Root Open rom test

And we do know for certain that this is an issue with Harmonia, not with the ROM flashing process of CWM?

Leslie: Try starting with Stock, and working down to current-build Harmonia, five changes per build release for testing. See which set of changes breaks Wifi along the way down to where Harmonia is now. From there, you can narrow it further.
All files needed are in System folder. It has been checked and rechecked several times.

I'm going to try swapping back to ZV4 and see if anything changes.

Better idea, someone install the rom, then restore Boot.
If wifi works then we know it's in the boot image. If data/misc is the issue, then it will be inside the boot image.

@Leslie, just tossing out an idea here, but could anything you may have added, as opposed to removed, be standing in the way of wifi?

@giantpune;

Wiped cache/dalvik and restored boot.

Rebooting.

Still sitting on obtaining IP address.

This is why I asked about the ROM flashing process in CWM.

Secific tests, wifi and su.
No wifi, supersu wants to update then fails. Screen shots in a sec. The boot sound was a surprise, for me and my sleeping wife.

I hope I'm not the only one here - but that doesn't make sense. If that was all stock, how are wifi and supersu broken?

Wait a minute, I might know why supersu is broken. Could it be that it is required that Superuser be installed, and update the binary post-install, before installing SuperSU and updating the binary on SuperSU? If I recall correctly, in the past I have had to do this as I couldn't simply install SuperSU post-factory-reset. I had to install Superuser first prior to SuperSU to get it working.

Also, could it be required that for ZV4 you'd have to use jcase's modified TOT (which leaves security holes specifically to allow Superuser), or use Poot (which requires Ministro) first?

Is BusyBox installed by default? I wonder if that would help as well.

Some theories and food for thought, here.

Finally got ZV5 installed.

I pretty sure I can fix SU, it's just a matter of messing with it. The wifi has me stumped though. Now that I can get a recovery installed, that will make it easier though.

in case its of any use, on the stock deodexed sense ROM for a one v,the creator added superuser which failed to update and gain root properly. I had to leave it the unupdated version or remove the stock ROM install and use an available root method in order to update su binary and keep root. I had root on install of ROM but couldn't update. it would fail. try using poot on it ad a temp fix.

I tried, but without wifi Ministro II fails to update it's libs for poot to run. Maybe someone with better 3G will has more luck.

I've been able to use 3G to update Ministro and run Poot. Poot seems to work, but no apps will recognize that the phone is rooted. The buttons that are supposed to download root check and the SuperUser.apk do not seem to work. Perhaps that indicative of some problem.

I even created a CWM-flashable ZIP which removes any existing su binaries from /system/xbin and /system/bin, reinstalls the most recent su binary to xbin, installs Superuser.apk, and sets permissions.

It doesn't help. Gr...

Those button in Poot start the "am" program in a shell to fire off an intent for "market://blabla" urls. The log output should let you know if it was unable to start that program and if so, what it wrote to stdout/stderr.

Sounds good. Get some sleep tho!
I sleep mornings and work afternoon/nights.

I'm pretty sure this is down to a symlink error as is the other issues we are seeing.

I have Bluetooth and WiFi working.

Woot!
That is just downright mean. LOL

I've got root working now too.

EDIT: I redid the updater-script, added some things to it, that fixed WiFi and Bluetooth

For root, I created a CWM-flashable ZIP to install the SuperSU app and su binary.

ALRIGHT!! awesome job my friend

Ktb, care to pack all of this into a zip? Or have leslie ann do it because im flashing it tonight if we have this

If it's OK with Leslie I'll upload my two ZIPs. I don't want to step on anybody's toes.

UPDATE: OK, ADB works too.

Was there anything else that didn't work?

Auto-rotation doesn't seem to work with this launcher when I'm on the home screen. If I'm running an app, the app and status bar rotate, but not when I'm on the home screen. Any tips?

There's one thing i don't quite understand.

If any of you are currently running this ROM..

Pull down the notification menu, while your phone is plugged into a computer by USB. Under the "Ongoing" section, under USB connected, does it say something like "With one more failed security code, all the data in this handset will be erased...?" It might say more, but the rest is hidden.

That message seems to have been there since the first version of this ROM I flashed.
