping and in the hopes we so not miss the delivery. :D

Ok, I stand corrected. The MoPho have LCD, but it is pentile. Still pretty much the same as the One S. You will still see the "graininess" though so the observation between the MoPho and the One X will still stand.

No, the MoPho is TFT LCD, as the One S is SAMOLED Pentile!;)

You sure about that? I recall it being pentile.

FYI, Pentile and AMOLED are not mutually associated things. Pentile is the subpixel arrangement, and can actually come in different forms. The Photon had an RGBW (W for white) which meant that the display was brighter and consumed less power because it let more white light through. AMOLED versions of Pentile arrangements have gone with an RGBG.

So that's the subpixel arrangement, but the underlying pixel/subpixel display technology is whether it is AMOLED or active LCD (of which there are several varieties of LCD display technologies).

Both screens are Pentile, even though the MoPho is LCD.

Many find Pentile displays grainy (many either don't or don't care) and it was the common resolution and Pentile-induced graininess that was the point.

All Pentile screens are made by Samsung. I've only seen the Pentile LCDs on Motorola phones.

Fwiw, all LCD TVs and modern smartphones are TFT LCD. ;) :)

Edit - ninja'd by NeoteriX :D

I know many can't stand pentile screens , but I can't recall pentile ever being used with super amoled and it's never been in conjunction with an hd screen.

I've noticed the pixelization on my mopho since day 1. It was most noticable on brighter display settings, but I personally didn't mind and it looks great and normal majority of the time.

Before we judge, let's just see how it is in person with the hd screen. It maybe will be a completely different result.

I have loved the screen on my MoPho since the very first time I saw it...especially in the sunlight. My job has me outside, basically every day, and it's been amazing to me how useable the screen is in all light conditions. And I must say the MoPho has been VERY durable....I have dropped it on concrete, asphalt and ceramic tile, and it still looks great and works flawlessly. I hope ElTevo is as good.

But I WILL be buying the Otter Box case.....just because.

Any S/AMOLED screen without a plus at the end of the name is Pentile. The Galaxy Nexus and SGS3 are both HD Pentile.

All S/AMOLED Pentile is rgbg as NeoteriX said, but they never leave it alone. The SGS2 pictured below SAMOLED+, the ones on the ends are Pentile.

I agree with this right out of the gate! :)

But I am confused about which aspect or display you mean here.
