Root Oneclick root for 2.2 OTA

Is there a way to oneclick root for the ota 2.2 yet? I've tried 100 times to do the method on droid life and the droid 2 method but my F#&$!ng windows vista is a piece of crap and I cant get my phone to connect via usb debugging. Plus when I download the sdk, there isn't an installer included to actually install the sdk to my computer. Mahhhh!!! Why can't these developers use Mac software instead of crappy windows?

I recommend rooting using the Android terminal emulator. Super easy and super fast. I've done it twice. Cut the middle man (computer) out.

Thanks so much. After much trial and error and learning a lot about my terminal on my macbookpro, I now have root on 2.2 OTA.

Says: adb connection will be reset. restart adb server on desktop and re-login

I tried this and let doroot run for about 30 mins and all it said was deamon connected and was not rooted. Do I have to wait longer? I did everything the instructions say but not sure what I need to wait for to be rooted.

try it over and over like i said it took 15 tries i did the same thing every time finally it worked...it just takes like 3 mins total if longer stop it.

Sorry I didn't reply with the link earlier. But this is what I used. Much simpler guide for rooting (no pc required) - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum you need to find the file droid2root and download it. I forget where it was exactly. It says it in that thread I believe. It basically runs the adb commands straight on the phone. Follow the instructions and it'll go off without a hitch. Tho I haven't tested this on the ota. I'm running 2.3.9. I'd imagine it works.

Same thing happened to me. It hung. I unplugged the usb from my phone, the dos prompt told me to reconnect. I did and it finished. Finicky!

I'm rooted on OTA 2.2! Weeks ago when I first downloaded android sdk it screwed up my drivers so I had to delete it and reinstall the drivers to get my computer to recognize my phone. This time when I downloaded the sdk my pc was recognizing my phone so I didn't realize it messed up one of the drivers needed for this root process. long story short, a couple hours wasted earlier trying to root then 5 mins tonight after I checked the drivers and reinstalled them

Yeah its in the market. Get the one called Android terminal emulator. It's like a command prompt window. I put a link to instructions in my last post.

that's an actual step that is supposed to be done. you can also, instead of just unplugging, pull down the notification bar, click usb connected, and re-select pc mode (or whatever mode you are using).
