Help Opening random SMS conversations when I select one..??!

When i open my "Messages" app (SMS) to read a new text, ill click the message to open the thread, but a thread 6 lines below opens instead?!

Example: my wife sends me a new text. I open Messages, click on her new message but it opens the text thread from my brother (which was 6 slots down in the main Messaging screen).

What the heck??! It keeps randomly happening. Is this happening to anyone else??

Not I, but have you tried atleast a Soft reboot? Shutoff the phone and power it back on and test again. Have you done the OS update?

Mine does that occasionally but I have always chalked it up to how i hold the phone possibly triggering a touch lower on the screen. It doesn't do it when I'm in horizontal mode.

It happens to me, also. I think it has something to do with the phone loading the conversations because it seems to only happen when I quickly select messaging and then a conversation.

it happens to me also but very seldomly...

u know what i notice fixes it... if u scroll up or down just a bit before clicking the message you want... i think its a software bug and not a calibration issue

Anyone find a fix for this? I found myself texting the wrong person on a few occasions over the last couple of days.

Happens to me almost every time. I've been using Handcent as a "fix" but I still like the stock application better. Call me plain, I just like it.

i have never had this happen, i also do not use the stock messaging app. but since this thread has not been updated by the above members you might send them a private message asking if they ever resolved their issue.

and major kudos go to you for searching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you do find the answer please come back and leave an updated post, as someone else may find that info helpful later

This used to happen to me all the time. But once I stared using ChompSMS, it never really happened. I had it happen quite a bit on the stock messaging app. And it can be very dangerous if you are sending texts to certain people who are not meant to get them, lol.

This has happened to me several times in Handcent. I have also sent texts to people that were to never to receive one. It makes it quite frustrating, and embarrassing, at times.

I have to agree with Chaco's suggestion above. If you wait a few seconds to let the app "fully load" (for a lack of a better term), and scroll up/down real quick, it doesn't seem to happen as often.
