Root Official unrevoked 3.22 released!!

I am rooted, running STOCK ROM from here:

[ROM] Stock Sense/Froyo v3.21.605.1 *Official* (Rooted, Odexed OR Deodexed) [9/30/10] - xda-developers

When the update came, it acted like it installed. I did not loose root, but the update did not apply, and pop-up went away.

So what do I do to run the new Urevoked?

That's the same thing that mine did when I accepted the update with the bloatware removed but then the nag would come back after a while. Did you remove any of the stock programs after you installed the ROM? If so, you'll have to put them back in order to install the update.

As far as running the new Unrevoked, it is only to root phones that have the Nov. OTA update. If you're not getting the nags, and you're happy with your phone the way it is, or plan to install a custom ROM, then there is no reason for you to do anything. To the best of my limited knowledge, the only real advantages of installing the OTA are faster charge, and getting rid of the nag.

Yes a few times after a reboot the nag came back, but did not hang around. I am just anal, and want the "proper" update.

I completely understand. Did you remove bloatware? You'll have to put it back.

I remember messing with titanium, but I do not think I "froze" anything. I will have to look (son's playing Angry Birds).

In any case, how can I install the update on it, if it is not doing anything now (not to mention I have no clue how to get it back).

I am confused  :o

I installed the ota, went to sleep, woke up and it said my phone was now up to date. I have not seen the install ota update since. I also can still use my tether, so does that still mean i am rooted. I was under the impression I had to reroot cause the ota would unroot me. I go to phone settings and it says up to date. How can I check if I have the ota and if Im still rooted

settings>about phone>software information kernel before 2.6.32.15, kernel after 2.6.32.17. Also, you will have an app called Slacker after the update. If you have the update, you will be unrooted. Try running an app that requires root. Open your Superuser app to see which ones require root. Superuser should still be there weather you are still rooted or not.

thanks, you have been very helpful. After I hit install guess it didnt take the update, it says Im up to date. No more nagging install pop ups for now. Guess ill wait to see if it happens again and retry the update then root. Thanks again

I wondered the same thing myself once, and here is the answer...

How to: Manually Install latest OTA for HTC Droid Incredible|Free PC Guides

Hey guys, yes, newbie, but i'm sure you're sick of hearing that. So I tried to install the manual update recently as I have a rooted (unrevoked of course) AMOLED handset. It's been working great until this OTA came out and I'm sick of the notification about the update. So I've searched and searched for fixes and this seemed like the best. (FYI, the OTA won't install, just gets to the screen that says install and restart, never restarts)

So I downloaded the update.zip as referrenced in the article, placed it on the sdcard and tried to install it. First, I get an error that hte whole-file signature failed verification. So I disable signature and asserts verification and it still fails with the error: Error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7). Can't get past this. Anyone seen this, or have a fix?

I'm really frustrated with this so I'm hoping someone can help. If this isn't the best way to go about fixing my rooted incredible with the OTA, please, please, can you post a simple step by step instruction list (hopefully without having to flash or factory reset, I really love how I have the phone configured)? I'm sorry if i'm redundant, but it seems a lot of posts are very cryptic about what process people are taking...

Thanks in advance!!!

PLEASE HELP ME! Have unrooted my DInc and superuser permission is gone. But S/Off is still set. How in the world do I get my S/Off set so that I can get the latest Verizon OTA? It never reboots when it says it is going to. Will doing a factory reset set the S/Off to S/On?

I'm sure you have the driver installed. I'd just give it another shot and worst case, try it on another computer. Some people seemed to have problems using previous releases too even when doing everything right.
So I got the phone last night, put in a newly formatted 8 GB SD card, downloaded the drivers to another pc, ran reflash and waited.. and waited.. then voila! Clockwork recovery. All done. :)

The answer to you question is that "Unrevoked Forever" is a tool to set s-on or s-off, available on the Unrevoked website. However, the OTA will install fine on a phone with s-off and root. Switching to s-on will not let you install the update. Did you remove bloatware from your phone? You have to put it back if you did. The update needs some of those apps to complete and will fail without them. There are also a couple of methods discussed in this thread to try and stop the nag if you would prefer to just leave your phone as is.

The only think that I know of that will stop the OTA from installing is having removed bloatware from your phone. If you have removed bloatware, you have to put it back. Some of it is updated by the OTA and has to be there for it to execute.

Thanks, that makes a little more sense. So essentially, if I can get the appropriate stuff back on the phone, I should be able to install the OTA update, then re-root using the latest version of unrevoked correct? So if that's the case, it's erroring out on the dcsstock.odex assert. So can someone help me get that file restored, I've already tried copying it to the sdcard and moving/copying to the /system/app folder (believe this is where it goes) but Astro File Manager basically says I don't have write permissions to the directory. Does anyone have a moment to explain to me how to get this back? I've tried to install the dcsstock.apk but that keeps failing and I'm curious if it's because this file doesn't existing.

I believe the rest of the apps i've uninstalled have been reinstalled, unfortunately...

Again, thanks for the help...

Correct. You need to use Root Explorer to put the apps back. You need root permission to write to the apps directory. Astro won't do it. Make sure you select R/W mode at the top of Root Explorer.

Got a quick question, Do I need to format my sd card before rooting to fat32 or can I do that after?

Edit nvm already got everything worked out

Simply un-rooting should be enough.

question about the slcd thing. i just got a replacement phone that is a refurb. it says hardware version 0002 (amoled), but i know that the display is in fact slcd. it appears this phone was an amoled phone, but had the screen replaced to slcd during the refurb process. will i have to worry about the same concerns as other slcd owners with regard to root? i rooted last night without a hitch, but i heard it wasn't a problem with rooting, but rather a problem with certain roms or kernals or something.

thanks for any insight.
