Root One Stop Shopping for Fascinate Kernels

This is absolutely not scientific, just observation and feel. They are worth a shot. I will flash the next batch and see...hell I might flash these back again and see

I'm pretty much doing it at this point just to see how far this SF will go before having stability issues. I am more than fine running the sv 1200 till froyo leak gets here. It is plenty enough fast and stable for me.

The last sentence of your post cracked me up as I was thinking the same thing !
 
For me, personally, as the OC's got more "stable" the past 10 days, they got slower. The first 1200 I ran was fast for sure...until it froze :) The one from a week ago that I was stable on not quite as fast. Then these with the latest voodoo, I switched to jt's 1ghz 12/12, and I can't really tell much difference.

Yeah thats the thing eventually you gotta find the kernel that is right for you.
Its very true to say sometimes I/you/we cannot tell the difference between 1Ghz and OC and/or voodoo vs non.
About the only thing which really is noticeable is a stock SF versus anything that came out this month.
Like most here I also cannot run the 1.25 stably but then again 50Mhz is not really that significant.

BTW, nitsuj17 I think you had drod2169's 1.15Ghzvoodoo, you think thats worthwhile putting up in the OP? If so can you PM me the link so I can add it, I dont have it? If its not worth posting disregard.

BTW#2 nem seems to pump out his kernels in waves so expect changes/revisions sooner or later. He is on record saying he intends to keep voodoo current with any and all changes supercurio makes which is good for us :D

i dont know that drod is publicly posting kernels yet as hes testing them it seems with his group of testers....i follow his twitter so once theyre up at some point ill post links :)
 
OP updated 12/14 1am EST to reflect newest kernel releases. There are a few more than yesterday and voodoo is current with supercurio as of 12/13. Added are some ul 1250mv kernels @ 1.1 and 1.2Ghz. Also the 1.3Ghz ov.
There should be something for everyone now.

funny that the ov is a no go for me. Even when I was testing for nem a 1325mv @ 1.2Ghz was not stable. My SF just does not like more than 1300mv it seems.
Its highly likely 1.3Ghz is still not a long term stable solution for me so Im looking to probably settle at 1.2Ghz UL
But this is encouraging to get thru multiple linpack runs
 
I didn't do any linpacks but they all froze for me in the 3d part of quadrant going down the hall and up the stairs

Yes that is a classic freezing point for me as well. I've been getting that since jt old previous generation of voodoo which was also 1325mv on his 1.2Ghz kernel. No ov for me
 
OV's tend to do worse for me too, my phone loves low voltage. Wouldn't it be something if nem made a uv1300 at 1275 and we were stable?

The 1300ov froze for me...I didn't even bother to try the sv...very interesting.

Give it a try. It seems some h-birds tolerate voltage better or worse than others. In testing we ramped that 1.3Ghz kernel up as high as 1350mv and that was worse than 1325mv or 1300mv. Im most stable at 1250mv for 1.2Ghz frankly. This is half the reason Im trying to sweet talk nemesis into a 1.25Ghz@1250/75mv.

Even with these very latest 1.3Ghz kernels I tried the ov first and froze within seconds. I was about to not even try the sv when I said what the heck. Im glad I did. I was/am not 100% stable but I did test drive the cpu moderately for awhile. Give the sv a shot
 
1300sv only made it 3 frames into the first 3d test :p
oops disregard previous post then I was typing while you were posting :o. Still was that further than you made it with 1300ov? We have the same experience and we might do well with an undervolted 1.25Ghz or something like that. Im quite content with 1.2Ghz UL right now

nah, the ov made it a little further into the 3d section. Mine actually froze with the 1.2 ul...looks like my hardware isn't quite as stable as some people's. Wonder if rom/theme setup can have any effect on stability :confused:

No not cpu stability. Theme and rom's should have no effect at all on your freezes in a cpu bench test or anything like quad or anything ever
 
Yeah my phone doesn't like ul as much so back to lv. :)
Its truly interesting to see how different phones respond. Even on the lv1.2 I wasnt completely stable in one of my gameloft games but on ul1.2 I was/am. I have concluded my SF just does not like any overvolting and even prefers uv.

Of note for all readers: and I asked nemesis for confirmation on this, the current generation of his kernels out are only over or under volted at the top speed. All the steppings are just stock voltage. In the past there was some tinkering with uv-ing the steppings and that is his intention with the next wave. Probably will start with 25mv per step under stock and then maybe move to 50mv is its stable. Time and testing will tell ;)
 
What about jt and geeknik? Are those only uv at 1ghz or all over?
Thats the question. I dont know the answer to that myself. I PM'd geeknik on irc but he hasnt been in for awhile now. When he gets back to me I'll post the answer. We know that each and every stepping can be uv'd HeX proved that the question is the degree of uv. Just because certain kernels steppings might have been uv in the past does not mean current ones are.
