Root Optimus screen freeze

Marro

Lurker
Hello all. Do I have the "new" optimus, rooted and flashed with backside rom. When the phone is booting up, the animation "BACKside" shows properly, but after that it's what I can only describe as "snow", but in color (It looks like it's displaying random pieces of memory instead of the animation). That lasts for a bit, but then the phone starts up and everything is ok. Phone works properly for a while. Untill... I press the power button, and instead showing the slider bubbles for volume and vibrate, it shows the last application that was on the screen before I pressed the power button to power the phone down. The application is unresponsive, but the bubbles are still there, only invisible. I can grab each of them and "unlock" the phone (it makes the unlocking sound) or place the phone in vibrate (it vibrates), but I can't use the phone since the app (gmail was the last one) is on the screen and OS pretends it doesn't see it. My only option at that point is to replace the battery. This is driving me nuts, but I really don't want to go back to 2.2. Help!

Cheers,

Miro

The "Snow" you see was an April Fools boot animation Jerry put into the build. You can remove it by using a root file manager and go to system > media directory and delete AprilFools.zip or if you don't mind putting up with it I'm sure he'll remove it in the next build

As far as the screen freezing issues hit menu key and go to Settings > Cyanogenmod Settings > Display and uncheck rotation animation. Reboot and see if that doesn't correct your issues

If still having problems, you might have gotten a corrupt download.
Try downloading the ROM and Gapps from a PC.
Then put the phone into your recovery mode. Plug phone into your PC. Scroll down and Select: mounts and storage, select: mount /sdcard. This will mount your sd card into USB mode (used to transfer files back and forth between your PC and phone with the USB cable). When prompted select: "view files". You should now be able to see the contents of your sd card on your PC screen.
Drag and drop the ROM and Gapps from the PC download folder to the SD card folder.
In the phones recovery make sure you unmount the sd card. In the taskbar select "safely remove device" and then select your device . It will show up as a drive. Mine say's: Safely remove Mass Storage Device - Drive (D:/). Wait for it to say that it's safe to remove.
Your already in your recovery, so you can go straight to the pre-ROM install wipe and format procedure. Wipe the cache partition and the Dalvik cache (found in the advanced section). Make sure you format the boot, cache, data, and system (don't format the sd card as this will totally wipe all data from it).
