Help Ongoing WiFi Notification

This is super super annoying. I saw the S3's had this same issue. Was there ever a fix discovered for it? I looked in the S3 forums but none of the things people seem to suggest worked. Anyone who works for Verizon have any info?

EDIT: I see there is a rooted fix for this. I guess non-rooted phones are outta luck?

The AT&T Note 2 has a way to limit the constand pop-up
Settings --> WiFi --> Press Menu --> settings --> Uncheck Network Notifaction

Does the Vz Note 2 have this?

More or less... yah... they have a box you can check or un check for "notification"

Still there even if you un check it.

There were different issues.
The Verizon S3 also had a pop-up window that would tell you to use wifi if you weren't.
That was disabled by dialing a code.
The Note on Verizon and AT&T have the persistent notification in the pulldown menu, from what I've read.

Can you post a screen shot of it? I've heard about the issue a few times, but have a hard time visualizing it.

Ongoing never goes away.

Sorry I misunderstood the issue, now that is just stupid. 1st Vz gets rid if the WiFi toggle in the pull down and now they want to you keep WiFi on? If you leave WiFi on and turn off notifactinos, does it have a new popup?

As a side note, I have been trying out leaving my WiFi on (with the notifaction check box unchecked) to see and so far my battery still lasts the entire day. So maybe a way to get rid of that is just leave WiFi on and turn off network notifactions? Check out this killer post on batteries in the S3 section: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/618583-truth-about-your-battery.html

Nope. All it does is show the wifi network you are connected to instead of the "wifi Off" notification. Its absolutely ridiculous.

I know what they are trying to do. They want everyone to use wifi so we use less of their precious network. That's why they cram it in our faces with this stupid "ongoing" notification.

I have unlimited data Verizon. I will never turn on wifi just out of spite so I use the most data I possibly can.

Yep that's bad, really bad; I know the screen is big but I WANT EVERY SQUARE 1/10mm for what I want on the screen:D, almost as bad as AT&T not enabling multi-tasking yet and Vz limiting multi-tasking to almost useless apps.

AT&T version does not have the ongoing WiFi OFF, but it does have the ongoing WiFi Connected banner. I was told that Verizon purposely put the WiFi OFF in there to bug the users so they won't turn off WiFi. They want to off load users from their 4G network as much as possible.

Wonder why the FM radio was removed then - I always assumed they wanted you to use their network for music = $$$.

I hate the wifi banner. :(
