Help Optimus V Home Button Not Working?

Optimus v android phone home button doesn't work. I know this happened because my phone storage data was low so I then deleted a ton of cache and some programs.

So not only does my home button not work, when i click on the power button to shut it off... all it has is power off. It doesn't even have option to safe mode etc. And main problem is the home button does not work.

Im not computer savy at all. Can someone tell me the easiest way to fix this problem? I read someone mentioned about rooting... i have no idea what that even means...

Pauly1:
Try going into your recovery. Turn phone off. Then hold down HOME + VOLUME DOWN then POWER. Hold them all at the same time until you see your recovery menu.
Select the "wipe data/factory reset" option. When done select the "reboot system" option.

If you can't get into your recovery because of the home button, let us know when you purchased your phone (if it is a ZV4 baseband phone, we can root it using shell commands from a computer).

Hi. If i do that, would i delete everything in the phone? The thing is i dont have anything that i really need in the phone, i just need to write down all my contacts and thats all.

I purchased the phone back in november 2011 on ebay new if that means anything.

If you have your phone connected up with a Google account, Google has stored your contacts and once you sign back in with the fixed phone the contacts will repopulate in your phone.

I dont know if im connected with google account. I do know my gmail is connected and yahoo. Is that waht you mean?

So just reset my phone?

It depends on whether your contacts are saved to your Google account (cloud) or just to the phone's own memory locally. If you log into Gmail on a computer web browser and click on the drop down in the upper left > Contacts, you will see your Google account contacts. If these match your phone's contacts then chances are you have your Google account synced with your phone. But you may want to check your accounts and sync settings on the phone to be sure.

Yes definitely check in menu/settings/accounts and sync. Make sure Auto sync is checked, then click on your gmail account. Make sure all boxes are checked.

If purchased in November 2011 it is a ZV5 baseband phone. It also has a Hitachi screen instead of a Novatek screen.
