My computer sees my phone, but I can't access the files!
I installed drivers.
But I can't mount from my phone? The screen just closes!
Using Windows XP/Windows Vista

What version of CM7 did you flash? Remember, when mounting with CM6/7 you have to press the notification that says "USB connected", then the phone goes into mass storage mode.

  1. Try connecting it, and you should have a 'empty disk drive' in your 'My Computer'..
  2. Notification, at the top of the phone should say 'USB connected', now just click the notification
  3. You should get a screen with a green android mascot, and the bottom of it should say 'Turn on USB Storage' click that, and you should be in

It's worth it. It's got everything. If you've got problems after that, It's time to get an 80's flip phone or one of those old walkie talkies. :P

(String and two cans?)

I hope this helps a lot of the XP peeps out here, that have been pulling out their hair trying to get usb mounting to work.

Ever since my first install of cm7 (0505), my phone has been showing up as a cd-rom. After going through my device manager, uninstalling the cd-rom and installing drivers countless times,i decided to go down to the universal serial bus controllers section and reinstall the drivers for the USB Mass Storage Device directly. I double clicked the USB, went to the driver tab, clicked update driver, selected advanced, selected don't search, and selected the mobile option. It installed it as an android adapter modem, but it now shows up as a removable disk under my computer, mounting works great even after a reboot of both machine and phone.
