Root One Click Root?

now that they are figuring out clockworkmods, how to get into fastboot and bootloader think maybe you can incorporate custom recovery into this soon?

Possibly. I haven't been following that. Is it mostly command line stuff? If it is then I should be able to. All the GUI does is send and recieve messages to a hidden cmd prompt so if that's the steps for clockworkmods then I'm sure it could happen.

Hey, what do you guys think of something like this? I havn't coded it yet, but it would have all of the major root stuff in it. Do you guys think it needs to happen, or do you think it would be more beneficial to the dev community to not spend a bunch of time on a gui?

First and foremost, a major thank you to everyone working on this.
My two cents are this : the easier it could be made for people like myself that just don't have good luck with this kind of stuff, the less likely I will be to brick my phone. My dream is to be able to download one simple package of files and install click root and be done. I used t good with windows mobile 6 but the android stuff is killing me. Once again thanks for the effort any help is greatly appreciated

Okay, I went ahead and did the one with all the root stuff in it. Now, I still have had nobody come forward and test this. So, I didn't build the extra files into it. There is not use of doing the extra work until I know for certain that the scripting works. I will be attaching a .zip file. Extract the files in it, and place all of them in this directory "C:\android\platform-tools". That's also where your adb needs to be. Once you place them there, just run the .exe called "LG Optimus Elite Root".

If somebody could test this for me so I could know for sure that the scripting is good, I would be very grateful. Nothing that I've put in it is harmful to your phone or anything, it's all stuff that we've done. All I did, was take the command prompt lines, and make them look pretty.

EDIT: took off the attachment, see the updated version below

I will be happy to try it. It will be Sunday night before I can get back home to my computer but I definitely will. Thank you to all of you helping us less android savvy people root our phones.

First off, thank you so much for testing it. Secondly, I found what the problem is. The "pause" near the top, made it wait until another key was pressed. So when the program automatically runs the adb shell, it takes off the "a", turning it into "db". This would prevent the adb from running correctly. I fixed that. You should be good with this updated version. Thanks again for testing this :)

EDIT: and some setups won't take a file command if the extension is on it, so I added in the .apk to the end of those files. Just make sure that you put those things in "C:\android\platform-tools" along with your adb. And dont forget to enable debugging mode and allow non-market app installs.

No problem, testing the new one now. Will report back here shortly

Still a no go...

Run a regular command prompt, and do this, and post it back on here.

cd C:\android\platform-tools
dir

Just making sure that all the stuff is set up right.

Okay, see where it says "Error: xyz kb/s" stuff? That's actually not an error. That's the error reporting service telling us what it's doing. It went right. Did you watch your phone for the pop up stuff?

And for the second thing, the usb interface error is because your drivers aren't set up right. Follow this post-http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/586938-root-exploit-easier-rooting-without-having-flash-whole-firmware.html to get those drivers. But, you only need the drivers, not the rest of it. So I'll attach the exe file you'll need to do that. Here is the order you'll do it in

1-giantpunes MSL Bypass
2-driver setup
3 giantpune root

make sure to install that you watch your phone screen for the popup and run it before you set up the drivers. if your drivers aren't setup then the root wont work.

Uninstalled all drivers and rebooted. Then ran the Zadig.exe but the only option I get in the drop down menu is LG Android USB (Interface 1). There is no 0, 2, or 3.... And sadly I am out of time for now.

Glad to see progress, I can't wait to get home to try it out and hopefully get this thing rooted. Thanks for continued efforts you all, it is appreciated.

Well, I'm back home now. I just tried it, and it works. Didn't have to do anything with the command line. Now I'm going to work on building the files into the thing itself, and once I get that done I'll make a new thread with it. If anybody wants to have a go at it, feel free. Here are the steps

1-extract the stuff in it. There is a folder called "put these with adb", copy the files inside to "C:\android\platform-tools". All of them.

2-Run the program. Once you verify your adb is working, go back to the main menu and run the Giantpunes MSL Bypass. Keep an eye on your phone for the popup.

3-Once that it done, go back to your downloaded files and run the zadig program. select options, then check the box that says list all devices. Then install drivers for CDC interface(interface 0), LG android usb(interface 2), and LG android usb(interface 3).

4- now, go back to the root program, and at the main menu click on giantpune root. It will run the lgoeExploit, and when it does, you need to click the continue button to finish the rooting process. Follow the on-screen instructions and you should be fine.
