Help One button GPS on/off is gone with new update

bobarr

Newbie
One button GPS on/off is no longer an option with the latest update on my incredible 2.

I found an app that gets it down to 2 taps, but miss the instant on/off I used to have. WiFi & Data on/off with one tap remains.

I suppose the software folks had a reason for this, but don't know why.

Any help?

long press where you want the widget> click on widgets from the menu> select HTC-browse all htc widgets and scroll through the options........ there is a single GPS on/off widget in there

Nope that won't work with the last software update. A menu pops up and you have to select OK to turn it on. OFF takes a single tap of the icon.

Its kinda inconvenient for several apps. I think they have disabled the ability of an app to automatically turn GPS on when needed too.

Thanks for the tip though.

Its nice too, but brings up the Standalone GPS Services page and you have to hit OK on it to turn the GPS ON. No problem turning OFF.

Thanks for the input though.

There should also be an option for "power control", which is an android widget. That is a single press for GPS on/off

I was hoping this would have a good brightness widget since Dazzle barely works any more. The brightness widget isn't configurable. The search continues. I just want to switch between 23% and 100%.

I know this probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, but you could set your brightness to 100% then put up a Screen Filter widget set at 23% and you've got your two setting with one click :D

I don't want a popup. Just a one touch widget. Dazzle lets me choose but mostly doesn't work on Gingerbread and not at all on ICS.

what about just using Quick Profiles or one of the similar apps? Many setting you can change, screen brightness is one of them. Then just put a short cut somewhere to quickly toggle back and forth with one touch. It might also have some type of widget if I'm not mistaken.

Yikes! I don't want to have to figure out how to program profiles. All I want is a simple brightness widget like Dazzle that works on ICS.
