Root One Stop Shopping for Fascinate Kernels

I've been running the 1/22 -125 on dj05 for several hours now...seems to be working just fine. Glad to see imnuts reverted back to bln 2.2...issues with 2.3 were keeping me from flashing the latest kernels for the last few weeks.

Edit: spoke too soon...having the same problems with calls as others have reported.

What is a good voodoo kernel at this point? I have tried 2 of the Adrynalyne test voodoo kernels and have noticed the phone heating up in standby. Display and standby are account for 60% of my use. I had great results with test 2 of his non-voodoo kernel but voodoo has not been nice to me.

Any suggestions?

Everyones phone handles kernels.differently...,your.best bet is to try a few and see what works best...,id give the imnuts kernels a shot as there is a lot choices for undervolt

Well with the 1/22 issues reported above, is there a way to try an older version? The 1/15 link on the previous page is down.

Who did?

Imnuts' page says update to Voodoo Sound on 1/24, but his dropbox downloads say 1/22. Is this just a typo?

he might be in the process of updating...he usually changes the update list before the kernels are uploaded
As we speak he is building compiling the new kernels with voodoo sound. He tends to change the written description on his page prior to uploading the kernels

Out of curiosty: I have been using Imnuts kernels mostly since you seemed to like them (and I know you know your stuff). How are they different from other popular kernels out there right now, such as adrynalyn's 1/21 test kernels currently posted on XDA right now? Or the latest update to jt's voodoo kernel with voodoo sound? Is it just the undervolt and the options? I know the Blazed kernel was based on an older build, so that was why a lot people weren't using that one.

OP updates with links to jt's voodoo sound kernel and more accurate descriptions of imnuts and other kernels.

Please not anyone trying out voodoo sound enabled kernels must also DL the free market app called Voodoo Control App, its free in market

Pretty much yes. imnuts basically just starts with jt's kernels and UV's it to whatever level its described as. He does the same with 2.2AOSP, started with jt and tweaked it. Same thing for Kaos, tweaked the original. Of note imnuts also adds in the BLN control

Awesome, thanks.
I was curious because I was following the "To undervolt" thread on XDA and thinking of trying a standard volt kernel for a day or 2. I figured jt's was like a standard volt version of what I had been using with imnuts kernels (i have been on the 100).

jt uses a -50mv actually unless otherwise stated

Had the same call issues others have mentioned with imnuts' 1/22 kernels, flashed the 1/15 kernel provided in this thread. Something I've noticed since going voodoo - and maybe it's just imnuts' kernels, I'm not sure as I haven't tried any other voodoo kernels yet - getting 3G data connectivity back after disabling wifi takes a lot longer than it did before. Probably on the order of 1-2 full minutes. Prior to going voodoo/imnuts, it was always a matter of a few seconds. Anyone else experiencing this or have any idea what might be causing it?

Running DJ05 Superclean 0.9, retrokid gingerbread theme, imnuts 1/15 -100 voodoo5

I had call issues with imnuts 1/24, on bluetooth I couldn't hear anything after a few seconds, I think adynalyne kernels had this issue at some point too. JT's 1/23 seems ok though

I am on jt's 1/23 and everything is working perfectly. I like it.

How are adrynalyn's recent kernels different from these?

The imnuts 1/15 kernel posted above is making my phone a lot happier. Battery usage was back to normal and everything seems smooth.

On the most recent kernels added ... why is JT's kernel half the size of Imnuts?
Thanks

imnuts bundles a second kernel, a back up if you will at stock voltage so one can still get into recovery should there be a mini bork with the voltage being too low. This package was christened by nemesis2all [who sadly seems to have disappeared] and is a decent idea; but yeah it double the kernel zip size

Yup I just ran into this in the past 2 minutes, so back to something older :(

So what happens if you have a "bork" with JT's kernel? I always assumed I could get back into recovery and load a kernel I have on my sd card that I know works. Is the backup kernel for those that don't have a kernel on their sd card or is it not possible to get to recovery in some cases?

Thanks

Yes you are right. Jt's have a much lower bork rate as just about everyone outside of davidnmegan6097 can run -50mv. But since imnuts pushing the uv much lower its like insurance. At any time if you get into a bork, a battery pull and into recovery and flash a new kernel will work

From what I recall Nemesis seems to be a casualty so far of the irc move.....either he wasn't able to access the new server (many have/had issues) or he was just against it in principle idk

Hopefully he ll. Come back at some point and not pull a dirrk
