J6REMY & daveW41,
Thanks a bunch for your help. I was able to get the Straight Talk Precedent phone rooted using "operation not permetted" (I had the phone on, and unlocked when I trigered the .bat file - in case it makes a difference for others).
However, when I try to run the busybox installer (in a hurry), I get to choose the version to install (1.19.2), and where to install (system/xbin/ or system/gin/) before the ad comes up. But them I get a disclaimer from the busybox installer "before hitting the install button...", and by the time I get to close this disclaimer the ad at the buttom of the page is already there. The busybox installler then gives me an error "Failure, there is either not enough space on your SD Card or your SD card is mounted!". My SD card is totally removed from the phone. What should I do?

Also guys, because I am pretty lost, I must ask. Assuming I succed, once I do get to install busybox, how do I connect to the internet with my computer - through my phone?

Sorry for all the trouble I am causing. I hope it at least helps all the other people that could be in my possition.

THANKS.
I made this it is a STRAIGHT TALK PRECEDENT back up with full root and busybox already installed I tested this on 2 precedents

Download "EasyTether" off of 4shared (full version) & just follow instructions - in order to use internet on your computer with your phone connected. It works great(:

I have just bought my Prevail a couple of weeks ago, I have tried several times to follow the documented procedure for rooting it, always getting the error "Mount: operation not permitted". Believe me, I have followed most of the advises on this forum without success. But my post is mainly to ask a question to the forum, today I learned that Rooting on Samsung Prevail has been blocked and cannot be done. Does any body knows if this is true?

Don't give up man! I did a "factory data reset", since my phone had too much BS on it, which decreased performance. Then, I rooted my phone on the first try - this all just happened yesterday=)

Well my prevail is successfully rooted, but I can't allow wifi tethering :/ I've tried many apps (barnacle, open garden, wifi tethering) & I can't read an access point coming from my phone. Any suggestions?

devew41, THANK YOU!! REALLY. I had to run the process two times, the first one I just pointed the SCH-M828C.ops, pda.tar and phone.tar and screwed my phone, then I tried again also pointing boot.tar and IT WORKED!! I spent hours digging this post and the answer was on the last tow updates, thats life!.

By the way Im also being able to tether with "wireless theter" I just downloaded from android market after rooting my phone following devew41 recipe.

You are kindly welcome
if you download root checker
you will see root and busybox are both in there and good to go :)

thanks in advance,, I have tried all the tricks and different versions of one click. I just bought this phone new and was just wondering if anyone else is having an issue. When the program gets to the point where it is trying to write or gain access it immediately reboots again and the errors of the phone not there start and when it tries to pick back up and write again it says attempt to write failed like so many others in this thread. I have read for days and searched all over and in my opinion I think for some reason some of the new phones have been programmed to reboot if access is attempted.
Is there a newer version above 4.0 one click or is there another trick that someone knows about. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks and please forgive if posted in wrong place ,, this is my first post here.

samething happend to me but when i did the reboot and open the .bat file it went through the same process but isnt rooting ive tried multiple times like at least 10

well after many attempts and all the tricks posted here I still couldn't get the one click to work. im thinking some phones are blocked or have an extra reboot when trying to access.
I finally did try flashing with odin rooted file and it worked like a charm. The step by step video was very helpful. Thanks to everyone that puts so much work and efforts into making this possible.
Now Im off to play with My new phone. Next step is to format my sd card so I can place running apps on partition that android will see.
well, time to read lol. :D

This is a dumb question... but by "reboot" do we mean menu->privacy->factory data reset?

I have been trying to root my prevail for the whole night but no go. The error messages are exactly the same as those in some previous posts: unable to copy files to destination directory and stuff. I tried factory data reset and ran PrevailToExistence again and still the same error message. I installed the driver first before I did all these.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :(

After reading through this entire thread for a few hours. Finally got to this post and this attachment rooted it for me! THANK YOU! To get the attachment click the > button next to his name in my quote.

Thank you to everyone who is working on these rooting files and I'm not gonna look into backing up my plants vs zombies so I can start checking out the mod. I'll try and summarize most of the thread links I encountered for the lazy.

Forgot to add some more info for others.
I have windows 7 64bit.
My phone was in airplane mode (this probably doesn't matter) and had the SD card out and debug on. The phone was on and loaded before I ran the PrevailToExistence in windows.
Absolutely! Must be a bug with the new KMS from OP.. something to do with the line adb -d shell mount... Been tryin to root my prevail for DAYS and got the same error as most -- MOUNT: OPERATION NOT PERMITTED.. Tried ALL advice posted in this thread and others until I found this which must be an older version.. Worked the first time!!!! Thanks guys!!

1.0 has been released!

Where can I get 1.0? I have tried all suggested ideas of how to get the rooting to work with no success.

Phone info:

model sph-m820-bst
android 2.2.2
baseband s:m820.07 x.ee14
kernel 2.6.32.9
build froyo.ee14
hardware m820.07

After finally getting a compatible USB Cable I rooted my prevail and installed Shabbymod and the EE14 fix. The only problem I had is that for some reason my Windows 7 would not run the .bat file and I had to run it through the command prompt. If anybody else has this trouble just save the KMS file in your C:/ drive so its easy to find and run it PrevailtoExistence.bat in the command prompt.

reboot= the phone will turn off & on..
factory wipe= is factory/data wipe.

try using odin for rooting.. the simplest way... the kms has been broken but works for some.....
