The drivers are to be installed on your computer so it can connect to your phone

Oh ok. Well since I have no internet on my computer right now, I had to download the zip folder to my phone and extract it to my computer. Is there any way somebody can create a zip folder which carries the driver files, so I can download to my phone and extract to my computer? I'd surely appreciate it =)

Keeps saying "failed to copy file" on all files.. Then says "you should be rooted" but it doesn't root or even create a ROOT folder to allow access.. New to this so please take it easy on me

Make sure the drivers are installed, debugging is on, and the SD card is out; reboot phone, and run the BAT/sh depending on your OS(bat for windows)...

I went through this about 10 times using the link in the OP. Until I stumbled upon this one. It worked the first time.

This is the link.. Load the KMS.zip in here....

ALSO.. in the zip... Scroll the the bottom of the read me file...

If it fails to root..Reboot the phone...When it gets to the double Samsung logo...Double-click on the BAT/sh..

Well I rooted my phone, just how you said, but now it says it isn't rooted anymore. :/ I still have busy box installed though. I keep trying, but it doesn't want to root again . & now it feels way slower

OK, is that all that happened? If possible describe what you did after rooting.

Well I downloaded a few programs which required root. (titanium backup, root tools, set CPU, memory booster, absolute system root tools)

I was curious if I still had root, so I used "root check" & told me I wasn't rooted, but still have busy box installed.

What about Superuser?

The apps you installed, are they usable? do they function?

Superuser will ask for permission, try to re-flash the root..

just to make sure, are you on a prevail or precedent?

Yeah they are usable, except for the ones that require root lol. How can I re-flash the root? I'm on my samsung galaxy prevail from boost mobile. Oh and another thing. It won't let me open some of the programs anymore, just makes me force close as soon as I try opening something. That's what I get for messing around with the "root tools" application. Any suggestions?

Wait.. Messing around? do you remember what was messed with?

On another note, follow these steps again to re-root

Well somebody told me the "force close" problem might have happened because I transferred all data to my SD with titanium backup. I can't remember the names of what options I used. Is there any way I can reset my phone? So It can go back to how I first had it? I tried rerooting but still doesn't work. It worked the foist time

Guys, I apologize for this late reply, but unfortunatelly, because I am totally new to smartphones, I am still in trouble. I should probably say that I am actually using a Precedent on Straight Talk, which as far as I know, is the same as the Prevail.

I turned on debugging, unmounted the SD card, and ran the bat file. It gave many "Unable to" errors, but did display "You should have root" message at the end. I then downloaded busybox, but when I attempted to install it (after a reboot), I got a message "Busybox was not allowed root access!", then it suggested making sure that Superuser allows root access. I rebooted the phone and started the process again when the Samsung logo was displaying, but the results where the same.

I have downloaded RootCheck, and it tells me I do not have root after each attempt. Could you please help me with any additional suggestion.

Many thanks in advance.

Well, bud. I have no way of actually knowing what you did inside of TB.
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/375550-odin.html Here you will be able to flash back to stock for a *PREVAIL* boost phone... Wish I could help more.
*ODIN is for the Boost Mobile Prevail if you use this it is at your own risk*

Alright first off.. I really doubt the prevail and precedent are the exact same. They may look physically the same but not internally. From other precedent owners, I've noticed that after rooting, the problems start. Dont quote me on that, you should look for other precedent holders. Until the source codes for both phones are released, this is not understood, but assumed because of the other precedent problems that owners are having with other mods. Which KMS.zip did you use? The one in the orignal post or the one that is listed above, I think I've linked it a few times...Once again! lol here it is. Give this a shot and post results.

Use this one to root I too had issues with Stalk and had to use this file

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...9441-operation-not-permetted.html#post3169511

make sure to follow the readme to a T..
enable usb debugging and unmount SD card

then
go to the market and..
then for busybox download
BusyBox Installer by JRummy16
on the busybox installer it has an ad at the bottom for install you have to be quick to hit install before the ad loads.. then to make sure it all works use
root checker this will check for busybox and if you have root

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/375550-odin.html

Here you will be able to flash back to stock. Follow the instructions.. Wish I could help more.

@Cernicalo1
This will give him a stock BOOST MOBILE PHONE
this will not give you a stock straight talk precedent..
you will get boost mobile load screens and a few apps that boost uses and Straight talk does not so be warned..
no one has a stock rom yet for the Straight talk Precedent that I have seen to date posted here..

Well yeah I just reset everything. It was going slow anyways.. It was fast once it was back ti to how it was, but then it started going slow again once I rooted on my first try. Why is it going so slow? I don't even have any extra apps downloaded.

Very much so.. It will not flash a Precedent to a ST stock image..

He does have a Prevail..

J6REMY & daveW41,
Thanks a bunch for your help. I was able to get the Straight Talk Precedent phone rooted using "operation not permetted" (I had the phone on, and unlocked when I trigered the .bat file - in case it makes a difference for others).
However, when I try to run the busybox installer (in a hurry), I get to choose the version to install (1.19.2), and where to install (system/xbin/ or system/gin/) before the ad comes up. But them I get a disclaimer from the busybox installer "before hitting the install button...", and by the time I get to close this disclaimer the ad at the buttom of the page is already there. The busybox installler then gives me an error "Failure, there is either not enough space on your SD Card or your SD card is mounted!". My SD card is totally removed from the phone. What should I do?

Also guys, because I am pretty lost, I must ask. Assuming I succed, once I do get to install busybox, how do I connect to the internet with my computer - through my phone?

Sorry for all the trouble I am causing. I hope it at least helps all the other people that could be in my possition.

THANKS.

No problem, no trouble either. I should have made my post with more clarity.
So I ask this..lol Where is the SD card? in the phone? Or out?:p
